Looks like the cataphracts are doing a good job of getting their attention, a bunch of javelins to the face of the lizards and they are pissed. They take the opportunity to continuously throw javelins as much as possible, since they are constantly on the move the lizards cannot use their ki shockwave but their scales are still tough and shrug off many javelins but are damaged in the process. The skirmish continues for a bit before the cataphracts rush back to camp and head up the pre prepared gaps and ramps which are withdrawn. The crossbows are up and start hurling bolts down range at the lizards, both are peppered with various projectiles rather quickly and the one that was injured before is especially slow but still berserking towards us. Several spells from our mages are hitting now, several earth shots from Azalia hit the legs of the lizards and several fireballs from the ‘healer’ group. Some crossbow bolts are hitting gaps in the scales and drawing blood, these things are hurt now but they are almost upon us. Even charred, battered, and pincushioned these lizards truly are not leaving anymore as they roar in a blood rage. The crossbows withdraw and now it is our turn, all the warriors run up onto the ramparts and we ready our weapons. But here is where things do not go to plan, the lizards suddenly stop just short of the ramparts and burst out a shockwave breaking the spikes roaring in rage in the process.
Splinters fly into the air as many of the spikes are shattered but thankfully the angle makes it hard for us to get hit by the splinters though there is still a rainfall of wood and cursing. Father signals for an attack now rather than waiting and off we charge after another barrage of spells which stuns them. With the lizards off balance from that everyone attacks, my squad moves forward and aims for the injured one’s limbs. This time we get much more effect from attacks, my halberd swings with momentum from the charge and shatters several scales on the shoulder of the beast. I move to the side and Ulthar follows up with a halberd and sinks the axe blade deep into the shoulder tearing muscles and tendons. The rest of my squad has similar effect on the other limb and James rushes for a strike to the head and sinks a spike from his warhammer into it. It roars even more in pain but cannot move very effectively with ruined limbs. The rest of the squad has taken care of that wretched tail and the back legs. I move over to the side of the head and sink my blade into the neck of the creature as it squirms in pain with a resonating roar. I sink the blade as far as I can into it and dodge right in preparation for a last ditch bite attack.
And sure enough it obliges me and I take out my shortsword, looking into its eye I sink my blade as far as possible into it and it flails it limbs once more. Before it used to be a proud apex predator with previously impervious scales, sharp fangs and claws, and a powerful shockwave attack. But now it is a dying beast, it’s limbs chopped to ragged lumps, its sides pierced by splintered scales, and it’s tail a limp and slashed appendage. The bad news for me however is that I am in it’s attack range still and it is a prideful being. Even wounded and almost disabled and key word almost it still gives me as hard a bash as it can and I get flying through the air propelled by a strike fueled with what was left of it’s life. I feel the sensation of flight for a few seconds and then crash, blood flows into my mouth and my chest is on fire. A few of the squad quickly runs over and raise me back to my feet, I think a rib broke but I will live for now. While they steady me so I can get back to camp I see that the other lizard has been taken care of. Judging by the large quantities of fire, shattered rock and slash marks it did not have a good time. Still a miracle is that no one appears to have died, looks like I am sadly the most injured here right now though a few broken legs and arms are prevalent along with slashes to the body.

Coughing a glob of blood out of my mouth I motion to them to get me back to camp, I am quickly carried over to near the ramparts where healer Relan rushes over with Dalen in tow. I can feel myself being set back on the ground and I see Relan waving his hands in the air with mana flowing around, his face is professionally stern. My vision swims around for a bit before focusing again as I feel the roaring fire that is probably broken ribs subside. Relan removes his hands and I hear him say something about me living but not to do anything for at least a week. Dalan comes over looking relieved and I feel some of my cuts and bruises fade away, I try to lift my head but hands come to hold it down. I move my eyes and see Azalia is the one doing so, her face is close and I see that she is very worried and even a hint of fear in her eyes.
“Well healer how is he?”
“He will live just fine my lady, just needs alot of rest and no strenuous movement for two weeks. Worst injury was some broken ribs and bruised innards but I managed to fix them quickly, he is in no danger of losing his life my lady. Dalen fixed up most of the rest so only a few applications of healing magic several times of day will be what is needed for him to heal fully”
“That is good to hear... guards carry him to a bed to rest, I need to talk to his parents and give them the good news”
“Yes M’am”
“Rest for now my knight, you gave me a good scare there but everything is fine for now so just rest” she looks deeply relieved and then nods to someone else and starts to turn to leave.
After this I see Relan come over muttering something that sounds like a sleep spell and soon everything blanks out.
