It rushed out of the forest onto the path, a massive land dragon of green, brown, black, and beige. The perfect camouflage for this terrain, all 5m of the damn thing. It stood taller than a man at 2m with fangs almost a ft long and claws a meter long. The overlapping scales were half a foot wide and covered the entirety of its body with only the joints being exposed with tough skin. It’s forked tongue slid out smelling and tasting where we stood. We stood in a semicircle around it arms at the ready but not daring to move, none wanted to be the first to attack.
Suddenly it struck, one second we were watching it the next everyone in a 60 degree cone was knocked flat on their back as a wave of something that was not quite air flew out from the beast. My body took a shockwave but thankfully it was not strong, about the level of a stiff breeze as the rest of the troop let out curses, one even insulted the beast’s mother for what it was worth. Landon and Tatiana however managed to stay up and hit it in the chest and shoulder but only weakened the scales, how tough are those things to take such hits. Those on the sides that were not hit rushed to try to hit it in the eye or the joints we could see, I also charged and tried to thrust my sword into what would be a knee joint. My blade managed to get through and pierce the sink but only sunk in 2 inches, a pinprick to this thing. The others were more lucky, two guards managed to sink their spears into the joints on the left arm of the beast where Landon had been hitting while the militia dragged the fallen soldiers away to safety. The guides had run off into the forest to find the other group or get back to camp as we planned. The beast snorted in annoyance and attempted to swat us away, the other guards dodged away for the most part though one man took a hit to the weapon and got launched meters away behind us. I attempted another two handed stab into the knee but the blade skid off the scales and I had to use the recoil to fall on my back behind the leg out of the way. The others meanwhile thrust their spears once more to distract it or hit the joints. Landon tried to hit it in the eye with his sword but had to dodge as it snapped at him. Tatiana took her glaive and hit the beast in the shoulder but only cut the scales without wounding it. The beast attempted to push forward in a charge and managed to send more soldiers on their back with its head and a shockwave. I took the chance to hit it in the back of the knee and succeeded the beast roaring in pain, as the militia helped more people onto their feet and ran distraction the remaining guards attacked again. One managed to thrust his spear into its shoulder that already had cuts from Tatiana while another hit its leg. More blood splattered as the beast pushed out with its tail into the group of guards as it turned to me, well now here's hoping that I can sustain ki reinforcement long enough to survive.
As its hateful gaze was focused on me I dodged to the right and kept running, this thing wants my blood, I was not staying still. “Hit it while it’s distracted!!” the leading guard yelled, “Keep distracting it young master” Landon boomed, are you not supposed to be worried about my safety?! Well fuck trying to hit it I am running, holding my sword carefully I kept running along the side of this thing, murder behind me and brutal beat down in front, well shit. I hear only lots of screaming both the beasts in pain cries and alot of cursing and battle cries behind me. Well now you guys let loose really now, at least this guy can’t properly turn to me with it’s injuries but I think that we are going to run out of insults at this rate.

What in the, my armour is hitched on it’s spike, it's a miracle I did not get impaled instead. What do you mean don’t move!, wait shit it’s shaking itself where is my knife gotta get out or I’ll get flipped onto a spike. This thing does not want me to be on its back at all, the blood rushes into my head as I start hacking at the leather around the puncture I am trying to widen the hole to get out. Judging by the screams and roars this thing is still busy, riieep YES I’M FREE. Sorry dad but its the armour or me, where is my sword I need that back. Its TIME FOR REVENGE LIZARD.
HAH there's my sword, setting my hands in both grips now is the time. KWUUEEEUON, ahhh music to my ears, Phack, ooomph. Dang that hurts, forgot the tail again. Breath in, Breath out, just breath, alright now time to get up;Ahhhgg everything is sore but im on my feet. “Young Master get over here quickly!”. Yeah that would be a good idea wouldn’t it, running back to the two while the guards and militia are busy stopping it from attacking. Looking at the beast well it is injured, we did manage to take out much of it’s armour and there are a lot of puncture wounds which bled. The ground was heavily trampled and marked from it’s thrashing and our movements with blood mixed in. Surprisingly nobody was dead though since we could swap out people that probably helped. The guards were the ones most injured with a lot of bruises and some had what looked like broken arms. The militia were better off as they were mostly busy helping with any injured guards and keeping their distance. The guides were off trying to get help fast.
Still this guy despite having its joints being cut and stabbed is still kicking, we can’t get a mortal blow at this rate.
“This thing is not dieing we should fall back to the camp, we keep this up and we will start losing people for too little!!” I yell to everyone.
“Chechh, alright fall back everyone. Alright Ana lets hit it with the heavy burst to stun it then fall back, if only we could actually use proper attacks with our old weapons”
“Fine but make sure to grab the young master if this does not work, and yeah this thing would be dead if we weapons we could use properly”

The roar of the beast ripples through the air as I see it get flung onto it’s back from the combined hit of the two, shit you guys just massed a shit ton of ki into a blast in seconds. Well enough time gawking “It’s down we need to move” “Yes lets young master” “Agreed”
As I turn from the scene all I can hear is thrashing as the lizard tries to overturn itself.
“Help those that are injured first leave, would going through the woods keep that thing off our backs or would it be faster on the path?”
“Getting through the woods would probably be better, i'll take time for that thing to get through that many trees not that it can in that state do anything easily” one of the guards gave his opinion.
“Alright leave in groups injured first with half the militia to help them, the rest get ready in case this thing comes. We will try to distract it long enough for them to get free then head down the path after breaking free. Careful of your footing, we can’t afford to lose anyone now”
“Yes mi’lord” “Thank you mi’lord” “Your will my lord”
The first bunch started heading off now but I managed to get a spear off of one of the injured. Well now time to put my words into action, I am sorta hoping we get those reinforcements now rather than later. Sorry sword but I’ll be back for you
