Prologue

Jeriah never really had big ambitions, live a peaceful life in his village of birth, was all he really planned to do. He was never really an outstanding person or anything like that, he would go a little out of the way to help people who really needed it, or help when a friend was in trouble. He had even stood up for what was right on occasion, but at the moment it seemed like a bad idea to do so. Especially since the several dozen armed bandits currently raiding his small homely village would kill him if he dared voice his concern over them just waltzing in and taking what they wanted.

Jeriah couldn't believe his luck, he had turned sixteen not several days ago and this was his the way he got treated.

'My goodness one of these days i'm going to have a heart attack, those big angry guys with the swords really need to be careful where they swing them, they might actually hurt somebody.' was the genuine thought of a young crimson haired and somewhat naive boy.

This boy was of course none other than Jeriah. Jeriah stood at a few inches taller than most people, but not in the lanky way you would expect, Jeriah was well built but not overly so. His snow white skin belied the many hours he had spent in the sun working. Jeriah never had much, but he liked to think everything he had was because of honest hard work. He grew up an orphan, not even knowing his parents. He grew up a child of the village itself more than anything, they all let him stay in their homes and fed him until he was 12. At which point he started to work hard, and over the past four years he has done his best to provide for himself, while doing whatever he could for the village, and while the villagers had long considered whatever debt Jeriah thought he owed them payed, he disagreed.

His outward appearance gave him a regal and almost unapproachable look, but once you got to know him he could easily be the nicest person you knew. The kids he grew up with always made fun of him, mostly because of his not having parents, but also somewhat because of their jealously of his striking good looks, but he didn't mind. Only one girl from his generation had even spoken to him, and when she did they became fast friends, eventually becoming more than that when Jeriah asked Lucy to marry him a few days before his 16th birthday. To him it was the start of something great, the beginning of his new life with Lucy, providing for her and the village as best he could was all he wanted to do.

Truly a far cry from the situation now, all of the villagers stood in the center of town. While there were more villagers than bandits, it wasn't the first time bandits had raided their village. The Bandits usually took a few valuables and what food they needed to survive then simply left. So the villagers didn't really see a need to try and fight back against the bandits.

But like all great stories there is indeed a twist.

Suddenly everyone began hearing a great rumbling noise outside of town, bandits and villagers both, were suprised by this. So eventually the leader bandit sent someone to see what was happening. After a few minutes there was good news and badnews, the good news was the bandit sent to investigate was back, the bad news was that his head was on the pike of what looked to be an entire horde of rabid lizardmen. 8 foot tall bipedal lizard monsters eager to destroy and pillage.

You can probably guess where this is going am I right? Well chances are, you are oh so very right if you think what ensued was bloody slaughter and not a tea party for fae's. (If you're looking for a fae tea party, this is the wrong side of town if you catch my drift.)

What happened next was indeed bloody slaughter, to quite a detesting degree honestly. Jeriah watched as everyone and everything that mattered to him was culled and put to blade and flame before his very eyes. That moment in which his village was burning down, that moment in which he lost his true love, that moment in which he felt that he had nothing left, little did he know just how much that moment would change his life forever. Whether for good or bad only Jeriah and whatever fate he had could tell.
