Chapter 2

Jeriah woke up with a frantic start, it took him several minutes to calm down and realize he was alive. Upon said realization finally hitting him, he took the time to slowly scan around.

What he saw, was in his opinion, quite the surprise. He swiveled his head and his gaze around the dimly lit room, not thinking about how it didn't even hurt to turn. He seemed to be on some kind of bed, which was in turn is some kind of infirmary, judging by the counter with cabinets with medical supplies both on top and inside of it. Jeriah didn't have to wait long for someone to come in so he could demand an explanation.

'The old me would have politely asked, hmph, well that's not who I am anymore. I've been polite and kind my entire life, and look where that has gotten me.' he thought grimly. What had happened briefly surfaced in his mind, but he pushed it away to be delt with at a later date.

The person who came in was none other than some random nurse lady whom he didn't know. He sat up to speak to her and made sure not to hide the killing intent in his voice, nor the icy tone of it.

"Where am I."

Startled by the sudden voice coming from behind her, she spun around quickly.

"Ummm, you are in the royal castle, in the capital of Agartha. It's good to see you awake, you've been out for almost a week you know." She said, almost completely unphased by his tone.

Jeriah immediately stood up from the bed and was about to leave when he noticed that the only thing that had been covering him had been the blanket on the bed. The nurse blushed then left while saying

"P-Please wait here, I'll bring you some clothes, then you have been asked to meet with the king."

Jeriah then promptly sat down back on the bed, feeling absolutely no shame.

'I wonder why her face was red, was she perhaps cold? No that couldn't be it, had it been cold my member would be alot smaller. ... Ohhhhhhhhhhh, that was probably why, note to self public indecency should be avoided.'

In truth, Jeriah had always been somewhat dense when dealing with the finer gender.

She returned a few minutes later while not looking into the room, and handed Jeriah some clothes, which consisted of, black soldier boots, black leather pants, and a somewhat softer than normal grey fabric long-sleeved shirt. He then got dressed, and combed his hair with his hand as best he could before walking out of the room and following the nurse to the royal throne room, where he could only assume he would be meeting the king. While on the way there, he wondered when they had taken his measurements for the comfortable and well fitting clothes he was now wearing. He blushed in embarrassment when the memory of how Lucy would make fun of him when the tailor was taking his measurements, as he was well known for going through clothes faster than most. It wasn't his fault, really, trouble just seemed to find him. He then looked down at the thought that she would never do that again, as she was dead, no amount of clothes, teasing, friends, money, slaying, or vengeance would fix that. He was a failure, he wasn't sure why he kept walking forward instead of just laying down there and dying. But still he walked on, determination in his eyes, just because no amount of any of that would bring her back didn't mean he couldn't try, he would be strong, be wealthy, and slay whatever he felt needed such a thing.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

Jeriah entered through the large golden doors and instantly matched the gaze of the king, which he knew to be a sign of disrespect but he generally did not care, about anything.

The king, a handsome looking man sitting on a goldnen throne with his family, in similar but slightly smaller thrones. The kings family consisted of the king himself, his wife, his two daughters and the crown prince.

"Your majesty, presenting the only survivor of the recent lizard horde incident." said a plump man in fancy garb.

The king then spoke to Jeriah,

"Boy, what happened to your village?"

In truth the king already knew all that had traspired at the village including the massacre and counter massacre. The king had even gone as far too have some royal mages use manager tools to record what had happened in magical video format. The entire present court had witnessed it, the king had meant for them to witness the monster horde so they would band together and put more effort into the war with the Demon Emporer, even if their country wasn't under harsh threat of at the front lines, it would soon reach them and they would need all their strength when the time came. With that in mind the king was brought out of his thoughts when the young man spoke.

"In my village, I had family, not blood family, but I loved everyone in it, some far more than I've ever loved myself or anything else. They took it from me, nobody takes from me, not without paying the price." Jeriah said bluntly, without any regard for what others would think of him.

Everyone in the room was baffled by the response, hence the room wide jaw dropping. Why would such a young boy say such a disturbing thing, they understood he had been through a tradegy, but most people would at least try to not be so forthcoming about it.

...

It took a few moments for anyone to even try to formulate a response to that.

"You truly are strong to have defeated all those lizardmen by yourself like that, it would've taken the entire knight squad I had sent to ward them off, even then it wouldn't have been a sure victory. Tell me, would you be interested in going to the adventurer academy here in the capital under my sponsorship?"

Currently lacking a purpose, and knowing that it would be better for his mental state if he had something to busy himself with, Jeriah couldn't see a reason to disagree. This would even help him become stronger, his manic smile returned and left in the blink of an eye.

"Good, then we'll have to pack you some things and you'll be off by this time tomorrow."He said in a tone that was both jovial an brooked no argument.
