Chapter 39: Elves and Eggs

Chapter 39: Elves and Eggs

As the guards drew their swords on Mellie she let out an aggravated huff, blowing the hair out of her face. Pinching her face, she cast Incubus Lure on the guards and continued walking in the front door. To everyone's astonishment the guards began making out as the woman they were about to confront walked right into town with no further problems.

Holding an audience with the King is a difficult thing to do as an Elven Noble. An outsider that looked like a human was just laughed at. After Mary got an ear prostetic from Janet, Mary had sought to acquire two for Mellie for the duration of her stay in Reglar. With her hood pulled up, Mellie followed Henry and Mary as they bought her ear prostetics for mutilated elves. Mellie would feel guilty if she ever felt any sort of need to take an elfs ear. She hadn't. Now disguised as an elf, they proceeded toward the castle.

Rounding on the giant tree and glass construction, her eyes widened. The castle was built from the surounding trees and elven magic. Each room was grown in supreme detail and imbedded with enchantments for good fortune and future. Approaching the structure, the people became more and more decadent and she began to stick out like a sore thumb. Feeling self concious, she walked up to the castle and turned around, smiling at her friends.

"I can take this from here guys. I think the only way I'm gonna be able to confront this guy is on my own terms, and that will get me hopefully at worse imprisoned, at best with a delicious sandwich in my tummy. So Henry go give your wives some love for me, and Mary, go ahead and get your supplies. I'll meet you back at The Hobble Hole later. I'd like to stay there for a little bit. Maybe check out Henry's once I get a break from all the rush rush. Sound good?" she suggested. Bringing both Henry and Mary meant having help, but it also meant having to sneak two more people into the palace. She could chance it on her own. It was her responsibility anyway. After saying goodbye to her friends, she watched the gates looking for a shadow to slip into. A handsome man in a blue uniform saw her eyeing the gate and strolled up to her nonchalantly and stood next to her, joining in her search. Ten seconds later she burst out laughing.

"What on Alanor are you doing, girl. Don't you have anything better to do than stare at a boring fence. I should know. It's quite boring." he jested.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you." she explained.

"Try me." he said, cocking his head. People were starting to shoot them glances, wondering why this fancy officer was talking to this woman.

"I'm carrying the king's grandson in my bag." she stated frankly. He didn't laugh. He eyed her up and down and looked at her face to see if he recognized her. Visably shaking off that thought, he looked off to the side.

"Can I see the child?" he asked, gently.

"You believe me?" she asked the man.

"Seeing is believing," he stated raising his eyebrows.

"And if I show you the child, then what happens."

"What, indeed." he said with a reserved smile. "If this is really the King's bastard grandson, I'm sure he would love to meet him."

"I never said anything about a bastard." Mellie snapped, indignant. And then she blushed. She really knew nothing about the man, and had only accidentally married him and here she was defending herself and her egg from some rando. His eyebrows raised.

"Oh so you're a Queen then are you?" he asked, mockingly.

"Yeah, he didn't even tell me he was a prince either. Just popped it into conversation like everyone else. Why are the pledge lines soooo alike. It makes no sense. But yeah. Baby in bag. Need King. Girl Seeks Help. That's me. Girl. Can you help?" she asked the man. "I'm sorry, what's your name?" she smiled as she pushed her clevage up at him, purposefully. He was a nice looking guy, and bastard was a normal term thrown around in this world. Even if she didn't like it.

"And where praytell is this husband of yours now?" the man asked as he leaned closer to her. She may be nuts but she was beautiful.

"That's kind of a long story, but let's just say he's gone and he's not coming back for any of us." she explained, shrugging.

He persed his lips. "And what was the father's name maam?" he said with more seriousness.

"Erik. Erik Estridal. Tall handsome elf. Blonde hair. ice blue eyes. I rescued him from slavery in Nort." she said to the man who was now leading her through the gates of the palace.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

The man blanched. "Slavery. Oh gods." He stopped walking and stared at his feet for a few moments.

"I'm sorry I thought you knew. I guess it makes sense that you don't. A day has felt like a lifetime running from that place." she explained.

"One can only imagine." he said looking at her with new eyes. "May I see the child?" he asked her.

"Not without the King or proper assurances that I won't be hurt. And only you. No one else." she decided.

Leading her into his study Price Liam escorted the black haired temptress to the seat across from him. On guard against the possibility of her being a spy, he brought out the machine to check her status. Being that he hadn't seen his brother in months, he was hopeful that some news of him had returned. The world outside the kingdom for elves was a dangerous place, so when he hadn't returned from his monster hunt, they had assumed the worse. As their mother had passed and he hadn't taken a wife yet, they were unaware of what had happened after he had left for his hunt. Slavery was the worst fate. They had actually hoped he had only been on a drinking binge, or having a go at the local brothels. His brother had been a wastrel, and had no political sense. He didn't live up to his potential but he was family.

He pushed the fingerpad across the table and arranged the expensive projector to his wall as he waited to see if this woman had a shred of truth in her. She pressed her thumb onto the status screen.

Seeing the womans status, Liam Estridal, second prince of Reglar stood up abruptly from his chair. "I.. I'll go get the King. Actually, Follow me." he said, holding his arm out to help her from her seat. Feeling underdressed and understood she followed the man as he escorted her into his fathers study. Knocking on the large double doors, standing between the guards, Mellie gripped Liams arm a little tighter as the light cracked through the parting doors.

Approaching the desk, the two of them bowed. "Yes Liam? You've brought company?" asked King Consort Ardon.

"Father, please clear the room. We have a family matter to discuss." Liam said gravely.

"Dismissed. Please leave us." he said moving the paperwork he was invested in, aside. After the room cleared, Liam passed the projector to his father, showing him the womans status. as he explained.

"She told me she's ours Father. She's Eriks'. He left her with a babe. She said he's in her bag. Still wary the King requested.

"If this is my grandson, I would like to meet him. But tell me, if this is my grandchild, where is my son?" The kind king asked, sadly. He had enjoyed his sons company, for all the problems he caused. When the boys mother had passed he had began acting out of character. Maybe he overindulged him at the time. He had grown up spoiled and unmotivated, so when he began hunting monsters in the woods, the King was happy to oblige his curiousities. Anything for a change. A change that never came.

"I'm sorry but he's gone and he's never coming back. A curse devoured his body. He didn't tell me which curse it was and I don't know why my status didn't change. All I know is my son is half Estridal elf, and half Adams half whatever I am now. " She explained. "But that's why I came here. Because we didn't mean for this to happen, it just happened." to which they looked at her incredulously. All pregnancies had a yes or no option after the implantation happened. Mellie's pregnancy was not of her will, because of her spell and the nature of her magic. Something this King would not quite understand.

She pulled a large dragon egg out of her bag. King Consort Argan gasped in pleasure. A dragon elf king! His line would be unstoppable! Dragons and elves were the most magical creatures there were. There was a time long ago when Elves worshipped Dragons. To have a part dragon not only part of his family, but contributing to his line was a fate beyond words.

Baby Estridal, Draconic Elven Princeling, unborn

"Guess I should name him. Any suggestions Gramps?" She asked the King Consort, also wondering why a King Consort is ruling a Queendom. Elves are confusing.

"We can discuss this at length my dear. for my grandson. Oh my. What a grandson. What a son! I'm so happy to have you in our family my dear. Please follow the staff to the Queensuite and have the adjoining room equipped with a nice... nest? for my grandson. My Grandson! I'm a Grandfather!" he said, stroking the egg. "With a nice warm fire. Whatever he needs. A draconic elven king! In our lifetime! Prepare a feast!" He said handing the egg off to Mellie, smiling.

"One moment Liam!" said the king as Mellie and Liam began leaving the study. Hanging back, he seated himself attentively across from his father. "Yes Father?" questioned the man.

"That woman is a genetic goldmine. Bed her. Make her bear your children. Make her your wife, your lover your anything. She is the future. If we don't betray this woman we could retake Nort, son. This child alone may be the spark our people need to stop the madness of this world." he said in all honesty. "Marry her. Bed her. Do what you must. We must keep this woman part of our people.

"Yes Father!" he said with a smile. Bed and marry that woman? He would do complete this assignment with a smile on his face. If his twin could do it, so could he. Strolling up to her bedroom with a bottle of Reglar wine, Liam knocked on the door.
