Sera stands still in the center of her room, naked, trying not to get embarrassed at the skeleton observing every inch of her body. Mercifully, Vey had started with the small scar that was formerly an arrow wound, and had worked its way around her neck to her other shoulder, before moving on to her back. The only reason she’s been able to remain somewhat calm so far is Vey’s insistence on checking her now well and truly healed injury took precedence over, say, marking how her butt and thighs have grown since the last time Vey checked, which is what it is doing right now. That little bit of time to mentally prepare herself was instrumental in not feeling any more awkward than she already is.
Honestly though, she understood Vey’s logic when it had asked. She does feel like she’s been growing, and she does feel like it has been a while since Vey last did one of these checkups with her. That was partially her fault. Sera had begun to develop a bit of… frustration… in her lower regions in the last two months or so, and had been artfully deflecting Vey’s attention to other things out of the potential embarrassment she would feel if forced to admit that. It’s not like Vey would even understand, but it still made her cheeks and ears hot to think about how to explain something like that regardless.
Vey’s inspection finally reaches the front of her body, starting with her legs, and Sera closes her eyes and inhales deeply. It is weird, objectively, that Vey has taken an interest in how her body is developing. It is weirder, objectively, that Sera feels so… strangely content with having a skeleton test the suppleness of her calves and thighs with clawed fingers. It is downright objectively insane that Sera finds herself able to stay calm like this. As Vey’s inspection reaches her abdomen, and it begins taking notes comparing her old, gaunt form to her current, healthy one, she decides to try and make things at least a little less awkward with some conversation.
“Vey, do you have an opinion on how I’m… growing?” Sera makes sure to stand as still as possible when she speaks, not that Vey is focusing on her over its notes right now.
“I don’t know what opinion I should have.” Vey answers rather bluntly, before returning to her chest, comparing the size of her breasts with its notes from several months prior.
“Ah. I suppose you wouldn’t get it… Wait, what gender is or was the skeleton you… thats too confusing, what gender was the corpse you were raised from?” Sera’s sudden excitable tone throws off Vey’s examination, and her light shaking causes one of Vey’s claws to press into her sternum more than is comfortable for just a moment.
“Status.” Vey says to itself, before finishing its work, and returning to the wooden table to write down the changes. “It says Skeleton[Human, Male, Adult]. Does that answer your question?”
Sera nods in confirmation, and stands still, lost in thought for a few moments while Vey writes. Vey wonders what prompted that question, though the mention of genders and her naked state begin drawing parallels between some previous conversations they’ve had. The concept of sexual attraction was one Vey still doesn’t fully understand, at least not completely. It understands that it isn’t that Vey is asexual by some conscious choice, but by its very nature of simply not having organs to facilitate that sort of thing. Vey even managed to convey through the command bond that some of the more intact zombies do retain at least a very, very rudimentary sense of libido, even if they no longer possess the mental state to act on it.
That is meaningless to Vey, though, as it doesn’t have one, never has, and doesn’t plan to acquire a body that would, so the concept of whether or not Sera’s body is sexually attractive is entirely irrelevant to it. If that wasn’t the answer Sera was looking for, then perhaps it should try and make some amount of effort to appease her.
“If you meant to ask if I prefer your current appearance to the way I initially found you, yes, I prefer you now, though for reasons entirely separate from your concept of attraction.” Vey watches as its statement seems to snap Sera back to reality, and that familiar red color returns to her face almost instantly. “I thought you said that most mortals are supposed to be older than you are before sexual things start mattering to them, though?”
“Ah. it’s more like… um… can… I will explain later…” Sera’s voice stutters about, and she begins putting back on her clothes. Vey makes note of the fact that her original shirt no longer fits her chest properly, and now only the former adventurer girls’ clothes do so adequately. Vey imagines that if it suddenly found some of its bones to be different sizes that they had been before, it would be very annoyed, but annoyed doesn’t appear to be the expression on Sera’s face as she uses her arms to push her chest together for a moment, before continuing dressing.

“I’m going to the upper level of the dungeon to work on some things. I don’t want you to come with me, please stay down here for a few hours, six at most. I’ll return in time to provide you with food and such.” Vey says rather bluntly, and stands up for its chosen task of scoping out a good ambush sight on the road to the village.
The moment Vey is gone, Sera collapses on the bed and clutches her face in her hands, and feels her ears get so hot that she thinks they might actually burn off. Why am I seeking compliments on my body from a fucking skeleton! How am I even supposed to explain that that is what I was doing, even if I didn’t realize it at the time? What would I have even said if it did comment on my breasts or my butt or anything? Her thoughts echo in her head, only further boiling the blood in her face. Vey doing that would be terrifying for the sole reason that it would mean that it did understand and feel attraction, and the thought that her owner and collector seeing her in that way would be incredibly unsettling.
Sera tries to just forget that anything she said and anything Vey said back simply never happened, but she knows that trying to pretend like that is something Vey won’t approve of. She pushes her breasts together with her arms, and looks down at them briefly. She repeats similar processes for everything that would be considered ‘desirable’ by most standards. Her butt is maybe a little small, her thighs are a little too thick, her breasts aren’t as big as any human girl’s would be, even if they are large for an elf, and her stomach lacks the musculature and mass to be anything more than simply there. She feels completely and utterly average in every way. In fact, she wonders why the necromancer(Sera’s finally managed to start calling him that as opposed to ‘him’ or ‘that man’) even kidnapped her specifically in the first place.
In the end, she settled for Vey’s preferred explanation. Bad luck. Bad luck for being kidnapped, back luck for not surviving it, bad luck bad luck bad luck. Her Lck stat is -4 now, but supposedly it was a completely ordinary 0 before the incident, so she can’t even blame the system. Status.

She bounces back from her momentary low point at record pace when she spots that she has grown not just in appearance, but also in her physical stats as well her height. The fact that her exact birthday is coming up in thirteen days is interesting, as she never actually knew her exact birthday before, since she had so few reasons to check her status before the last few months of her life up until now. Her maximum health, strength, and constitution are almost at the supposed average value for humanoids her size, which matches her assessment of her own body earlier, and likely matches with Vey’s as well.
Sera blinks twice as she looks at the menus only she can see, and the obvious fact hits her like a thrown brick. Something so easy, so fundamental, and so simple that both her and the skeleton smarter than her missed it.
“Why the fuck did we not just talk about my status instead of me getting poked at every time!?”
