Making her way down the stairs, Kelsey passed groups of lower leveled people who were making preparations to visit floors two through four. She heard chatter that a large expedition of lower leveled adventurers all arrived together from a city to the west called Kaymal. She even saw a group in front of the door to the werewolves on floor five. There were 6 of them, they were all above level 95, with the highest being level 106. They gave her a scrutinizing look as she passed them while heading towards the door. She simply met their eyes before opening the door and walking into the fifth floor.
Wasting no time, Kelsey checked her surroundings to ensure no one was nearby, then teleported in the direction of the cathedral. Upon arriving, she saw the Bloody Werewolf standing in the same spot as it was when she had first seen him. However, since the cathedral was now utterly destroyed, the bloody werewolf standing in the middle of what appeared to be a ransacked cathedral certainly gave off a different feeling than it had the day before.
“Hey Bloody, I’m back for round two. Sorry about bailing yesterday, you were just way stronger than I anticipated.” she said in a friendly tone. “I’m going to try to keep my end of the bargain today.”
“Good. I was worried I had scared you off.” he said, his gnarled voice echoing against the bare walls of the cathedral.
“Not a chance.” she said as she summoned a dozen giant great swords and grabbed them with her Telekinesis. “I have something planned for you."
The great swords she had created were significantly larger than any human would be able to wield with their body. One thing she had re-learned since coming to Anoura is that no matter how strong someone was, if you tried using a weapon too large and heavy for your weight, it would throw off your center of balance and you’d be unable to swing it properly. She was sure she had heard that before, but it had slipped her mind when she tried using a several hundred kilo great sword made from her telekinetic creation and nearly fell to her face mid swing.
Thankfully, she didn’t have to worry about that particular quirk of physics as she was controlling these particular blades with Telekinesis. She was pretty sure she would be able to manipulate roughly 20 of the great swords at a time with her level of control, but just making the twelve during the previous evening had left her with a headache so bad she had gotten nauseous.
She could tell that the werewolf had not been expecting such a different method of attack from her and his eyes widened slightly, and he dropped into a defensive stance.
Kelsey decided it would be best for her to make the first move. She immediately activated her teleport, appeared 20 meters away, directly behind the werewolf, and launched the blades at her target. She had decided that the most effective strategy would be to split the great swords mentally into two groups and attack with them separately, alternating between groups on each swing. Each group would all attack together, aimed at different parts of the body and coming from different directions.
Her plan worked flawlessly. As she started her assault, it forced the werewolf to block from every angle at once. Using this technique, she was able to create a constant pressure and push the werewolf back over 40 meters into the middle of the street.
The onslaught from the blades was so persistent that the werewolf was completely unable to retreat or defend himself fully. She found that controlling the twelve swords was actually easier than she had anticipated. Since there was no body with muscles, or bones controlling the blades, they were free to rotate and turn in whatever direction was the most effective for her at any given time. This also had the added benefit of making the great swords unpredictable and difficult to read.
Try as he might, he was simply unable to dodge or block all of her attacks, he was taking constant wounds every single time she alternated groups. This fact didn’t change even when he increased his body size and speed like he had done last time. He was being pushed back further and further. She felt like a conductor directing their band, ensuring they stay on beat and that each player came in when they were supposed to. Except her instruments were giant swords.
As they were coming close to a building, the werewolf realized that he would have his back against the wall if he let this continue, so he leapt upwards as high as he could and landed on a nearby rooftop. He then pulled out the small blade from his robe and used it to induce bleeding on himself once again. She stood back and let it happen, as she had a plan for how to deal with the blood magic this time and she needed to test it.
As the blood began pouring out of the werewolf’s arm it began moving and shifting in order to form a solid ring around the werewolf that began rotating around him slowly.
They both waited patiently, staring silently at one another for several long seconds.
This time, the werewolf made the first move. He extended his hand towards her, and a half dozen whips of blood extended from the ring around him and began striking towards Kelsey. That’s a new one. She thought as she sprang into action, activating her teleport and moving herself to a building nearby. The roof of the building she had just been standing on was utterly destroyed under the werewolf’s powerful assault.
I definitely don't want to get hit by that...
Once she was safely on the nearby roof, she brought the great swords back to herself and stored half of them in her vault, leaving her with six to use. She had just enough time to summon her next piece of equipment as the werewolf began searching for her.
She thanked the interaction with that Leon guy from the previous night for giving her the idea for her next weapon as she pulled out a giant hammer. The hammer was over a meter wide and long. If it were made from steel, it would have weighed multiple tons. Unfortunately for her, in this case, her telekinetic equipment was significantly lighter than metal and thus it only weighed a couple hundred kilograms.
She still thought it would be heavy enough to work in this case, so she launched her weapons towards the werewolf. She lashed out at him with her great swords first, forcing him to defend with his blood magic, and then, the moment he did, she used telekinesis to slam the hammer into the blood ring, shattering the hardened liquid into jagged fragments. The werewolf was briefly stunned, and Kelsey could tell that he had just received some sort of magical blowback from his skill shattering. She took this opportunity to decapitate her opponent with one of her great swords, finishing the fight instantly.

Hope you get some rest, wofly...
Feeling ecstatic about her new technique, Kelsey spent the next 18 hours systematically finding, and killing each and every Werewolf of Blood she could. She spoke with all of them first, and they all told her a similar story of punishment and a desire to rest. One of them finally gave her a little bit more information about the punishment, saying "he imprisoned us". The werewolf wouldn't elaborate any more, but now she at least knew it was a singular individual responsible for their imprisonment.
By the end of the day, she had temporarily freed over seventy of them and was level 98, two levels from her advancement. All of her class skills were also now at their maximum level, meaning that she was primed to advance the moment she achieved level 100.
During this time, she was getting quite comfortable controlling summoned weapons as her new primary way of fighting. She found that they were significantly more consistent due to their unique blend of versatility and power compared to anything she had tried previously. She even went and hunted some of the regular werewolves to see a comparison. Fights with them that had previously taken an average of 10 or more minutes were now over in seconds. She hadn’t gotten much stronger; she was just now using her powers in a way that played to their strengths more. Now that she had tried this method, she felt somewhat silly for not thinking of it earlier.
The bloody werewolves were a different story. She learned quite quickly that each one of them had a different fighting style and used different weapons, on top of using their blood magic in completely different ways from one another. Each fight with them lasted on average fifteen minutes as she slowly learned their techniques and figured out how to counter them using her new fighting style. There were multiple times that she got overconfident fighting them and suffered serious damage for it. Over the course of the day, those occurrences happened less and less often until she began to feel like she had a proper understanding of the limits of her new technique.
After spending all day, and part of the evening fighting, Kelsey decided to make her way back upstairs and camp on the first floor. She not only needed rest, but she also needed to sit down and think about the options for her second class which she was intending to reach the following day. She thought back to the list of specialty classes and started considering what she needed. Her skills were already incredibly versatile, but they did have their weaknesses. She was basically a jack of all trades, master of none kind of combatant right now. If an enemy outclassed her in any of the main categories she always struggled. The werewolves were fast and could regenerate. Those two specialties made them both hard to kill, and deadly. The Minotaur boss she fought in the Bunker had an incredible offense but lacked a meaningful defensive answer to her skills other than chucking its axe at her head. This meant that the entire fight against it was walking on a knife's edge.
So, she needed to pick something that either made her even more versatile which would minimize the weaknesses she suffered when fighting something that outclassed her in a specific area, or she needed to lean heavily into offense or defense with her second class. It also needed to be something that would work with her attributes, as she was getting more and more Intelligence and Willpower every time she leveled up. It wouldn’t make much sense for her to pick an archer type class without also getting more Dexterity.
A lot of her considerations were dependent on what her advancement in her primary class did. She had heard that the Gold advancement was quite an extreme upgrade for most people. She wasn’t confident that would be the case for her since her abilities were already so advanced for her level, but time would tell.
While considering her options, Kelsey spent some time mindlessly practicing her mana control in order to learn the Minor Water Creation general skill, and about an hour after sitting down, it happened.
She wasn’t even focusing on the process, she was fully focused on her potential class selection when suddenly, the mana in her hands spontaneously turned into water and fell through her fingers.
*ding* You have learned the general skill Minor Water Creation - lvl 1
Hell yes! Hell yes! Hell yes! I did it! And right before I advanced too! She thought excitedly. It's unfortunate that it happened while I wasn’t even paying attention, I have no idea why it finally worked.
Feeling giddy, Kelsey spent the next hour or so testing the limits of her new water creation skill. She found that she was able to create roughly 4 liters of water every second. It wasn’t much, but it was certainly a nice skill to have. She was mostly excited because now she could have baths whenever she wanted without worrying about water. The monster core water didn’t last long enough to actually take a bath in, so really that was the main benefit for her. That, and what she learned about mana control from the process of learning the skill of course.
A few hours after receiving her general skill, and not having come any closer to an idea as to what to choose for her second class, Kelsey gave up and went to bed.
The next morning Kelsey woke filled with excitement and a not insignificant amount of anxiety about her upcoming advancement. She then got dressed and walked down to floor five to begin her journey to level 100.
It was six hours later when she finally received the notification she had been waiting for after killing her 108th Bloody Wolf.

About time… It feels so good to finally be advancing again. She didn’t hit yes on either of them while she was on floor five, instead, she decided to do her advancement in her tent on the first floor. She was excited, but she didn’t want to get too distracted and let a werewolf sneak up on her or something.
After sitting down in her tent, Kelsey reopened the notifications and began her Class advancement first.

Kelsey stared blankly at the options for several minutes, completely stunned by what she read.
Magus…
She had read through the other options and the only one that interested her besides Magus was the Mageblood Arcanist of Creation class.
The Magus class was clearly the best option. There was no doubt in her mind that choosing Magus was the correct choice, but she was nervous. The description for the Magus class said nothing about Spatial magic, and she had grown to love her current skills.
She had never heard of a class with a one-word name. Based on the description and the name, something about the class seemed special. She didn't exactly know why, but it didn't fit the assumptions she'd made about classes. It was clearly still some sort of mage class, but it didn't talk about any specific element, nor did it talk about a specific way of fighting.
Everything about the Magus class description, and requirements spoke to her on some sort of primal level. There was one glaring problem though.
You shall walk alone. That phrase kept repeating in her mind. She didn’t know exactly what it meant, but it had two possible implications she could think of. The first was that it was some sort of prophecy or warning. The idea that choosing this class would push her down the path of loneliness.
She absolutely hated that idea and wanted to choose Mageblood Arcanist of Creation out of fear. But she steeled herself and considered the other option.
The second possible implication was that if she chose this class, she would be the only living Magus because there could only be one Magus at any given time, meaning that she would be ‘alone’.
Neither option was particularly pleasant.
She spent several minutes trying to come up with other possible meanings for the requirement, but she couldn’t think clearly due to the pure excitement of the advancement.
Kelsey read over the description of the Magus class very carefully as she considered what it meant. ‘A true master of mana and she shall be unrivaled.’
It's such a strange phrase to include in a class description. I don’t feel like I’m particularly gifted when it comes to my understanding of mana, but I guess I don’t really have anyone to compare myself to.
I have been progressing quickly, absolutely, but it doesn’t feel like the reason is raw talent or anything. It is obviously because of my Mageblood body. I’m able to fight almost constantly thanks to regeneration, and I have higher attributes than average. I don’t need to worry about having a healer on standby, I don’t need to worry about losing limbs, and I don’t need to share experience with a party. It's the perfect formula for rapid advancement...
Is there a chance that I have some fundamental understanding or talent that other people don’t have? I feel like I would have learned about that when I was training with Owen and Lisa. Though we didn’t do much magic training… They spent more time working on survival skills and teaching me about monsters.
I guess I’ll have to talk to them the next time I get a chance.
It’s impossible to know for sure what the right choice is before I choose the class. But I feel like I have to take the risk. I’ve been presented with what could be an incredible opportunity. The descriptions and requirements just scream to me that the class is unique and important in some way.
The next half hour of Kelsey’s life was filled with anxiety and second guesses. She was unused to this kind of stress, she had always felt like making big life choices was easy for her, but this was a choice that could seal her fate one way or another for the next 150 levels of life and death situations. But her main concern was the ‘You shall walk alone’ line. Her fear over being alone was nearly debilitating.
She also wasn’t thrilled with the idea that this might end up changing the way she fought. She loved her spatial magic, and would hate to lose it, even if the Magus class ended up being much stronger.
It doesn’t matter though, does it? I would be kicking myself 'literally' for all eternity if I didn’t take the risk.
Breathing in deeply, Kelsey took the plunge and made her choice.

As Kelsey read the last line of her notifications, the final requirement made significantly more sense to her. She was unable to have any additional classes. I am a Magus… not a Mageblood Arcanist of Creation ‘and’ a fire mage. I am a Magus…
She didn't know for sure that was what the line was referring to, nor why it would be phrased in such an odd way, but it was an explanation for the requirement that she hadn't considered.
Upon learning that, the stress and anxiety she had been feeling about the requirement being prophetic or something melted away and was replaced by pure excitement.
This notification also confirmed the existence of tertiary classes. She was going to have to tell her friends about that.
Kelsey began reading through her new skills as the reality of what just occurred sunk in. She was no longer a Spatial mage. She was something much, much more.
So, Magus not only requires that you have the Eye of the Magus, a Mageblood Body, a Minor Creation General skill, and a Creation Class skill, you also have to do your advancement before choosing a second class.
This class better be worth it.
Kelsey quickly checked her status screen to confirm one of her new class benefits.
