Invasion Part 1

POV Viscount Olmar

Looking over the walls, large amounts of military tents could be seen. Soldiers training, sharpening weapons, and supply wagons getting checked. In one of the biggest tents, all the important nobles, generals, and captains were having a war meeting. One could tell that they were not worried about the invasion, since they were all just having drinks and laughing.

"Honestly, for Viscount Conner to fall to a bastard brat is hilarious. Now this brat thinks he can contest with us, he's still wet behind the ears." General Palmar said.

"With my 30,000 soldiers, and the 50,000 capital reinforcements, we number 80,000 strong. Even the Merchants guild has sent us 20,000 mercenaries, to top it off the mage guild sent 100 silver rank mages. Once this is done, we will parade that clown in the streets and have a nice execution." Said Viscount Olmar.

Even if the king hadn't sent his reinforcements, Viscount Olmar was confident in beating the bastard prince. Once he learned from the guilds that it was him behind the attack, he really thanked his ancestors. If he presented the traitors head to the king, his position would surely rise.

"Congratulations Viscount Olmar, after this victory, don't forget about us when you get promoted by the king haha!" Said Baron Wason, one of Viscount Olmars noble lackeys.

"Of course Wason, how can I forget the amount of gold and soldiers you have provided for me all these years. Not only you, but everyone in this tent will be well compensated." Replied Olmar in a good mood.

"The Viscount is too generous and kind"

"Truly fit to become a count"

"I will make sure to have my beautiful daughter become your concubine."

Praises and cheers were given to Olmar, as he thought about his bright future. The celebrating was cut short when a knight came into the tent, he leaned against the Viscounts ear and whispered. All the other men in the room just looked at Olmars face changing expressions. Anger, confusion, and a hint of worry. Once he received the report he dismissed the knight.

"Is their anything we have to worry about Olmar?" General Palmar asked.

All Olmar could do was sit in his seat, staring at his goblet still filled with wine. Once he snapped out of it, he looked at the men in front of him with a solemn stare.

"Ready the men, I just received news that the surrounding towns have just been subjugated, and we just lost contact with all our scouts." Olmar said in a deep grave tone.

"Viscount, how can this be true! To take the surrounding territories, we would have seen such a force walking our lands! The towns should have sent reports of a siege attack!." General Palmar rebuked, slamming the table.

"I agree with the General, the towns would have surely sent a message. We should bring that knight back in here, and question him on where he received such ridiculous news. I suspect a possible spy tempering with information." Baron Wason said.

All of the men went up in chaos, yelling and saying their own opinions on the matter. Until Viscount Olmar had enough of their useless ranting.

"SILENCE!" The whole tent went quiet at the Viscounts shout. "I have already come to the same conclusions as all of you, but I have specifically placed my own shadows in each town. Their task is to send 2 reports everyday, in preparation for the battle or enemy attack. They all have gone silent since this morning. So I order you again to ready the m-"

Suddenly warning bells were being wrung outside and a loud yell could be heard.

"ENEMY APPROACHING!!! BATTLE FORMATIONS!!! ENEMY APPROACHING!!! BATTLE FORMATIONS!!!"

All of them jumped out of their seats, running out and giving off orders to the soldiers.

"Shield bearers get to the frontlines! we're wide open for an attack! Archers and mages go to the backlines!" Yelled the Viscount as he got on his mount.

While the soldiers were getting into formation, all the important leaders got to the top of the walls to get a better view, leaving the captains and officers to maintain order among the troops. Outside the flat open fields, soldiers were slowly falling into place, cavalry stood on the sidelines ready, while mages and archers waited in the back. In the distance large metal boxes could be seen kicking up dust, their were hundreds of them in a straight line. After a while they broke formation and started spreading out evenly. Once they did that, Olmar and the rest could see how many their really was.

"Viscount, I'm having a bad feeling about these siege weapons We should try to get the men inside the walls." General Palmar proposed.

"It's already too late, to retreat to the walls would leave our backs wide open. I still have confidence that we could take down these siege weapons, we still heavily outnumber them and no enemy soldiers can be seen." Viscount Olmar replied.

The metal boxes suddenly turned around at the same time, for a second Olmar thought they might have been afraid of their numbers and were about to leave. If only it were that simple, they all backed up and a metal ramp fell off their backs. Coming out were these humanoid looking golems holding spears, first 500 then 1,000 and another 10,000. He didn't notice he wasn't blinking until his eyes started to burn. Their well choreographed marching and synchronicity was near perfect, and left you with a sense of awe.

"Their has to be more than 150,000. Look at the black armored ones, I've never seen curved swords this long and thin before. Wait I see movement." General Palmar remarked.

A hanzo mech stepped out of line and used its bow to launch an arrow into the enemy. The arrow shot true and looked like it was going to hit the Viscount.

""My lord please move!""

They all asked Olmar to move from getting hit, but Olmar being a high gold rank knew the arrow wasn't meant to kill. It landed and stuck to the stone floor, on the end of the shaft was a tied piece of paper, it read.

'This is a note asking for your surrender, if you choose to surrender, wave the note in the air and ask your men to drop their weapons. If not then crumple up the note, we don't care which one you choose. Your defeat is inevitable.'

Olmar felt his body boiling with rage and emotion. To belittle him and not care for the consequences, they are only seeking death.

"PREPARE FOR BATTLE!!" He ordered.

Once he announced the order, the enemy side didn't react and only closed their lines even more. Leaving big gaps wide enough for their metal boxes to move through, and through those gaps more metal boxes backed up like they did before. Only this time, it wasn't soldiers coming out. A green blurr jumped out the back and landed on the grass field, this monstrosity didn't resemble any monster they've seen before. Standing 1.5 meters tall, it hunched over with bulging muscles all over its body. Not only that but it had some sort of metal exo skeleton melted into its skin, it formed sharp claws on its hands and feet. Looking at its face only revealed a metal jaw sharp enough to bite through steel. Once it saw the human army 400 meters away it growled and shrieked like a demon from the depths of hell. If that wasn't shocking enough, thousands of shrieks originated from the back of each metal box. To the humans terror, green abominations poured out of the vehicles and formed a horde charging straight to them.

"Settle down and form a shield wall! Archers wait for my signal when their on target!" Viscount Olmar commanded from the walls, it would be a lie to say that he wasn't unfazed by the events. He's never seen such an army do this other than the half beast city states. Even then they used armored wolves and bears to charge into battle. Once he saw the abominations were near shooting range he yelled, "FIRE!!".

A large volley of arrows were arching towards the oncoming abominations, before they hit their target, the creatures let out another terrifying shriek. Their bodies started to turn dark with bright red veins showing up all over their skin. Afterwards, Arrows fell upon the horde, with only a few sticking to the outer layer of the skin and some just bouncing off leaving a mark. Seeing this only brought more fear to the human soldiers since they were about to collide.

"SPEARS UP! BRACE FOR IMPACT!"

For seconds their was only a mind numbing ringing, before chaos unleashed. Wooden spears were splintered, since they couldn't penetrate the skin. Some bio goblins broke through the some weak spots into the weak shield wall, and tearing the shield carrier with their claws. Others used their enhanced strength jumping into the formed army behind, the soldiers reacted quick to some. Bio goblins got skewered, while some broke the formations turning humans into shredded meat. With more and more bypassing the shield wall, the human army had to act quick before it all would fall apart.

"Heavy cavalry, destroy their flanks and back!"

The heavy gallops of horses could be heard going behind the bio goblin horde. Knights wearing heavy armor and equipped with metal lances went around the human army, going around the bio goblins. After being enhanced in the lab, the bio goblins were a high bronze rank and with their berserk mode they would only barely reach silver rank. On the other hand the heavy knight cavalry were hardened veterans with almost all of them being silver rank and the lowest a high bronze rank. Lances skewered bio goblins like butter, and a few cavalrymen got jumped on while being devoured alive. After 2 to 3 sweeps, the 50,000 bio goblin horde turned to 20,000. The high morale was up in the air, Olmar was grinning until his eyes landed on the unmoving metal army in the back.

"What in great Lord Gilmars name is that!?" Olmar looked with shock at the four legged metal monstrosity, loud thumps could be heard as they walked into position.

Once the Arachno tanks lined up and chose an area of attack. It sounded like a loud thunderclap seconds later a whole group of soldiers were turned to red mist, leaving behind a cloud of dirt and smoke. All over the battlefield, large explosions of dirt and body parts were sent flying. Chaos ensued, with many human soldiers leaving formation and trying to get to the wall.

"STAY IN FORMATION! WHOEVER DESERTS THEIR POSITION WILL BE EXECUTED!"

No matter how much Olmar ordered for the army to no retreat, it didn't work. At the same time he heard a buzzing sound coming from his right side in the sky. He stared at these strange flying objects with a confused expression on where they came from, he soon snapped out of it.

"TO THE RIGHT! ARCHERS AND MAGES USE WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO HIT THOSE THINGS OUT OF THE SKY!"

In vain he tried to give an order, but with so many soldiers pushing and yelling to pass through the gate it was impossible. Once the strange flying objects were in range, they released dozens of missiles onto the army as they sweeped by. Huge clouds of fire covered the majority of the army, the ones on the wall could feel the heat wave from the explosions. Afterwards, the large mech army finally made its move and started charging to the remaining. The smoke cloud finally cleared up after a while, and Olmar was shocked to see the enemy army already crossing more than half the distance between them.

"OPEN THE GATES AND RETREAT TO THE INNER WALL!!"

At this point they could just cut their losses and move into the inner city wall and hold ground there.

"My Lord, will we manage to hold them off till more reinforcements from the capital arrive?" Asked Baron Wason.

"Just do as I say!" Is all Olmar said.

Soldiers poured into the town and ran for their lives to the inner walls. They didn't care what happened to the people in the commoners district.

"RETREAT TO THE INNER WALL QUICKLY!!!"

The soldiers who were the first to get in were lucky, while the ones in the back were the cavalry knights. Instead of using the horses to get inside the town, the knight cavalry sacrificed themselves to buy time for everyone to retreat. Altough they managed to stop the charge for a couple of minutes, they soon were overrun and one by one the cavalry fell. Even a mantis can be taken down by a colony of ants. Springing into action the JLTV's and strykers made their first debut, they started spraying the back of the army with a hail of bullets. Once the last remaining soldiers entered, they tried to close the large wooden gate, but was destroyed by a stryker ramming straight through it.

Olmar saw the strange metal box and decided to finally step in the fight.

EARTH HAMMER

Forming a large hammer out of stone, he hit the front end of the stryker. To his shock, it only managed to push and lift the damn thing a few meters off the ground and leave a large dent.

If it were a Mark 2 cargo truck, it would have been a different scenario. With the reinforced Mark 3 Stryker, it could take hits from gold rank and below. The Stryker gunner focused its machine gun fire at him. He quickly reacted and put up multiple stone walls to seal his and the armies retreat. A couple of titan mechs stepped up and smashed through the walls. The commoners just closed their windows and doors, peeking in fear at the strange army and hoping they would be left alone.

Back at the inner walls, the human army readied themselves for a siege. While Olmar got some of his most trusted servants and gave them teleporting crystals, also some to his family. He wasn't an idiot, with the bird messages not working, he felt like the enemy was messing with their communications. So instead he would send his family to safety to the capital, and send a message to the king with his servants. They had to know that he had severely underestimated the enemy, they needed to know not to follow in his mistakes and find counter actions. He bid his family goodbye and his servants with orders. As nobles of the kingdom they had a duty to withhold, he knew it was only a matter of time before he too would fall.

"Viscount Olmar, do you think the king would send some reinforcements during this time?" Asked Wason.

"It's our last chance, let's try to hold on as much as we can." Olmar replied with a grave voice.

Heading back to the inner walls, they joined the fight. With Olmar and the general being gold ranks, they made quick work of the androids and hanzos. While taking down the enemy, Olmar noticed that they didn't bleed.

"This just confirms it, these things aren't human and just metal. Could the Prince brat actually have sided with the Dwarven kingdom? Impossible, that would send the whole continent into a great war." Olmar thought.

Once again the strange flying objects were coming in for another attack.

"I've been waiting for you, take this!" Olmar yelled.

STONE LANCE

He sent a large stone Lance towards the group in the sky. The things evaded except one in the middle, the sharp rock lance went through the large front windshields, causing it to turn into a fireball and becoming light particles in the sky.

From where it once flew, two figures fell and landed on the stone paved roadway inside the inner walls. They looked like royal knights and carried large glowing swords the size of a man.

Olmar knew these werent going to be as simple as the other ones, the aura they produced was enough to make his nerves tense up. This was going to be a battle to the death.
