The storm knocked out power to the town, leaving the streets dark and silent. People fumbled with candles and flashlights, but for ghosts, the outage was more than a nuisance—it was a roadblock.
Holly, a young ghost in a tattered dress, floated near a fallen power line, frowning. She needed to get to the abandoned house on the hill—a place with creaky floors and dusty corners perfect for haunting. Normally, she’d just hop into the electrical lines and zip across town, but tonight she was stuck.
"Typical," Holly muttered. "Always when I’m in a rush."
Just then, a flicker of blue light appeared. A crew of ghostly wisps materialized, their bodies crackling with static. These were the Phantom Linewisps, spirits who kept the spectral highways running.

"Trouble with your travels, miss?" asked their leader.
"Yeah," Holly said, folding her arms. "How am I supposed to get to my haunt when the lines are down?"
"No worries, we got this," he replied with a grin. "Time to set up some phantom lines."
The crew got to work, their hands weaving strands of glowing energy that looked like spiderwebs of lightning. They strung up the phantom lines, connecting the broken ends with ease. Holly watched as they transformed the dark street into a glowing network, crackling with life—or afterlife.
"There ya go," said the lead Phantom Linewisp. "Good as new. Just step right in, and you’ll be haunting in no time."
Holly hesitated, then felt the familiar pull as she was sucked into the current. She zipped through the glowing path, passing other ghosts who waved as they flew by.
She popped out in the old house’s attic, right where she wanted to be. The air was still and full of that eerie quiet she loved. Holly floated to the dusty mirror and grinned.
"Good thing those electric wisps know how to keep the juice flowing," Holly said, smirking as she watched the furniture creak on its own.
And with that, she set to work, ready to give the new residents a fright they’d never forget.
