When did my world start to crumble? And now the so-called Gods are toying with our lives? How dare they?! I can accept it if it's only about me but they dare to touch my brother?! I will never forgive them!

Forget revenge, how am I supposed to escape? I stare at the ceiling of the dark cave. How did I even end up here?

My Brother has a concert tour and he decided to ride a business class plane. His company provided a private plane for him but he refused.

"Why did you refuse such a good plane? That one has been much more comfortable than this. Even though I'm your brother I can't sometimes understand what's running through your head." I sat down beside him, which was an empty seat.

This brother of mine always saves the seat next to him, empty. He's willing to pay for it, but no one is allowed to sit next to him, or he'll explode.

I sulk but when I look around, it only makes me more uncomfortable. Around us, there are shadows quietly sitting among the empty seats, and some of them carry a dark and uncomfortable chill just by looking at them.

"I have a bad feeling about this…" I mumble I look at my brother, but he's just scrolling on his phone before he sticks headphones on his ears.

If I were alive, I will probably be sweating cold sweats by now. But I grew used to it as time passed by. In the middle of riding a plane, we experienced a couple of turbulence but it was that great to feel alarmed… until that time came when the pilot himself told us the bad news. A woman from the opposite side of the plane suddenly pulled up the windows, it was then revealed the ominous feeling I was having. On the plane's wing, the reel is on fire.

A series of screaming and panic filled the plane. Oxygen masks fall from the plane ceiling and the passengers put them on. When I turn to my left, my brother is still sleeping with the headphones. He needs to wake up!

"This plane is gonna crash. Everyone will die here." A woman, a flight attendant to be exact, is walking in dazed, eyes bloodshot and the aura around her carries darkness. She's a spirit. I tried to pull my brother, shake him if I must just wake him up. But he did not budge.

Right. The only difference between me and the spirit that passed by just now is that I can touch my brother but he can't feel me. The plane is crashing but I can't do anything to save my brother.

"Wake up, please! You need to put on an oxygen mask! You need to grab the parachute… No! Please don't die!"

With the impact on the ground, the explosion engulfed everything. But I can't close my eyes, as I watch a blinding golden light slowly growing stronger per second. It gave me the light to see what my surroundings came to be after the explosion.

The bright light stops expanding. A group of souls enter the open space one by one, they are the souls of the dead passengers. I walk on to the bright light following a familiar scent of almonds. It's the only way for me to find my brother, it's the scent of his soul, although the scent of Flower is stronger, the almond scent is quite faint but it's still there… my brother.

A blue orb with an almond scent is stuck behind the golden light.

"What is happening?" I asked.

'Child of Life, you need to go back now. Your unfinished mission awaits you.'

Another space opens and a bright golden light enters that space. My brother who was stuck behind that light is there.

"Shit! What?!" I tried to enter that space too but I bounced off.

"Hey! Wait! You got my brother mixed with that soul! Hey! You! Whoever you are who was talking earlier! Hear me out! GIVE ME BACK MY BROTHER, YOU SON OF A BITCHES! EVEN IF YOU'RE A GOD, I WON'T FORGIVE YOU! JUST GIVE HIM BACK!"

'Hey Father, do you know that Child?' (Soft voice 1)

'Right, I've been wanting to shut his trap, he's cursing us.' (Rowdy voice 2)

'Child? That child is… not on the list.' (Deep yet Soothing voice 3)

'Then do you know the brother he's been talking about?' (voice 2)

'...Child. What is your name?' (voice 3)

"A-Are you talking to me? My name is Zorren Carter, my brother's soul got stuck behind the big golden soul that entered that space just now. Please give him back! I'll do anything you want just please bring him back!"

I beg and cry in front of them though they're in the form of twinkling stars in the sky. I show my sincerity to them.

'and what is your brother's name?' (Voice 1)

'W-Warren Carter… he's my twin brother."

'Why is it, Father?' (Voice 1)

An animated hand suddenly grabbed me. It holds me like a ball.

'Hey Child, I still can't forgive you for cursing us including our father earlier. Take this as a divine punishment.' (Voice 2)

That voice carries revenge, as the hand throws inside the whirlpool-like space.

'Urgh… that must be the God of Death's voice. Even now I'm still feeling dizzy remembering it.'

That's how I end up here. A dark and cold cave. For 6 months I can feel that I wasn't alone there. I don't even have an escape route because it's too dark to see. What worries me more is my brother, what happened to him after he woke up in a different world? Watching him grow up as a child alone after that incident, no one is beside him and he's got a lot of trust issues… it's so worrisome.

As his elder brother, I need to get out of here and reunite with him just like God promised.

I stand up and prepare. I finally have a physical body, I can grab things just like when I was alive. Imagining myself meeting with my brother excites me, I want to tell him I've been with him since that day.

"He said this is a trial. He won't give a trial that isn't conquerable. I can do this. *Hoo…*"

I again wander around this cave. I've been doing this for 6 months but I'll give it a try again. This body can get hungry so I've been eating moss and drinking cave water. I don't think this is enough for survival but this new body isn't complaining about the limited food.

*Grumbles*

Huh? I mean I heard it, that wasn't mine. Like I said my body doesn't complain, including my stomach, so whose stomach did that?

I stop and heighten my senses, feeling the air and the vibration of the ground. I'm following the rhythm like I used to do when I was a child, the rocky ground has a mild but definite vibration that something about 30 meters away from me is approaching, and its steps are quite heavy… meaning he is a big one.

I decided to avoid it, so I proceeded to walk away until I saw a tiny and purplish luminous area several steps away from me. When I reach it, it is a hole in the cave wall. There is a wide space here with its sides full of brilliant crystals…

"Wow."

I slipped through the hole to enter that space. I looked at the purple crystals and thought, these are giant amethysts, they're so beautiful. But when I touched it, it shined.

"Whoa…"

I kick the chunk of crystal just in case it's an illusion. But I hurt my toe in the process, it's quite sturdy, is this perhaps purple diamonds?

I pick up a tiny crystal and observe it. It shined just like before but when it took a long time in my hand, it felt like there was an energy that wants to enter my hand. I feel like I am getting a weak electric shock. It wasn't that bad of a feeling though, it was like I got a massage.

"... It's surprisingly relaxing. Again."

I place my hand on top of the giant crystal, and the feeling of being shocked by electricity, and energy enters my body. This must be the feeling of having a full body massage. I stopped when the glowing crystal lost its shine, even if I touched it again, it didn't give me the energy just like before.

"What? Is this out of battery?" So out of frustration, I kick the dull-colored crystal.

*Crash!*

"Holy cow! That startled me…" I stare at the broken crystal on the ground as if it's a piece of fragile glass. "Eh? Was it this weak before? Nope… I hurt my toe because it's obviously tough, but what happened?"

'Did I suddenly become strong? Hahaha'

I tried punching the cave wall, and it shocked me to see that it left a small dent on the wall.

"What the heck?"

*Growling!*

"Huh…?"

That is a sound from a huge creature for sure, I thought I would become deaf because of that loud growling. I peek out my head at the hole in the wall, only to see a huge monster as huge as a dinosaur. I can feel my blood leaving my face as I hurriedly hide my head from the hole.

'Is that a dinosaur? Shit, that one is huge! I have no idea there's a huge thing like that out there in the same place I am in. Am I supposed to defeat that monster?! Hell no!'

I can feel my heart racing inside my rib cage. If I try to battle that monster, for sure I will meet with my second death.

At the party.

Many guests attended, some were acquainted with the Marquess, some were Vega's peers, noble ladies (for formality), and the ones I asked her to invite.

Denzelle and Nathalie came as expected, Ricca is stuck with Nathalie as per the contract, while Denzelle immediately passes us to meet her group of friends.

She didn't even bother to greet me, what a brat. I ignore her and greet the next guest. I am the one to greet them because the celebrant will have her grand entrance later. Efren entered and said something about Theo and his sister, entering…

"Alright, tell Selek and Drio to accompany them to the table, they'll feel out of place if we leave them be."

"Understood." Efren left.

Then I saw the two enter. Theo was wearing a neat brown suit, while his sister wore a cute and modest dress… They both look nervous while glancing around.

"Welcome to my younger sister's party, dear guests," I said with a wide smile, Theo looks up at me then slowly his eyes widens

"C-Captain?" He's shocked and scanned me from head to toe, "I-I'm sorry, My Lady, I think I mistook you for someone." He bowed and gave me the invitation

"It's alright, mister Theo, I don't mind at all. Randall already told me about you. Unfortunately, he has some emergencies to tend to but don't worry, he made sure to keep his promise so I hope you enjoy the party." I flashed my business smile but he turned away

"Bro, stop blushing, it's embarrassing…" the girl hissed at Theo before smiling at me.

'They're cute'

*chuckles*

I excused myself when I saw someone familiar entering. I have a hunch as to who this lady is…

"Welcome to my younger sister's party, Lady Eckardes. I hope you enjoy the party." I smile warmly.

She has aquamarine eyes that give off a deep gaze. Just like how she was described in the book.

"Greetings, Lady Cavelier, how do you do?" Lavinia greeted me elegantly.

'Umm… was she this elegant in the book?'

"Err… I'm doing great. How about you?" I asked. This is awkward.

I don't know how to approach her, or how to start a conversation with her.

Lavinia smirks… or did I see it right? But I brush it away and show her her seat instead. I feel weird about her or maybe I'm just thinking too much?

"I'm alright, thank you for inviting me." She said with a smile, even when she was smiling… It feels sus.

"Then I'll excuse myself for a-"

"I keep on wondering why you invite me… but no matter how hard I think about it, there's no reason for me to be here. Or perhaps…" she turned to me with her sharp gaze.
