A normal dude in a not so normal world, that's what I am.....well, was. You see, I kinda died but before the author starts writing all that mumbojumbo about the afterlife and a ROB, who by the way hasn't appeared yet, let me tell you a bit of my backstory and my world.
My name is Alex and I am an orphan and I have no idea who my parents are because apparently, I was a dud. You see, I live in a world where actual mythological gods exist and they bless anyone they find worthy or who has strong faith in them. I on the other hand got the short end of the stick, cuz as it turns out, none of the gods wanted me (which was so rare, you could say I'm one of a kind).
So my parents, who saw how useless they thought I am, decided they didn't want me. A fact which the kids and even adults in the orphanage would never let me forget.
Somehow I survived through all the bullying and name calling....Well until shit happened and I kinda died. I was on my way back from school when I decided to pass by the grocery store to pickup groceries of course.
Unknowingly, I walked into a villain rampage (yes, we have that too but I'll leave it for the author to explain). He was a Gaia blessed and decided to collapse buildings for fun, including the building I was in. When I woke up next, I was floating in this weird void, unfeeling and unmoving (I think)...
So that's a bit of my backstory and how I died. I suddenly felt a pull towards a certain direction and I just let my body (soul?) be dragged along, since I couldn't fight it even if I wanted to.
After an unknown amount of time I felt myself stop, still in the void and darkness surrounding me. That's when I felt it, a freezing feeling that made my skin crawl even though I could've sworn I didn't have any.
From the darkness of the void rose the figure responsible for the feeling and I could've sworn I died a million times over, which almost made me lose my mind but by some miracle, I didn't.
"Interesting, I thought I would have to protect your mind from shattering but I guess not" The being spoke in a voice that sounded loud yet quiet and downright creepy.
"I would've appreciated a proper meeting place and conversation but I lack time for both and you can't speak, not in this form at least" He spoke again. Now that he mentions it, I've been trying to get a word or two out but nothing works.
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
If this creepy ROB is the start of my reincarnation story, then I want a refund author. He's nothing like novels and anime stated he could be..
"Hahaha, what a weird mind you have young one. But time is running out for both of us so I will give you a rundown of your situation" He laughed and spoke again.
"I am the primordial god of death Thanatos, and due to certain reasons which you will know when the time is right, I am dead" He paused, either letting his words sink in or processing the fact that he's dead.
But his words crashed Alex.exe. A god, dead? but that's impossible, gods were supposed to be immortal beings right? And worst of all, the god of death died? What in the actual f*ck?
"I know you have a lot of questions and all shall be answered in due time, but in order to stabilize the mortal realm and not grant everyone immortality, I chose you to bestow my powers upon" He dropped another bomb, not even letting me survive the first, but how can he grant me his powers when I'm as dead as he is.
"Worry not about those details, I shall resurrect you and bestow them upon you" He paused and then continued.
"I cannot grant you my full power but I shall find a suitable way to give it to you in bits, so your body doesn't keep exploding over and over" He concluded and started commanding some dark wisps of smoke to enter what I'll assume is my soul and I started feeling pain like never before.
Even all the bullying I've experienced stacked together and multiplied by 100 would feel like a love pat compared to this pain.
"I cannot tell you how to use the powers I'll bestow on you but I hope you use them well, Alex" Was the last thing I heard before passing out, which I didn't know was possible.
"Arghhh!!!" I woke up with a scream, covered in sweat. When I calmed myself a little and looked around, that's when I noticed that I was in what looked like a hospital room, you know white walls and hospital scent that no one likes..
While I was still thinking about what happened, the door suddenly opened and in walked the doctor.
"How are you feeling Mr. Alex?" the doctor while checking my eyes asked in a polite tone.
"Like a building fell on me. How am I in a hospital? and who's paying the bills cuz I don't remember having insurance" I replied.
"You were rushed here by the rescue team, who dug you from under the building, which you survived by some miracle, also the bill is paid by the government" The doctor answered, moving back a little.
"I see, that's a relief. So I'm free to go now right?" I said, ready to get off this bed and out of this hospital.
"Since you seem to be doing fine, 'you're free to go'" He answered with a smile.
I hopped off the bed and quickly walked out of the hospital.
Getting outside the hospital I couldn't help but notice my appearance in the hospital's reflective glass.
My previous 6 feet height had increased a bit, Now I stood at an impressive 6'3 {I wouldn't call that impressive}. Ignore him, that's just the author. The other change I immediately noticed were my silver eyes, they were previously black.
Apart from those changes,the rest of my features were mostly the same except more pronounced and attractive (?)
{Narcissist much?}
My honey colored skin and my messy black hair (I swear I could never get this thing in its place) remained the same. Taking another appreciative look at my reflection again and decided to leave.
Now was a time for me to go back to my apartment, get my thoughts together and find out what Thanatos gave me.
I checked my pockets and "f*ck, I don't have my wallet with me. Hey author, do you think you could make me ride the transition scene and get home? pretty please..."
{No!}
"F*ck you".
