Chapter 41-Preparations

Chapter 41-Preparations

Now with the goal clear, Aella took a good look around the room. The first thing she started to look for was some kind of exit that could lead out of this room.

It didn't take long before she found it. At the other end of the room from where the cage was, Aella found a wooden door that led out of here. The door didn't look like it had a lock, but Aella wasn't sure, she needed to get a closer look to be 100% sure. But the door didn't interest Aella much right now, she was more interested in the wooden chests and boxes.

Aella knew her weakness, she wasn't capable of direct combat, her only tools were her two curses, which mostly helped if she had some teammates or against a group of enemies, but even then there was a possibility that the enemy was strong enough that her curses did close to nothing, so she needed something that could help her, and Aella was hoping she could find that something in theses boxes.

So stepping away from the cage she went to rummage through some stuff. Without wasting any time she went to the closest chest and opened it. The lid was heavier than she anticipated but that didn't hinder her and soon the chest was open. When the lid fully opened it made some noise and Aella froze in place for a moment as she turned her gaze in door's direction.

After a moment she saw that no one was coming she continued. Aella tried to be moderately quiet, after all, she didn't want to attract some unwanted attention before she was ready.

Looking inside the chest Aella found clothes, it was a full chest with colorful clothes. Aella took one piece of clothing lifted it outside the chest and unfolded it. When unfolded it was revealed that Aella was holding a bright red dress, and by the looks of it this dress was intended for nobles, as far as Aella could tell, and the chest was full of these.

Not finding these clothes useful Aella threw the dress back inside the chest and moved on. The next chest Aella opened more carefully trying to make little to no noise, and fortunately, she was successful in that. Taking a look at the chest content Aella wasn't too happy, because this chest was similar to the last one with the exception of one thing, and it was that this chest had a hand mirror put on top of all the clothes.

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

The mirror didn't look special, it looked like just a plain silver hand mirror, there weren't even any kind of decorations or engravings on the silver handle. But Aella still took it, it was better than nothing.

''Finally something better!'' Aella had finally found something that could help her, a shovel

It had taken some time before Aella found this shovel. She had opened multiple chests but most of them had been full of clothes and some contained jewelry, the only two that were at least somewhat useful were the one chest that had healing potions in it, she gave some potions to the victims in the cage, and the other chest that she was happy with, was a chest made out of dark grey wood, and in it she found a set of clothes.

The chest contained a black lace frill dress, with a laced umbrella, black high heels, and a choker. Aella knew that this dress will hinder her if she at any point will have to fight close combat, but she still decided to put it on because she liked it, and she reasoned that if she at any point has to fight close combat she will lose anyway. Plus she liked the choker, not only because of how it looked, it was a black lace choker with tear drop like dark gem in the middle of it, but the gem contained a cleaning spell. Meaning that Aella had to put some mana in the gem and it would clean her and her clothes.

But except for those two chests, Aella didn't find anything too useful, until now. When Aella opened a simple wooden chest she found some metal tools in it, and one of them was the shovel she was now holding in her hands.

You see, it wasn't that Aella wanted to go rummage through all those chests, but she had no choice. Because the boxes and crates that were labeled were nailed shut, so she couldn't access them, and the chests that looked interesting were locked either with a physical lock or some kind of magic. So finding a shovel was nice because now she could try and pry some things open.

Looking at the labeled boxes Aella couldn't help but smile, because now she can get her hands on the fun stuff.
