Chapter 74-Some caching up

''Please take my shift, thank you.'' Those were the first words Aella heard right after she got summoned. She didn't even have time to fully comprehend her situation fully before a familiar elf asked her to cover some kind of shift, while the blond elf herself went to sleep in a nearby tent.

Looking around the campsite with four tents, and a campfire in the middle of these tents, Aella quickly got an idea of what she was just asked to do, so without making a fuss she sat down near the campfire. This was the most bizarre first interaction, but Aella will have time to ask questions after everyone has woken up.

As Aella kept the fire going and looked at the starry sky from time to time, the night passed peacefully, and at some point, Aella got lost in her thoughts. Her dark eyes looked at the dancing flame as she herself was in a trance.*Rusle* But her trance was soon broken when she heard some movement, but because the sound was coming from one of the tents she didn't panic and just slowly turned her gaze to the sound.

The tent's flaps slowly opened and from them came out a brown-haired wolfkin. He stretched his limbs ready to start the day but the moment when he saw Aella sitting near the fire he froze, with a mixture of confusion and curiosity, he opened his mouth to say something but no sound came out of it.

''Good morning Kayne.'' With no intention to prolong this silence, Aella greeted the familiar beastkin.

''Good morning?'' Kayne was still confused, so it took some time for him to process what was happening in front of him. ''Did June summon you to cover her shift?''

''I think so, those were her first and only words she said right before she went back in her tent.'' Aella had almost as much information as Kayne right now, so she herself wasn't sure if June had summoned her just for this.

''Anyway, want something to eat?'' Kayne wasn't ready for June's shenanigans right now, so he decided to let the elf sleep and get information from her later.

"Sure." Hearing Aella's positive answer, Kayne went back into his tent. After disappearing for a few moments, he reappeared with a small linen bag and a metal cylinder bottle in his hands.

''Here, something to snack on until I'm done with breakfast.'' He gave both of those items to Aella and went back into his tent. Intrigued by them Aella opened the bag first and saw some cookies. She used two of her fingers to fish out one of these baked goods and took a closer look before she popped it in her mouth.

It tasted amazing, she hadn't expected that from the plane look it had, but the cookie actually had a nice flavor to it. She ate three more before she stopped and decided to take a look at what's inside the cylinder. It was a container with a screwable lid, so she turned the lid and opened it.

The moment she took the lid off, she was treated by a nice scent of fruits. Inside the container was some kind of fruit tea, and it was warm. Wanting to taste the drink, Aella poured some tea into the lid and took a sip. It was a little hot so she burned her tongue tip, but it was nothing new so she just put the tea aside for the moment and decided to eat some more cookies.

While Aella was crunching the cookies between her teeth Kayne came back to the fireplace and started to prepping. He got out the pan and made sure it was secured above the flames, then he put the ingredients next to him so that they were easily reachable.

Aella didn't really pay much attention to Kayne's cooking, she just saw him put the butter in the pan before she zoned out while being captivated by the dancing flame. In her vision she could see Kayne moving his hand, putting things in the pan, but it was like a background to her.

In systematic movement she continued to eat cookies and drink tea until she heard movement from another tent. Looking over Aella saw the giant man step out of his tent as the blazing red hair fell over his shoulders. Hubert similar to Kayne was surprised to see Aella, but he didn't say anything he just nodded in her direction.

''Good morning.'' Kayne looked away from his cooking to greet Hubert and the blue-eyed tank greeted him with a nod and then walked away somewhere. After Aella lost sight of him she returned to her previous activity of staring into the flame. Not long after Sam and Alex also came out of their tent and after exchanging morning greeting with everyone sat down near the fire.

''So how have you been Aella, got any interesting stories?'' While Kayne was busy cooking food, Sam sat down and started talking to Aelle while Alex sat behind his lover and started to play with her dark hair.

''Nothing much, mostly killing.'' That wasn't wrong because that's basically what happened at every summoning until now.

''Well yes, but you have to have something more interesting, did you encounter someone interesting, or maybe where did you get those?'' While saying the last words Sam pointed at the ring and the necklace Aella was wearing.

''Well, this one I got when I fulfilled a request.'' Aella lifted the neckless with her fingers showing off the markings on it to Sam.

''And this one I got from another Safury.'' She positioned her hand so that Sam could better see the green ring. The dark-haired catkin gently pushed Aella's palm closer to her self and took a better look at the ring and the golden hair it contained.

''They gave you a nice ring.'' Aella saw the mischievous smile form on Sam's lips, implying something.

''Yes it's a nice ring, plus if there's ever a need using this ring you can summon her here for help.'' Aella retracted her hand as she said that, on the other hand when Sam heard this her grin just widened.

''But enough about me, how have you been?'' Talking about her own stories and adventures wasn't as interesting to her as listening to other people's adventures, so she started steering the conversation in that way.

''Well nothing much, we kill some monsters then rest, then kill again then rest again. There are some missions that are different but mostly they include killing.''

''It looks like we are similar in that regard.''

''I guess so.'' Sam had to agree to that, both of them had done a lot of killing as of late.

''So what are you doing now.'' The party was in the middle of some kind of forest area, so they had to either be on their way to the mission or their coming back from completing one.

''There was a report of a lesser demon wandering near one of the villages, so we took the mission of finding out if it's true, and if possible take care of it.'' The moment Sam uttered the word demon, Aella got uncomfortable and she felt some rage building in her, but as quickly as it appeared it disappeared.

''I see, it looks like this will be some fun adventure.'' Aella kept her smile while still thinking about the demon, she will have to try and see if June would be alright if she sticked around longer so that she could see that demon, that is if it's real and not some villagers overreacting.
