Chapter 10-Encounter with the wild life

''Incoming!''

''Got it!'' Hubert responded by raising his shield, blocking a giant green fist.

''UGH!'' The punch was so heavy that Hubert felt it through his shield and the heavy armor he was wearing. It will probably leave a bruise.

''Mana blade.'' Behind Hubert, Kayne announced the skill he would be using so that his party knew what he was doing. The moment he used his skill a light blue blade formed around his open right palm.

While the monster's hand was still extended, Kayne went around Hubert, who he used as a cover, and slashed at the monster's wrist. Unfortunately, the cut wasn't as deep as Kayne had hoped, but it was better than nothing. ''RA!'' Feeling Kayne slash his wrist the monster turned his head and looked at the damage and the one who did it.

Seeing his wrist bleeding a nice consistent stream the monster got annoyed and was ready to strike the beastkin down. ''RAAAAWWRR!'' But before he got the chance, Alex used [Pearcing shot] and hit the monster's eye, blinding the monster in one eye and dealing some pain to it. Using his uninjured hand the monster grabbed for the arrow to pull it out. When he pulled out the arrow the whole eye came out, so now he was bleeding from one of his eye sockets too.

The monster wanted to step a little bit back to get some distance from the party and get ready to strike again, but he didn't get the chance. His feet and ankles suddenly got punctured by wooden spikes, while at the same time, his right calf got a piece ripped off from it by Grefured.

The monster was losing balance but he didn't fall. Using his right leg to stabilize himself, in the process of breaking the wooden spikes and mutilating his feet further, the monster made a roar. ''RRRAWR!'' When the sound left his mouth his muscles visibly bulged, and all the inflicted wounds healed right before the party's eyes, as if nothing had happened. His wrist wound closed, his eye regrew, and his mutilated feet and calf healed.

But Sam didn't let that stop her. She threw one of her smoke bombs at the monster's face. It exploded on impact filling the monster's face with smoke, and while the monster was distracted, trying to get the smoke to disperse, the catkin went around the big monster, and using her skill, she jumped.

Reaching the monster's neck she lodged one of her daggers in there. And the moment she landed she sprung away because the next moment a fist came to be in the place she landed from the jump.

''The poison should take effect soon.'' Hearing this the party got ready to go all out. Trolls were troublesome creatures, they were big they were strong, and above all, they could regenerate really fast. The only way to reliably kill them was you either kill them really fast with strong attacks or use something that could slow their regeneration. Otherwise, they will keep regenerating until the party is exhausted, -that is if the party can stay alive that long,- and then kill it when they can't fight back.

The first to move was Hubert. While the troll was getting Sam's dagger out of his neck Hubert charged at the monster. Seeing the incoming Hubert the troll responded by punching the human. But Hubert expected this, using his shield he paired the punch. It still dealt some damage to Hubert's arm, but at the same time it threw the troll off balance a little. And using that window Hubert slashed his sword at the troll, wounding it in the chest.

While at the same time, Alex shot an arrow, again aiming at the troll's eye, but this time it wasn't so successful. The troll did learn from his last mistake and shielded his face with his other arm, leading the arrow to puncture his arm, not his eye. But this gave a chance to Kayne and Sam, who used the opportunity of troll blocking his own vision.

Kayne channeled some mana in his legs, making him faster. When he got close enough he lowered his figure and used one of his skills to strengthen his fist. He punched straight at the troll's knee. When the punch landed there was a definite sound of bone breaking, and you could see some bone sticking out. But it didn't take long before it started healing.

Sam arrived at the exact moment when Kayne's punch landed throwing the troll off balance even more. And while the troll was fighting to regain its balance, Sam used [Multy strike], combined with her dagger she left multiple nasty cuts on the troll's side.

Not using momentum June used her magic to sprout out a wooden pillar from the ground, right beneath one of the troll's feet. Normally the troll would be fine and would regain his balance, but this time it was different. Although his wounds still closed fast it wasn't as instantaneous as before, and the creature wasn't used to it, so with all those injuries and some confusion about why he wasn't regenerating as fast as usual the troll lost his footing.

The troll landed on his butt. Wooden spikes sprouted from the ground impaling the troll from different angles, Grefured jumped for the troll's jugular biting down hard. The troll grabbed at the wolf and tried to pull it off, but the grey-furred creature didn't let go. Alex started to pelt the troll with arrows, aiming them everywhere not just its eyes trying to puncture as many weak spots as possible.

Kayne and Sam joined in the mele, using their agility to slash and strike from multiple sides, while Hubert made one or two of his own attacks, ready to defend his party if the troll decided to stop trying to peal Grefured off of himself and instead attack one of his comrades. The poison slowly got stronger and stronger, and the party could see some wounds that were not healing fast, still at a visible pace, but instead of seconds, the wounds would take minutes, and the deeper ones an hour to fully heal by the looks of it.

Slowly but surely the troll fell, the final straw was when it finally got the wolf off of himself, but not the way it wanted. Grefured couldn't take it anymore, all the punching and pulling from the troll took a tool on the wolf's body, so it decided enough is enough. So the summoned beast clasped his jaws as tight as he could, and with a smooth motion, he jumped off the troll and at the same time took the troll's throat with him.

''gghhhhrr...'' The troll wanted to roar in pain but couldn't, he was clasping his hands around his mutilated throat. His eyes were punctured with arrows, and his lower half was full of wooden spikes. His body full of wounds made from Sam and Hubert, bones broken, and internal injuries plenty. The troll was on its last leg, slowly the breath of life left him, his eyes glazed over, and he fell. The troll's lifeless body now was lying on the ground, right before the party that defeated the monster.
