The faint scent of burning wood encompassed the space around Kyra and slowly filled her nostrils. Slowly, she opened her eyes and released a strangled groan. The blurriness of her surroundings slowly cleared up, showcasing a dark wooden ceiling. The young woman immediately sat up, the brown cloth dropping from her body. She was no longer in the white gown she left in, and she was now wearing a brown kirtle.
Kyra’s emerald eyes immediately glowed, and she scanned over her body.

The young woman released a sigh of relief and laid back down on the couch. Her eyes followed the open door, and she stared into the distance. The night sky was filled with a million bright stars, and the tall green grass swayed with the wind.
What a peaceful place.
“Oh my! You’re awake, goodie.” The farmer’s wife walked in with a tray of hot bread and creamy broccoli soup. Kyra sat back up and smiled, feeling unnerved. “The name’s Gina.” The woman introduced herself.
“Hi.” Kyra replied awkwardly. Gina placed the tray on Kyra’s lap and patted her thighs.
“Eat up, and we shall talk more.”

Luther paced up and down the field, his mind filled with erratic thoughts. Klaus and the men sat around, watching their new lord with a smirk on their faces.
“Can’t contain your excitement now, can we, Luther?!” Klaus yelled, making sure to add an ear-grating, boastful laugh. Luther was, in fact, not excited. He was second-guessing himself. If Kyra had defeated their father, she was sure to kill him and the rest of them too. He wasn’t fucking excited. He was shaking his pants. However, he was the head now, and he needed to get his act together.
Luther smacked himself and mounted his brown stallion.
“What’s our motto, men?!” He questioned aloud; his tone was fierce, and his voice was stable.
“Pillage and kill your way to victory!!” The men yelled back as they stood up and mounted their horses, waving their weapons around. The group galloped towards the village; their battle cries echoed throughout the night, alerting the mountain villagers. Kyra, who had finished her food, was alerted as well, and a thin layer of cold sweat coated her body. Gina noticed both the change in the girl’s behaviour and the unusual noise echoing through the village.

“Is something the matter?” She then asked, startling the young girl.
“I don’t know. However, you and the rest of the villagers have to get out of her immediately!” Kyra voiced it anxiously. Gina looked at her, perplexed, before her head snapped towards the war crime drawing near. “Go now!” Kyra exclaimed. The young woman jumped to her feet and grabbed the sword that was mounted on the wall.
“You can’t move! You need to rest!” Gina yelled, worry dripping from every word. However, it fell on deaf ears. Kyra made her way out, and she could see her brothers and his men riding towards the village in the distance. The farmer’s wife saw and understood the urgency of the situation. She hurried off to warn the rest of the villagers, heading towards the poker house first so she could warn her husband.
“Luther!” Kyra yelled out as she swung her sword around. Her brother stopped in his tracks and unsheathed his own blade.
“Kyra!” He exclaimed. “I’m guessing you’ve already warned the villagers! That won’t do anything, though!” He taunted. The young man then tilted his head to the side, and an ogre man rode off towards Gina. Krya, however, expected this and rushed forward. The axe-wielding male and her exchanged blows; the height difference seemed to be to Kyra’s disadvantage.

‘Yes,’ Kyra thought.

Kyra readied her sword again and went to attack the horse. She sliced at the animal’s side, which knocked the man off its back. It then ran away into the night.
“You bitch, you’ll pay for that!” The man shouted. He then sprinted forward, and they continued to exchange blows. Kyra interchanged the sword between her hands like a master, confusing the ogre man before her. She then dove down and punched back up, effectively slicing him in half.

Kyra breathed out as she whipped her sword down, removing the crimson liquid from her blade.
“Who’s next?” She glared up at her brother, who froze. He then moved his hand down, and a pair of twins rode down, their blondes moving around in the wind. They twirled their spears and began their relentless attacks. Kyra dodged the attacks and mounted one of the twins’ horses from behind. She then stabbed the hairy man in the back and pushed him off, watching in glee as he bled out on the ground.
Kyra then moved the horse’s head towards the other twin and rode in his direction. She immediately moved her head to the side as he speared towards her. Kyra then used this as an opportunity to stab him in the throat, killing him instantly.

All that remained were her brother and Klaus.
“Let’s retreat back to the village and gather more men.” Luther instructed the ginger man next to him. Klaus would have argued against this. However, he knew Luther would die before he drew the blade, and he himself wouldn’t be able to put up much of a fight. He now knew why Munich only allowed her to kill low-level monsters here and there and never took her on a real mission. She was naturally good and would rise through the ranks much quicker than she did. Munich was stunting his own daughter.
Kyra watched as the two men rode off.
In the far distance and in the forest, the mountain villagers stood around.
“Is everything fine, Allan?” Gina asked her husband, who had binoculars placed on his eyes.
“They’re retreating.” He answered. This was all the villagers needed to hear. They immediately left their confines and went back into the village to continue their night as usual. Gina and Allan made their way to Kyra, who was breathing hard.

For the second time in Kyra’s sixteen years of life, she had taken more lives. And what sickened her the most was that she didn’t feel a thing about them.
