*Chapter 4: A Reality Check*
Kagami and Astaria, was suddenly fighting a bull-man, While both the bull-man and Kagami was posing, and trying to get some points across. On how things end up like this? we need to go back a little.
Kagami's life in this strange new world had taken an unexpected turn. The initial mild shock of being transported to a fantastical new realm had given way to a sense of bewildered acceptance. He had no special powers, no remarkable abilities, and he wasn't even sure why he had been chosen as the So called Chosen One.
As Kagami and Astaria Walked around through this captivating but perilous town, a creeping realization settled upon him like a heavy cloak. Again He had no powers. None whatsoever. He couldn't summon lightning nor fire, manipulate elements, or perform any of the heroic feats he had read about in fantasy novels or played in games. He was just Kagami, a somewhat ordinary guy, trying to make sense of an extraordinary situation he was suddenly thrown into.
Astaria, the once all-powerful looking goddess, had been rendered powerless and useless, her divine aura extinguished. She floated beside Kagami, her expression a mixture of anxiety, regret and a bit of fear. She knew she had misled him, and now she had to face the consequences one way or another.
With a low voice, Astaria finally spoke, "Kagami, I must apologize. I... I may have exaggerated my abilities, and I didn't expect to lose my powers like this. Nor did I expect our situation to be this bad."
Kagami turned to her, his brow furrowing. "You mean, you can't help us at all? Who would've thought?"
Astaria bit her lip, her radiant eyes downcast. "I'm afraid... You see My powers have been sealed Like two times already, and I'm as vulnerable as any mortal now... I am sorry okay?"
Kagami, despite the uncertainty of his situation, couldn't help but feel a surge of frustration. He reached out and pinched Astaria's forehead not so gently at all. She winced, her eyes watering.
"Why did you lie to me, Astaria?
Couldn't you at least give me one OP power? Just one?? A harem would've been good!" Kagami asked and complained, his voice a mix of exasperation and disappointment.
Astaria's voice trembled as she replied, "I... I didn't want you to lose hope. I thought if you believed in me, in Us, it would make this journey easier, maybe we would get lucky and everything works out... And to be honest even I didn't know we will be this venerable."
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
Kagami sighed and withdrew his hand, feeling a strange mixture of empathy and resignation. "Well, we can't change the past now, can we? Let's just move forward and make the best of this. At least if I die I won't hate myself for not even trying."
Astaria nodded, her eyes still glistening with unshed tears. She had let Kagami down, and she knew it... Like really really knew it. But she was determined to make amends and help him in whatever way she could... If she can. At this point Being useless seems to be her strongest and biggest identifying point.
As they continued their journey, Kagami's initial frustration gave way to a sense of acceptance. He couldn't change the fact that he had nothing useful on him no powers and no canin companion, but he couldn't dwell on what could have been.
Some strange knowledge was already installed in his mind, that said; he kinda have to earn some himself, somehow.
So Instead of focusing on the negatives, Kagami decided to focus on what he could control—his attitude and his determination to make the most of this extraordinary adventure.
(Like the good little champ he is?!)
The two travelers through the city looking around, and went around eventually arrived back at the Adventurer's Guild. where the beautiful receptionist greeted them with a warm smile.
"Welcome back, Kagami and Astaria," she said cheerfully. " It seems like you've made up, that's good, because I have good news for you."
Kagami raised an eyebrow. "Good news?"
The receptionist nodded. "You see, in order to cover the cost of registration and your initial expenses, we offer easy commissions to new adventurers. Completing these commissions not only helps you earn some money but also contributes to the safety of our town and your reputation."
Kagami had some questions, but realized that he would need money to survive in this world, and this seemed like a reasonable and kinda the perfect way to do so. "What kind of commission are we talking about? Slaying big stuff isn't in my resume."
The receptionist gestured to a board filled with requests from townsfolk. "Well, there's one that just came in. A farmer on the outskirts of town is having trouble with a bull-man that's been causing havoc in his fields. We'd like someone to drive it away."
Kagami blinked in confusion. "Bull-man?"
The receptionist smiled mysteriously. "You'll understand when you get there."
Kagami sighed, realizing that there were more surprises in store for him in this fantastical world. "Alright, we'll take the commission then. I hope your smile is a good Omen."
The receptionist's face lit up with delight. "Wonderful! I'll give you all the details you need, and you can head out whenever you're ready. Just remember, you have 15 days to complete the commission, or you may face some...restrictions."
Kagami nodded, his determination renewed. He may not have powers, but he had the will to face whatever challenges this world threw at him. With A certain somebody by his side To use as bait if needed. and now the prospect of earning some much-needed money, Kagami was ready to embrace his role as an adventurer in this strange and wondrous town and world.
And so, with their commission in hand, Kagami and Astaria set off on their next adventure, their path filled with uncertainty, surprises, Drunk and troublesome people, and the promise of a brighter future in a world unlike any they (Kagami) ever known.
( Well... Probably!).
