I was now standing in front of the Adventurer’s Guild. It was huge. Easily three stories tall. I gulped as I stood there, contemplating whether I should open the massive front doors or not. That’s right, it had two massive front doors. I could only imagine it is that way so people could haul in large monsters or party members that needed some form of healing. Just as I was reaching for the door-
BAM!
The front door slammed open. Standing there was a man, two meters in height, with an overbearing sense of doom lingering over him. He had a horrid look in his eyes, as if he was ready to murder everyone in sight. He walked forward and bumped into me, knocking me on my ass.
“Hey! Watch where-!”
He was in the middle of yelling at me but cut himself off. He either noticed I was a child at ten years of age, or it was because I was glaring at him. Either way, he held a hand out towards me to help me up.
I took his hand and we both kind of just stood there, not really knowing what to do next.
“Anyways, watch yourself, kid. Some people aren’t nice to children, so don’t stand in front of a door like that, got it?”
I nodded towards the man without saying a word. He walked past me and headed towards the entrance to the Village. I wonder what that was all about?
I walked inside the Guild. Everyone stopped and looked at me for a moment before returning to what they were doing. Many were drinking and eating, while some were sitting going over maps and whatnot. I looked around and saw the counter where people were lined up talking to receptionists. There was a total of three receptionists, so I stood in the shortest line.
“Welcome to the Beltan branch of the Adventurer’s Guild. Oh my, you sure look young. How can I help you today?”
The receptionist is absolutely stunning. She had to be around the age of twenty, green eyes like that of a forest, golden blonde hair, and a massive bust. All the receptionists had a beauty to them, and they all had chests that rivaled each other. Is this going to be the same at all the branches of the Adventurer’s Guild? Just like in all those light novels I read?!
“Uhm, yes, hello. I would like to sign up for some form of identification and look for work. I am ten years old, just so you know.”
I did my best to focus on my words so I wouldn’t stumble over myself and get embarrassed. I’ve always embarrassed myself when in front of pretty women.
She smiled, causing my heart to skip a beat, and handed me some paperwork. “Can you fill this out for me please? Or do you need some assistance?”
When she asked me, I looked down at the paper and noticed for the first time that I wasn’t speaking in Japanese. When I thought about it, I realized that I was speaking Elvian, the common tongue for humans. It surprised me.

“Oh, no it is alright. I can read and write,” I said while smiling. I was overjoyed. Delimira did as she said and gave me the ability to read and write the languages of Attalea. I took the pen she handed me, (yes there are pens in this world, surprisingly) and started writing down my information. It only asked for my basic information, such as race, age, name, and occupation. I finished up and handed her the piece of paper and the pen back.
She took the paper from me and brought out some weird looking orb like object. She placed the paper under it and looked to me with that charming smile of hers. “Please place your hand on the Appraisal Orb. It will prove what you have written down and I will be able to get you your identification card.”
I did as she asked. When I placed my hands on the orb, I felt something being sucked right out of me. I quickly pulled my hand back and looked at the receptionist in shock. All she did was laugh and explain to me that what happened is the orb only took some of my mana.
Mana. Magic. She just confirmed for me that Magic is real! I was even more shocked than before, and happy. I could use magic!
The receptionist handed me my ID and informed me to put mana into it whenever I needed to show it to someone. Me, being obsessed with the fact I could use magic, immediately funneled mana into my ID. Words in Elvian popped up on the ID.
Name: Ailluin
Age: 10
Race: Human
Occupation: Mage
Rank: E
I was curious what identification nobles and merchants received, but I guess I will have to wait until I become a merchant myself to find out.
“The jobs you can do are on the board over there. They don’t pay well since they’re aimed towards new adventurers and children, such as yourself, so if you’re looking to make enough for a night’s stay, I’d suggest going to the Inn next door and informing them of your situation and asking for work.”
The receptionist is more friendly than I could have hoped for. But maybe that is just her doing her job. I didn’t care though; she was a nice lady.
I thanked her and quickly left the Guild for the Inn. I needed to secure a place to sleep for while I’m here. I also wanted to spend a day or two understanding all that I can do. I also needed to find Clyde and ask about how much it would cost to be taken to the city. I could probably make it there myself, but he seemed like he was willing to help me.
The Inn was right next to the Adventurer’s Guild, just like the receptionist had told me. I opened the door and walked in. There was a bell on the door that alerted the people inside that someone had just arrived.
“Welcome to the Rabbit Foot Inn! Oh, you’re a rather young one. How can I help you today?”
The woman was looking at me with a soft smile, like she was looking at a lost boy who wanted help finding home.
“I would like to rent a room for three nights, please.”
“Are you alone? I couldn’t imagine leaving a young boy all alone to travel.”
She looked genuinely worried, and I didn’t want to cause her to be more upset, so I lied. “I’m traveling to Dalzia to see some relatives. So, I currently am alone, but I won’t be soon.”
“I understand. You must be strong to be able to travel all alone, I know I couldn’t do it. Anyways, a night’s stay without food is a single silver, with breakfast and dinner it will be two silvers.”
I smiled and handed her six silver coins, “I would like to stay for three nights with food included. Only the Goddess knows what will happen if I try and cook for myself. Hahaha…”
I tried laughing it off. I was a horrible cook in my past life and could only imagine what sort of concoction I would make if I gave it a shot in a fantasy world. I even burnt instant rice. Who burns instant rice? Me, that’s who.
“Hehe,” she chuckled, “then I will put you up for three nights. Do you have any identification? If not, you can get some at the Guild next door.”
I handed her my Guild card and smiled. She quickly wrote down my name and what room I would be staying in and handed me a key. My room was on the second floor third door on the left down the right hallway. It was still a couple hours until dinner was ready, so I headed to my room to test out what the Goddess had given me.
