“I am sorry to tell you this, but you have died.”
I could not believe what I just heard. “This has to be a dream, right?!”
The man before me bowed his head, “it was because of a mistake of mine that caused your untimely death. I hope that you find it in your heart to forgive me.”
As I was fretting about how to respond, my memories flash before my eyes proving that the being before me was telling the truth.
I grew up in rural Japan with my grandfather. His wife had passed the year before alongside my parents when they were on their way to town. They were hit by an oncoming vehicle and died on impact. I remember it so vividly, the tears streaming down my face as the memories continued.
My grandfather hugged me tightly at their funeral and said that he would be the one raising me from then on. I had just turned seven years old a few days prior to their deaths, so the memories I had with them were small in number but all the more meaningful.
After a few months had passed, my grandfather started training me in martial arts to help me stay focused. Looking back at it now, I am rather grateful for that since at the time I could not get my parents off my mind. When I would stop in the middle of training, he would swat me with a bamboo stick. It hurt quite a bit, but it kept me focused.
This continued throughout high school, and I ended up continuing it myself during college. I ended up dropping out of college to pursue a career in sales and I was thankful for having my grandfathers backing for that. He supported me throughout my first few years until I was safely on my feet. Then he passed away as well. I was sad, but at the same time happy that he could be back with his wife and children. He meant the world to me, and if I ever have children, I will tell them stories about him as often as I can.
Then when I turned twenty-nine years old, after a big promotion in my company, I died. I had been walking home when I felt an odd twisting feeling on the left side of my body. Next thing I knew, I was here sitting across from a person I can only think of as God, or a God.
My grandfather always taught me that accepting an apology is better than being worked up over what had happened. It is already in the past, so the only way to get over it is to continue forward. I let out a sigh.
“I forgive you. I am not too happy that I died so shortly after getting a promotion at work, but I understand that even Gods make mistakes.”
“Hahaha,” he chuckled, “thank you for understanding. I felt bad about what had happened, so I made sure to preserve your soul and consciousness. Now, do you wish to be returned to the loop of reincarnation for this world, or would you like to be reincarnated in a different world?”
I felt my face twitching from his question. I knew deep down that I would like to be reincarnated in a different world with magic and monsters, but I also wanted to succeed as a salesman in my own world. I just needed to make sure what kind of perks come with being reincarnated.
“Can you explain what would happen depending on which answer I choose?”
The God smiled and nodded. “If you choose to return to the loop of reincarnation for Earth, then you will lose your memories and be reborn as a child to unknown parents. I would make sure that you live a long life and a successful one at that. If you choose to be reincarnated to a different world, then I would be setting you up with a God or Goddess of a different world to reincarnate you. I would make sure they offer you something nice in return for what I had done, so it is all up to you.”
“Hmmmm.” Both offers are quite tempting. “Is there a world with magic in it that you can send me to? I would like to use magic and be a successful salesman in another world. I love Earth, don’t get me wrong, but if there is magic available and I have the option of using said magic, then I would prefer to live there than on Earth.”
The God put a hand to his chin in thought before brightening up and speaking.
“I can get right on that. There happens to be a world that suits your interests well. Technology wise, it is behind Earth, but it has its perks. Magic is rather abundant, and the Goddess looking over the world agreed to have you there.”
I internally jumped in glee. “Alright, well God, could I maybe get your name before you send me away?”
“Hahaha! Of course! My name is Telazaheed. I am not a God who is worshiped in the world you are going to. So, this may be the last time we speak. Take care.”
Before I could tell him my name, I was whisked away to another room with a beautiful woman sitting in a highly detailed chair sipping on what seemed to be tea. She was rather petite, standing at maybe 155cm tall, blonde hair, and ruby red eyes. Honestly, she looked more like a vampire than a Goddess.

“Hello, my name is Delimira. I am the Goddess looking over the world Attalea. Welcome! So, did the God of Earth tell you anything about this world?”
She took me by surprise. She is rather giddy compared to the cold look she had in her eyes only a moment ago. I guess she was just not happy having to deal with a human like me?
I shook my head, “no he didn’t, by the way my name is-”
“I know, don’t worry about telling me your name. I have to thank you though, if you wouldn’t have died, I would have had to sit here looking over this world bored to tears waiting for something entertaining to happen.”
I was completely lost. She is bored of watching the planet? And happy that I was sent here? Just what did she have in mind for me?
“No need to look so scared. It has just been quite some time since I have spoken with the God of Earth. He is such an admirable guy, you know? He has been watching over that planet since the beginning of humanity. I just was given this world to look after a few thousand years ago,” Delimira sighed, “well, now that you’re here I can give updates to your God, so I have something to do. Please do keep me entertained.”
So, she is bored watching the planet Attalea, and her only source of entertainment comes from talking to a different God and whatever happens to me in Attalea.
“Uhm... So, because I died you will have entertainment now? I am quite confused with everything you’re saying.”
I was only speaking the truth. She was all over the place. First asking me if God told me anything about this world, then going into talking about entertainment. I still don’t know what is going to happen to me when I reincarnate.
“You could say that. So, Attalea is a unique world. It houses numerous different races, monsters, and the sorts. Magic is rather abundant on this world too. Telazaheed asked me to grant you a few of your requests, so if they are not outrageous, I will give you whatever you wish.”
She smiled at me after she stopped talking. The smile alone caused my heart to jump a few times. She is definitely a Goddess with how beautiful that smile was just now. And offering me a few requests? So, like powers or something?
I knew for a fact that I wanted some form of dimensional storage, something where time stopped so I could store all sorts of things inside of it. Since this is a world of magic and monsters, it would come in handy rather quickly. Especially when I get into sales. Since this is a fantasy world, I guess I would be called a merchant. I read quite a few light novels and watched a bunch of anime, so I could say without a doubt that being a merchant will be hard but rewarding.
The next issue would be what I wanted to specialize in when it comes to sales. On Earth I was selling new state-of-the-art technologies to people, so having a power that will make It easier to create certain devices would work perfectly. And I knew exactly what I wanted for that.
I smiled at the Goddess after figuring out what I wanted. “I would like to be able to create enchanted items with effects I wish for them to have. That way I could live an easier life and not die so quickly in the world you govern. I wouldn’t want to cut your entertainment so short, especially after you went through the trouble of accepting God’s request.”
“Surely you jest, you will not be dying so easily. I will make sure of that!” She exclaimed with a mischievous grin. “What else would you like? Enchanting is a rather small request since people can learn it so go ahead and ask for something else too.”
I snickered, “in that case, I would like a dimensional storage container of sorts that I can store whatever I wish, and however much I wish inside of it. I want to be capable of using it within three meters of myself.”
Delimira nodded, “anything else?”
“I would also like the ability to communicate in any language whether it be writing or speaking,” I said confidently. This was a big one to me since I am going to become a merchant.
“So, all you are asking is the ability to craft enchanted items with your preferred effects on them, dimensional storage, and the ability to speak all of the languages? Is that all? I have had others in the past ask for quite a bit more than that and I granted it to them. Is there nothing else?”
I hesitated. Is there anything else? “Uhm…. Then what about my body? What is going to happen to that?”
“Hee-hee-hee,” she giggled, “your body is on Earth. I will be putting you into a body of my choosing. You will be age ten when you come to, and you will retain your memories. I will also be tampering with some of your memories to make life easier. This includes knowledge of the world languages and enchanting so don’t worry too much about that. If that is all you wish for, then I will be sending you to Attalea.”
I laughed out loud, catching Delimira off guard. “Sorry, I just never thought this would actually happen to me. I appreciate you and the God from my world. One last request, could we be friends? I know you won’t show yourself on the planet, but I could always go to some church or something and pray to you giving you updates on my life. I’m sure a little intervening at those times to have a small chat won’t be so terrible, what do you think?”
“Friends…. With me? Are you sure? I mean… I will never die, while you have a limited life span… Does that not bother you?” She seemed a little meek when the word friend came up.
“It would only bother me if you were to say yes now and take it back in years to come. Being friends with me will just give you someone to talk to periodically. It may be nothing but a moment for you, but I am sure it will be a moment worth remembering,” I laughed a little before continuing, “also, when either of us are feeling lonely we could just reach out to the other and say hi.”
“Y-yes… Friends… I would love to be your friend. There are plenty of churches to me across the world, so just stop by one when you wish to talk. Once a year is more than enough since time is different for me than it is for you. Now I will be sending you on your way.”
I thanked her for everything so far. She came off as a little weird at first, but she must not have too many friends if she accepted it so easily. I was happy too, being friends with a Goddess. I know it will never be anything but friendship, but I am still happy.
“Oh! By the way my name is-!”
Before I could tell her anything my consciousness went out like a light.
