Chapter 11 - Bunny are carnivores in my place

“(...It’s as expected. Maria, Blanc, catch her, please.)” (Violet)

“(Ay Ay, Yukari! Come one, let do the Huggie Pincer!)” (Martia)

“(Kyu! (You got it, bossess!))” (Blanc)

In 0.01 seconds, just with eye contact alone, they communicate clearly to each other what they need to do, before Martia and Blanc jump out toward Tessa in an instant.

Meanwhile, Violet then glances at her hand, having it transform into something…

----------------------------------------

She felt like she hasn't flown as fast as she does right now, in her entire life before.

Even with not being able to open up all of her wings, she feels like she's at her quickest speed, yet, as the repeated boom rang clearly across all her body.

Or perhaps, she desperately wants it to be so, deep down. And her entire body responds, by flapping its wing as strongly as it can.

So that, just for a brief moment, she can be safe from them.

Unfortunately, such time is short-lived.

Immediately after, she recognized a streak of light chasing below her.

Just from a quick glance, she instantly recognize that it was the younger sister, now becoming a Sprite to instantly catch up to her, by completely turning her body into light.

Tessa is traveling at a dozen times the speed of sound.

However, she is traveling at the speed of light.

As she currently is right now, she cannot outspeed the one behind her.

But, it doesn’t mean she could catch her just yet.

"(It's okay. At level 1, no way she could have gained enough stat and level to fully control her light body just yet! At best she can only use the most basic Light Movement, which required you to pre-designated your location first before moving toward there. Which means, as long as I can change course faster than she can designate her destination…!)"

Immediately deciding on her action, she instantly makes her flight path completely chaotic.

Like streaks of lightning in the sky, her zig-zag and crooked pattern slam great inertia forces on her body. She feels like she gets crushed in a cyclone of her own creation.

But, as expected of an angel who directly serves Laplace, such trouble isn't even a challenge for her perfectly streamlined body.

“(Tsk, I hate to be thankful for my petite body, but this should be over-!!!)”

However, when she turned her head back in presumed relief, she found that Martia have completely caught on her tail. In a panic, she immediately bends up back in an extremely acute angle, just barely slipping through her grasp-Or so she thought, but Martia then immediately bends back with her and resumes following her tail.

For each time she bend away out of her sight, Martia would completely follow up upon that swiftly and perfectly, as if she were a shadow made of light. No matter how many hundreds of times she moves out of her field of vision, Martia can still keep an eye on her.

"(Impossible! I should have been moving faster than her reflex of 0.01 second by many folds!)"

Performing Status Change 100 times in 1 second means that her reflex should be around 0.01 seconds.

Of course, considering the other complex action she has done at the same time as well, her actual reaction times should have been much lower, but it's not as if Tessa has failed to take notice of that, and respond accordingly.

And of course, Martia has also taken notice of that and has responded accordingly as well, limiting her natural reflex to what Tessa thinks she is capable of. To make her be able to calm down, first you need to have at least some part of yourself to be predictable, is what Martia thought.

Of course, that doesn’t mean Martia doesn’t have other ways of catching up to her erratic movements, even if she has to limit herself…

“(!! System Eyes, activate!)”

Quickly enough, Tessa realizes what is going on. She then activates her eyes, which allow her to see everything that happens within the system of the world.

That includes the current skill activation of the one behind her at the moment.

What she saw in front of her eyes, shocked her.

Light Movement is an ability that required the user to first set up the waypoints to which they can move to, before moving toward them at the speed of light.

Of course, one can also link multiple points together, and even set up the hang time between each point, so they can move in complex patterns, in any sort of timing they want, surprising and even catching the enemies in their blind spot.

The number of waypoints one can set up, depends on the mastery of the ability itself, the rank of the light elemental the user is, and the affinity with the light element.

Martia currently has maxed out the skill temporarily, thanks to her Origin Race's ability and her absurd skill and talent.

She is currently only a Sprite, the smallest type of light elemental, because she does not want to scare her.

However, her affinity with the light element is 150%, an affinity status comparable to that of a mid-rank elemental.

As such…

“(No way, she can set-up 150 waypoints at level 1?!)”

As she sees the field of lines and points in front of hers, all connected from one to the next, she exclaims out of the top of her lung (inwardly), like she has done countless times today.

So much so, that she almost not noticing the fact that she’s unintentionally following the line Martia has set up in front of her…

“(...No, isn’t it more like she completely predict and lead my path, 150 steps in advance!? She even set up precise "stop" periods in each of the points, which means she even guesses out how long I take to stop, turn and accelerate again.)”

Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road.

“(Not to mention, each time I pass through one waypoint, another one instantly sprouts up at the end... That would mean that her skill has no cooldown!? How the heck can she maxed out on her skill so fast.)"

“(Which means, unless I do something drastic, she could chase and lead me to a dead end…)"

Being able to see the waypoints that Martia is leading her into, means that there is one obvious course of action she can do.

All she has to do is to move away from the path of all the waypoints that she has set up.

And since Martia has set all of her 150 waypoints in advance, she is forced to move through all of them, before she can then immediately follow up on her tail again.

So, she immediately reoriented herself, and fly up. In a flash, she found herself escaping from the labyrinth cage of the maze-like waypoints path.

Of course still, another waypoint immediately is made to follow her again, but…

"(Calculating the time she needs to go through all of the waypoints...it would take at least 5 seconds! In that time, I would have moved completely far away from her field of vision!)"

Confident in her analysis, Tessa stops trying to move unpredictably, and instead just punches her way straight up, blending herself deep in the dark. Soon enough, the bright light that's just behind her soon becomes a dimmer in the corner of her eyes.

This is, of course, just a temporary solution. Soon enough, that light will be coming up upon her again.

But, for this brief moment, she has time to think.

“(Okay, I can either turn invisible, or warp myself, or just escape out of here…)"

As she's quickly going through all of her options, she failed to account for one thing, in her moment of relief.

To be fair, throughout all of her chases so far, she has only seen Martia chasing around her back, and so has reasonably assumed that there is only one person that's after her…

But, they usually go in pairs.

So, when a giant white dragon suddenly appears in front of her, she is taken so aback, that she almost slams herself straight into her stomach.

While quickly going away from her as fast as she can, Tessa simultaneously checks up on her profile, in her shock.

Only to become even more shocked, again.

“(Fucking hell, a Warp Dragon!? I didn’t know you can even pick that race at the start!)”

Also called a Space Dragon, these dragons move across great distances in space by warping space itself, using their twin jet-like wing strutting to the side, powered by a bright blue core in the middle of their chest.

At the moment, it’s the worst possible match against her.

“(Shit, I can’t hide against the senses of a dragon that high-ranking! I also can’t warp myself out as well, since it can lock down a huge swath of space all on its own…!)"

And obviously, she can catch up to her, as she watches her instantly teleport straight to her face again and again, with a confident smirk on her face.

Moreover…

As she constantly found herself lowering her altitude each time she has to escape from the dragon's grasp, the light she just desperately escape before, now is shining brightly right in front of her again.

And then, the maze-like waypoints labyrinth now completely surrounded her from all sides.

The Warp Dragon, completely covering her path from the sky.

The Sprite, completely blocking her path from below.

In just a few more moments. They would be able to completely pincer her, and she wouldn’t be able to escape no more.

She is in a complete pinch, her survival instinct is in complete overdrive.

She is in complete panic, and as such, her body began to glow brightly, like a bomb about to go off.

“(!Oh no, we pushed angel sis too far!)” (Martia)

“(If we want to have any chance at all to calm her down, we have to eat the point-blank flash straight up…!)” (Blanc)

Instantly, the two recognized their miscalculation.

To make up for that, the two planned to take in the hugely damaging blast that would happen soon, to be able to instantly close in on her and initiate their "capture"…

“(Not yet.)” (Violet)

Just as Tessa is about to blow up as the last resort, she instantly felt a ridiculously murderous gaze, stabbing straight into her backside.

It’s completely run through her neck, make her feel nothing below it, and briefly stopped her heart.

For that brief moment, the sudden loss of control of her own body completely distracted her. And as such, it completely stopped her from self-destruction for 1 second.

“(!Thank you, Big Sis!)” (Martia)

“(Kyu!)” (Blanc)

For them, 1 second is more than enough.

Thanking Violet in their mind, the two of them finally close in on her, before transforming their race once again.

Martia quickly turn into a Yeti, and surrounded her into a ball of fluff, fluffily touching her body and massaging her muscle.

Blanc then turns into an Aroma Dragon, and with countless flowers and plants covering its entire body length and wings, the cool and gentle breeze softly wrap around her from head to toe, putting her mind into a relaxed state.

With her tension suddenly cut like a string, and getting softly assaulted from both sides, Tessa, who is already deeply tired from desperately escaping, quickly found herself nodding to sleep. Then, gently holding both of them in her giant claw, Blanc slowly glide down toward the ground, and land near Violet close by.

“Thank you for helping us, Big Sis! That would have been close!” (Martia)

“Kyu!” (Blanc)

“No problem...still, you two definitely mess up, letting her nearly explode upon you two like that." (Violet)

“Uu...I’m sorry, Big Sis…” (Martia)

“Kyu…(It's just that, chasing after her for quite a while, we're starting to have fun…)" (Blanc)

“And that could cost you two if I haven't covered for you in time. Well, since this is only our player avatar, the harm that could have been inflicted upon you two is kept to the absolute minimum, so I will let it slide this time.” (Violet)

“! Thank you, Big Sis!” (Martia)

“Kyu!” (Blanc)

“However, after we finished playing for today, I expected a full report on today’s operation, detailing what when wrong, so we can review together. Make sure to do it properly, okay?” (Violet)

“Yes, Madam Sis!” (Martia)

“Kyu! (You got it, bossess!)” (Blanc)

Finishing reprimanding both Martia and Blanc, Violet then comes toward Tessa, who has now come to, though still being held between the arms of Yeti-Martia.

Though, with her still being in the fluff massage + dragon aromatherapy combo, she can’t muster the willpower to get out of bed, even if she wanted to.

“Ugh...so fluffy and sofffffft~. It’s like being held between the cloud of fleeciness...” (Tessa)

“My apology for scaring you away like that. Are you okay, now?” (Violet)

“Ughhh...if you want to kill me, being surrounded by this wall of fuzzy mattresses is the way to go…” (Tessa)

“Look like you still haven't completely recovered...Perhaps you should hold my hand, to aid in your recuperation.” (Violet)

“Yeah suuuuure...holding your hand, then you will immediately eviscerate it apar-" (Tessa)

Completely resigned to her fate, Tessa unconsciously reaches toward her hand and holds it, sarcastically.

Then, she found a weird set of sensations.

On the back of her hand, a thick yet bouncy matte of fur rustles through her hand, as if she's handling a fuzzy furball.

On the front of her hand, a squishy feeling can be felt, running from each notch of her fingers, down toward her palm, as if she’s holding down a cat’s palm, popping on their toe bean.

Fluffy, fuzzy, bouncy, squishy. Fluff, squish, fluff, squish…

Repeating the motion of her hands, again and again, it's like she unintentionally short-circuiting herself, trying to make sense of what she's feeling. It's too fluffy to be a cat hand, yet the pad is too soft to be a bunny hand, yet the way her hand can run through the long flowy fur felt like neither…

Curious, she took a look.

It’s exactly what she imagine: A rabbit hand, with big toe beans on her palm and fingers. The hand even has short, sharp claws that seemingly are used for both burrowing and digging into their prey…

It prompts her with a question.

“...Um, what is that?” (Tessa)

“It’s a bunny hand.” (Violet)

"Why does it have giant claws then? That looks like the paw of a big cat instead." (Tessa)

“Bunnies are carnivores back in our places. Hence the soft paw pad as well, to aid in stealthy ambush." (Violet)

“...Of fucking course they are.” (Tessa)

Meeting up with too much absurdity for today, she just simply doesn't have the strength to make any loud retort for this little weird thing. At best she can only make a sarcastic remark with a tired glare toward Violet.

But, that means she has returned to a normal state of mind.

“Thank goodness, look like you have made a full mental recovery. Look like my secret bunny hand training has paid off." (Violet)

“The fact that you think me being sarcastic is normal needs various points of contention though…Also, why do you need 'secret bunny hand training'?" (Tessa)

"? Bunnies are cute right? So, it makes sense to try to emulate their cuteness." (Violet)

With complete seriousness and serious sparkle in her eyes, Violet replied to her thusly. If you would pay even more attention, some sort of menacing bunny Stand is standing behind her as well, posing up the cutest pose they could ever make.

“...You know what, I am wayyy too tired trying to follow that logic. Just let me borrow that hand for therapy, stat.” (Tessa)

“Sure.” (Violet)

And of course, Tessa is way too tired to deal with that shit. So, with a big red sigh, she decided to ignore all that, before furiously rubbing her hand on Violet’s big bunny paw repeatedly.
