Chapter 3

YEAR: 1724. JUNE 8TH. LOCATION: COMMANDER TENT IN IMPERIAL CAMPS.

“Let us celebrate our victory!” Major General Ayas shouted, his face red as he held a glass of wine in his hand. “Cheers!”

“Cheers!” His advisors shouted, clinking their glass together and drinking wines after wines.

Many of the slaves tried to surrender, but they were cut down mercilessly even if they showed that they meant no resistance toward the Imperial soldiers.

Instead of marching to Fort Kespare for a siege after their victory, Ayas had been partying all day. Even though the battle with the 9th Corp wasn’t over, Ayas was treating it like the victory was always his. In his mind, he was sure enemies couldn’t put up a resistance against their force, not when they had knights with them.

Many of the knights in question were also drinking, complaining about how the kingdom’s soldiers were a weakling. Nobody was expecting that the kingdom’s soldiers would attack them when they only had a force of 5,000 and were pushed to the brink of collapse.

Military officers, who had refused to hold a celebration until the victory at Fort Kespare, all watched them stone-faced. In truth, they were the one who had done all the work in the battle while Ayas and his advisors played around.

Ayas was the second son of Duke Winter, one of the most powerful houses in the Emavia Empire. He had got his position through money and didn’t have any battle experiences or achievements under his name. He just let his military officers do all the work and steal their achievements.

Even his advisors were useless as they were nobles who were supporting Duke Winter. They just aimed to gain political advantages using the battles and show good will to the Duke. None of them were useful in battle except to keep flattering their lord.

“Lord Ayas, the battles aren’t over yet.” Major Liano, a military advisor who was sent from a different general, said.

He was sent to keep an eye out for Ayas if something happened. Many of the real officers worried if they let Ayas run freely so they appointed Major Liano as the military advisor to reel the rain of the Northern force. “You should try to prepare for the battle tomorrow.”

“Are you telling me what to do?!” Ayas shouted, spitting flying and landing on Major Liano’s face. “I will do whatever I want! Just look at those kingdom’s soldiers! They fled from my brilliant plan.”

We were the one who almost fled from the battlefield. Major Liano thought, biting his lower lip. The only reason we are still here is because the knights came to support us. If it weren’t for them, we would have lost the battle.

“Your lord is right!”

“Those impudent soldiers are nothing compared to your lord!”

“Your brilliance shouldn’t be wasted in a place like this my lord.”

Major General Ayas’ advisors all showered him with praise as Ayas himself gleed with pride. All of the military officers were red with rage as they tried their best to not shout at them for their arrogance.

Just then, a soldier came running to the tent, out of breaths as he kneeled down, breathing heavily.

“Lord Ayas!” The soldier shouted, clearly desperate. “The enem-”

“What is the meaning of this?!” Ayas shouted, “A filthy soldier, in my tent? I will execute you for dirtying this holy ground!”

“But my lord-” The soldier began to say something, but Ayas had already put his hand on the hilt of the sword.

Just as he was about to bring down the sword, an arrow suddenly pierced the ceiling of the tent and sailed through the air. It wasn’t long before the arrow found its mark and landed on one of Major General Ayas’ advisors.

The advisor blinked as he stared at the arrow in his chest. The blood slowly dripped from his wounds as it dropped to the ground, starting to form a small puddle. Then, he screamed as blood started to pour out from the wound like a fountain as he collapsed on his feet, screaming to call medics.

Stolen novel; please report.

However, the arrow wasn’t a normal arrow as fire started to start around the wound, earning more scream from the advisor as he cried out. The new cry then broke the silence in the room.

The entire room fell into chaos. Ayas collapsed on the ground, a wet spot starting to appear between his legs as he shivered badly. His advisers tried to calm him, but they were also trembling too.

The military advisors all reached out for their weapons and went outside to see the situation for themselve. Major Liano reached for the soldier who came to deliver the news.

“What’s the situation?” Major Liano shouted, shaking the soldier.

“The enemy had sneak attacked us!” The soldier shouted, his voice ragged. “We don’t know the enemy number, but we expect it to be thousands of them!”

“What do you mean by-” Before Major Liano could finish however, an arrow suddenly appeared on his forehead.

Then, just like the advisor, fire spread around the wound as it burned the hair of Major Liano. He collapsed on the ground, blood sputtering out while fire continued to spread around his face.

The other officers looked at him in horror as they quickly went outside to fight the enemy.

YEAR: 1724. JUNE 8TH. LOCATION: THE REAR OF THE IMPERIAL CAMP.

Is this truly the Imperial soldiers? Lieutenant General Cedric couldn’t help but think as he blocked an incoming arrow with his spear. Why, they are the worst.

Cedric had carried out the operation with spilling into three teams, one led by himself with the number 1,000 while the other team was led by Major Zaiden with 1,250 soldiers. The rest of the 1,250 soldiers were led by Major Elion.

Cedric made plans to attack the rear while Major Zaiden and Elion would attack the left and right side of the camp. The front side of the camp will be attacked by the war slaves as they would be a distraction.

Normally, commanders usually stayed at the back line where it was safe, but not Cedric. He was one of the commanders who fought in the front line and gave orders directly to his soldiers.

That way he was called Silver Tip, the warrior with a spear made of silver charging to the enemy without hesitation.

Cedric had expected to meet some fierce resistance when their presence was known. However, what Cedric hadn’t thought was that every Imperial soldier was either drunk, or fell in deep asleep.

I do know that it is a good idea to let soldiers drink booze to cheer their victory, but why now? When they didn’t even win the war? As far as Cedric had seen, not a single soldier was in their right mind.

In fact, even the knights or at least he thought they were knights, ran out of their tent with nothing but their underwear, complaining about the loud noises they were making. They were quickly disposed of by the kingdom’s soldiers.

After seeing the state Imperials were in, Cedric concluded that it would be better to just make a racket and drew the attention of the Imperial soldiers when they were drunk. After all, it didn’t look like the imperials would put up any proper resistance.

Imperial soldiers all ran out of their tent with barely any armors or weapons on, complaining as they vacantly stared at Cedric and his troops. However, they were quickly killed before they realized what was happening. It was chaos.

“Tell 1st to 20th platoon to steal any supplies the Imperial has. However, remind them to burn them down when they can’t steal it.” Cedric said to a runner who was responsible for carrying messages.

“Yes sir!” The runner cried out as he ran behind the lines.

“If they were like this, I wouldn’t have thought so hard about strategizing.” Cedric complained, stabbing his spear into one of the Imperial soldiers who was naked on top. “Their commander must be a dumb person to let such things happen.”

“Sir, we shouldn’t underestimate the enemy.” Devon replied while slashing at a soldier who was only holding a knife in his hand. “The guards that were stationed weren’t drunk. There could be more soldiers like them.”

“But I haven't seen a single soldier in their right minds except those guards.”

The kingdom’s soldiers also realized the situation as they fought with great fiercity. After all, they were thirsting for revenge on those who had killed their friends, families, and comrades.

Cedric and his soldiers kept attacking the enemies who were almost naked by this point. With ease, they advanced deeper to the enemy camp. None of them were strong enough to cause any casualties, but there were some injuries along the way. After all, even if they were drunk, they had trained for a long time to fight.

“Sir, we have reached the commander’s tent!” A scout that was sent ahead to see the situation reported.

“Excellent. Tell the archers to rain down the commander tent with arrows. Then, the light infantry charge in while heavy infantry fight around the tent.”

“Sir!” Another scout came in with a face full of disbelief. “The commander’s tent is already under an attack!”

“By who?” Cedric said, breaking into a fierce smile, amazed by how fast the attack carried out.

Cedric and his 1,000 soldiers had made a fast pace to the tent, but he hadn’t expected the attack of the commander tent so soon. He thought that they would be the first one to reach the tent since the rear was where the defense was weakest. However, the next answers caught Cedric caught off guard.

“Um…” The soldiers looked hesitant as he answered Cedric. “By the war slaves, sir.”

“What?!” Cedric said in disbelief.
