YEAR: 1724. AUGUST 5TH. LOCATION: FORT ESTONAL CURRENTLY UNDER CONTROL OF EMAVIA EMPIRE.
After four weeks of the defeat of the Major General Ayas’ army, the Second and Third Division from Eleventh Legion marched out of Fort Estonal, fully armed to the teeth. They were marching directly to Fort Kespare where 9th Corp was residing so they could crush them once it for all.
The supreme commander of the force, Major General Remnell rode at the front of the marching army with guards all around him, protecting him from any possible attacks. However, Remnell thought it was very unlikely the kingdom’s soldiers would even try an attack.
The report from the spy who was in the Fort Kespare had reported that the 9th Corp’s force numbered 45,000 with every minor forts emptied, instead stationed at the Fort Kespare. The spy also reported they were likely preparing for a siege.
If the spy failed to notice the soldiers marching out of the Fort or was late with the information, it was likely the number of soldiers would be small or the soldiers wouldn’t be able to travel far away from the Fort.
Though it wasn’t the 9th Corp’s soldiers Remnell had to worry about. He had something far worse right next to him, the true threats he needed to be aware of.
“Why are we marching so slowly?!” Major General Caelen, the commander for the Third Division shouted displeasingly.
With the Eleventh Legion’s commander spot empty, it was likely that one of the division’s commanders would be promoted to the spot with enough achievements in the war.
However, this meant that there would be rivals during the battle as every division’s commander would try to have as many achievements as possible in order to be promoted to the spot. During this period, it meant their allies were their enemies and their enemies were allies at the same time.
Caelen was only following Remnell’s order because of General Khile. It would be foolish to disobey an order from their superior if they wanted a promotion. However, Remnell was sure Caelen and his division would act independently when they would start the attack on the 9th Corp. After all, nothing good would come out if he stayed under the command of Remnell who could steal all the achievements from him.
Remnell, for his part, couldn’t care less about the promotion as the only thing he was thinking about was returning to his wife and his children who were back at home. He just wanted to return safely so he could see his loved ones again.
With two different commanders, the army was already falling apart as the Second and Third Divisions couldn’t cooperate with each other. With their commander complaining, Third Division also shared his feeling as they glared at the Second Division who would glare at them in return.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Even if Remnell tried to fix the problem, all he managed to do was annoy Caelen which would result in a worsened relationship with the two divisions.
They continued to march to Fort Kespare as they began to fall apart more.

YEAR: 1724. AUGUST 9TH. LOCATION: NEAR THE PLAIN OF JADE.
“Sir!” A runner suddenly ran up to Major General Remnell and Caelen. “We have spotted the 9th Corp at the Plain of Jade!”
“What?!” Remnell said, full of disbelief. “Are you certain?”
Remnell had expected the 9th Corp would be playing a siege in their Fort Kespare. After all, almost all of their soldiers were new recruits while Remnell and Caelen’s own soldiers were veterans fighting at the Eastern line. They would be crazy to fight face to face.
The only explanation was that it would be some kind of trap. However, Remnell couldn’t figure out what type of the trap was if the spy couldn’t report it. After all, it would take a lot of soldiers to work on a large-scale trap and there was no way that the spy could have not reported it.
Though it was already strange that the spy failed to report the huge army activity, that wasn’t important. The important question was why would the kingdom’s soldiers be here? It didn’t make any sense to Remnell who kept thinking of all the possibilities.
However, there was a certain commander who was too blinded by the glory.
“Ha! That got some guts to try that. Aylsia, tell the calvary to move forward!” Caelen grinned stupidly, “We will crush them and teach them the place!”
“Yes Lord Caelen!” Caelen’s aide, Colonel Aylsia saluted before ordering other officers to move the calvary forward.
“Wait!” Remnell ordered his voice firm. “This is likely a trap set up by the kingdom’s army. We should wait and see what it is before-”
“I’m sorry my lord!” Another scout appeared, breathing heavily. “There’s been a report that General Cedric of the 9th Corp was spotted among them!”
This is definitely a trap! Remnell's instinct screamed in alarm as he ordered his aide, Brigadier General Varian. “Stop the march and send scouts to confirm if it is a trap or not! We will not move forward until we know what we are up against!”
“Afraid to even attack the kingdom’s soldiers?!” Caelen shouted, his eyes slightly in madness. “I am not afraid to attack! Third Division, move forward!”
“Wait-” However, before Remnell could stop Caelen, he was already riding forward with Aylsia and so was the entire force of the Third Division.
“Lord Remnell, what should we do?” Varian asked, his voice conflicted as soldiers from the third division kept passing them. “Should we join them or should we wait?”
“We move forward.” Remnell sighed, “They would be vastly outnumbered if they charged like that. We need to support them to prevent huge losses.”
“Yes lord Remnell!” Varian saluted before ordering the officers to move forward.
This may be my last day to see the day. Remnell thought as his instincts kept screaming of danger. Together with Varian, they began to march to the Forest of Jade with the entire force in total disorder.
