CHAPTER 297
Emma tilted her head to look at Ann and scolded, "What are you doing? Sebastian already has a wife and children. Why are you doing this to him? Hurry up and apologize to him!"
"Mrs. Emma." Sebastian laughed. Raising his eyebrows, he asked Emma, "Do you think this matter will be resolved after she apologizes to me?"
She hurriedly said, "Of course not. You are the victim, so you have the final say on this matter."
Since Ann was panicked and scared, she grabbed Emma's arm in horror and begged, "Mom!"
The fear came from the unknown. She didn't know how Sebastian would deal with her, but she knew if Emma refused to plead for her, Sebastian would not easily let her go.
He had no sympathy for Ann. Ann knew that if her mother refused to help her, she would be finished.
"Be quiet!" Emma gazed at Ann with a heartbroken look. "Don't you remember my teachings? You must be brave enough to take responsibility if you do something wrong. Even if you like him, you must not resort to such underhand tactics! Since you made a mistake, you must admit it!"
"I'm sorry!" Ann suddenly realized something. Getting up from the sofa, she panicked and knelt before Philip. "Mr. Philip, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt Sebastian. I like him so much and wanted to take care of him for you. I don't want to hurt him…"
Philip looked at her coldly, and his voice lost the usual kindness he used when he talked to her. Now, it was bone-chilling. "Do you know who I hate the most? Those who hurt my son!"
He had suffered from sickness for half his life, so his greatest wish was that his son would be healthy and free of illness.
Everyone had a bottom line and Sebastian's health was Philip's nerves. Ann gave Sebastian that stupid drug and tested my bottom line. In the past, although I did not love Ann as my daughter, I took good care of her and did not mistreat her. However, she still drugged my son! She can resort to such an underhand tactic when Sebastian doesn't like her. Does that mean she will poison him if he does something she hates? In the past, I treated Ann as my family because of my wife. However, I hate to see Ann now. I don't want to see her anymore!
"Kick her out," Philip said coldly. "From now on, Ann Evans and the Hart Family have no ties. She will not be allowed to set foot in any property related to us!"
"N-No!" Anna cried and said, "Mr. Philip, I'm so sorry. I am really sorry. I was not in my right mind. Please don't do this to me. To me, you are like my birth father and you can discipline me all you want, but please don't disown me, Mr. Philip!"
Anna couldn't lose her status as the cousin of the Hart Family.
That status was the foundation of her life in Dusktown. She was not the daughter of some famous family. The only thing she had was her status as the Hart Family's cousin.
She could integrate into the circle of Dusktown's upper-class society and became Dusktown's famous figure because of her status.
Once the Hart Family severed ties with her and disowned her, she would no longer be the famous figure in Dusktown. She would be mocked by the women who were as renowned as Ann.
They would still be phoenixes, but Ann would be a crow. She wouldn't have the respect she had in the past. No! This is too cruel. I made a small mistake; Mr. Philip can't do this to me. I am the only girl in the Hart Family. Was the love and care I received from the family all fake? How can he punish me severely for making such a small mistake?
"I only have a son. I don't have a daughter." Philip sneered at Ann. "Whoever hurts my son is my mortal enemy. You hurt my son and still want me to take care of you and let you be a part of the family? Do you think we will easily let you take advantage of us?"
"I'm sorry, Mr. Philip. I was too obsessed. I didn't mean it!" Ann panicked as she cried all over. She crawled to Philip and hugged his leg. "Mr. Philip, that drug was harmless, I swear! I like Sebastian; how could I hurt him? It was not a harmful drug. I didn't mean to hurt him. I just wanted to be with him and take care of him! I—"
"Take her away!" Philip didn't want to listen to her excuses and ordered Quinton.
Quinton immediately came over and pulled Ann away from Philip's leg.
"Dad, you're too kind." Sebastian said lightly, "She bought illegal drugs and it is a crime. You are a law- abiding person; how could you forget this? Didn't you say everyone is equal before the law? She bought illegal drugs, yet you decided to let her go after disowning her?"
"Sebastian, w-what are you talking about?" As her eyes widened, Ann stopped struggling and looked at Sebastian in disbelief. "H-How can you treat me like this?"
She looked at him with surprise, and her heart was shattered into a million pieces. He means the world
to me. I am willing to do anything for him, including throwing away my life. However, he said such cruel words to me. I know what he meant. He wants to press charges against me and he wants to report that I brought contraband. How could he be so cruel? Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.
Compared to her despair, Sebastian was calm. "What I said is the truth."
"That's right; I was clouded with anger." Philip then announced, "Seb is right. Everyone is equal before the law, and the law can't be challenged! Her purchase of contraband is a crime and she must be handed over to the police. Quinton, call the police!"
"Yes, sir!" Quinton agreed energetically and took out his phone to call the police.
At this point, even Emma was stunned, what more to say of Ann.
Emma didn't expect Sebastian to be so ruthless. She thought it would be best if Ann's plan would succeed. If the plan failed, Ann would be scolded and left out for a while at most. With Emma as a mediator, Ann's relationship with the Hart Family would be restored in three months, if not two years.
Emma never expected Sebastian to be so ruthless and try to report it to the police. If Ann was arrested on the charge of buying contraband, her reputation would be affected alongside Ann's.
Ann was Emma's only daughter, and Emma raised Ann all on her own.
Now, Emma and Ann were one. Emma could not have a good life if Ann became a criminal.
Moreover, Emma had only one daughter to count on for the rest of her life, so Ann couldn't be imprisoned.
As such, Emma immediately stopped Philip. "Philip, please calm down. It is not right for Ann to buy contraband. However, she and Seb are cousins. They are a family, so this is a family matter. We can criticize and educate our family. You don't have to complicate things by reporting to the police and wasting their resources."
