Meng Lin slowly opened her eyes, her body feeling heavy and her head pounding with pain. She tried to sit up, but her body felt weak and she couldn't move.
She looked around and realized that she was in a large room, with beautiful decorations and expensive furnishings.
On the ceiling were blue luminescent light that radiated warmth through her skin.
She tried to remember what had happened, but her mind was hazy and she couldn't piece together the events that had led to her being here.
Suddenly, the door to the room opened and a man walked in. He was tall man, with short black hair and piercing blue eyes.
He wore a black robe with a silver trim, and Meng Lin could sense a powerful aura emanating from him, however she also felt a sense of trust in him.
"Who are you?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
The man walked over to her and sat down on the bed, looking at her with a kind expression.
"My name is Wen Boshan, and you are in a courtyard of the Soul Shattering Sect” he said.
"You were found captive by masked men inside our sect's boundary, and we brought you here to heal your injuries."
Meng Lin tried to sit up, but Liang Feng gently pushed her back down.
"Rest, you are still recovering," he said. "A few spiritual vains were disoriented and your orifices were damaged, we will talk more when you are feeling better."
Meng Lin nodded, feeling confused and disoriented. She couldn't remember anything about being captured by masked men.
But she did recognize a mask man in her memories after the prison room was destroyed.
As she lay there, she noticed that her qi was slowly recovering and she was no longer in pain.
She felt lightheaded so she slept through it, trying to get to a right state of mind.
After some time, Wen Boshan returned to check on her and they began to talk.
Meng Lin asked him about the masked men and if they had any leads on who they were and why they had captured her.
Wen Boshan looked at her with a serious expression. "We are still investigating the matter, but we believe that the masked men are individuals who are targeting cultivators with Luan’s soul”
Meng Lin listened intently, trying to piece together her memories. She remembered being at the ruins as well as the prision room.

"Do You know of Lord Yuan, the emperor of the Yuan Dynasty," she asked with curiosity.
Wen Boshan's expression turned solem as he nodded. "Yes, we are aware of him. He is a dangerous individual who colluded with demons and attacked one of the rank 4 sects at the north”
“The north?”
“Yes, the Levitation Sect. They were attacked by Lord Yuan and his army of demons, and many of their disciples and elders were killed in the process, they were only able to escape through a grand teleportation formation.”
Meng Lin's heart remained unmoved as this was knowledge that she already knows, yet it seems that she was also one of the reasons for the attack.
Wen Boshan looked back at her with a weird expression before continuing. "Have you not heard of the news."
“Hmm, what news”
“Because of the attack on the Levitation Sect, the Cultivation Alliance sent out dozens of Narscent Soul Cultivators that razed the whole Yuan kingdom capital in retaliation, destroying almost everything in it”
“What” Hearing that the capital was destroyed , Meng Lin felt a mixture of shock and sadness. "The citizens and civilians, are they okay?" she asked, hoping for something.
Wen Boshan looked at her with raised eyebrows. "I am sorry to say that the casualties were high. All the innocent people lost their lives in the attack."
Thumb
Meng Lin felt tears welling up in her eyes as she thought about the father she had known and loved. She felt a sense of guilt at her own powerlessness.
“So was he captured” Meng Lin asked with a sadness in her eyes as she wondered what happened in the end.
“No he was killed, although he killed 4 other Narscent Soul Cultivators, he was overwhelmed in the end”
Meng Lin felt a sense of relief mixed with her sadness, Lord Yuan was a dangerous and powerful opponent, and his death meant that he could no longer come for her, making her safety assured.
But the loss of life, both on the side of the Cultivation Alliance and the innocent civilians, was a heavy price to pay, she hoped her father was alive.
“Earlier when I said the north you acted shock, are you not someone of this place” Wen Boshan asked with curiosity.
Meng Lin shook her head “no, judging by what you said I can only assume that this is not in the Yuan Kingdom but rather one of the other 4”
“you’re from the Yuan Kingdom, if so how did you get here, are you in any way connected to the event that just transpired”
Meng Lin hesitated for a moment, unsure if she should reveal her secrets. But she felt that Wen Boshan could be trusted, seeing as he had no reason to play games with her.
"I am originally from the Yuan Kingdom," she began. "A few months ago I joined and became a diciple of the Levitation Sect, however because of the incident, I was captured by Lord Yuan…”
Wen Boshan listened intently, his expression serious and focused as he didn’t interrupt Meng Lin.
“…That’s when I awakened here”
Wen Boshan sighed, his expression troubled "I see. It seems that you have been through a lot," he said. "But you are safe now, and you don’t have to hide anymore, this Sect of ours considers anyone with Luan Soul as a great potential so you are welcome to stay with us and cultivate here."
Hearing from him Meng Lin felt a sense of relief and gratitude. She had hidden herself from the very beginning so she felt a sense of peace having said everything.
"Thank you," she said, her voice filled with emotion. "I will do my best to contribute to the sect."
Wen Boshan nodded, his expression kind. "We are happy to have you here, Meng Lin. You are now a member of the Soul Shattering Sect, and we will do everything we can to help you grow and become stronger."
Meng Lin nodded, feeling grateful for his kindness. She knew that she had a lot to learn about this new place and the people in it.
But for now, she was just relieved to be alive and in good hands, she smiled with a relieved expression.
However at the back of her mind she couldn’t help but feel that something was off.
