“Level one…”
I looked down at the ID in my hand. An azure blue metal card detailing my personal information.

“Unknown? Tsk.”
I tilted my head upwards to see the many floors and labyrinth of paths going across the building. Many students swarming across the bridges and conversing with their pathetic classmates. I shouldn’t be wasting time down here.
I concentrated my energy beneath my feet again and rose upwards. Upon moving ahead of the first floor, I hit an invisible wall. A barrier of some sort? I clenched my hand into a fist and punched up, a blue ripple coursed through the invisible wall.
“Okay then…”
I held my hand out down my sides and spread my fingers. The ice from below me gravitated to my hand forming a long shaped weapon with a sharp tip. An ice spear.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
I gripped the spear firmly and thrusted upwards! The ice shattered upon impact, small pieces falling over my head.
“It won’t work.” said a familiar squeaky voice.
I turned around to see a tiny pixie the size of my hand, fluttering her wings right beside me. She donned a miniature version of the school’s uniform, with her hair pulled back into a ponytail and round glasses.
“What is this? It’s not a simple barrier is it?”
“Oh, but it is.” she teased.
“My magic isn’t so weak. If I were to throw another spear into the ground, the whole building could collapse.”
“Is that so? Novice.” said the pixie, flying above my head and seamlessly passing whatever barrier there seemed to be.
She looked down at me and a smirk appeared across her tiny face. Am I being taunted by a damn wood pixie? I placed two fingers to my head and blinked rapidly at her. I’ll just have to take this creature’s ID if need be.
She isn’t coming closer. Is it because she’s alive? I blinked even faster.
She finally seemed to be drawn in, inches away from my eyes now. She put her hand cupped at her mouth and leaned in like if you were telling a secret.
“What are you doing?” she whispered at me, a puzzled look on her face.
I stood there, dumbfounded. So the barrier cancels out other forms of magic as well...sigh.
“ID.” I said, bring my hand up to her.
She fluttered back beside me, reaching inside her uniform pockets and pulling out a tiny metal piece. She flew closer to my right eye while I shut the other.

“Guardian? How can something so tiny be a guardian of anything?”
She pulled back the ID and shoved it back to whatever pocket she pulled it from, “There has to be some type of guardian to stop arrogant one’s such as yourself.”
I looked down then back at her, giving one more glance at someone so stupid. I guess I need to start from the bottom. Such a pain. I brought my hands to the side, palms down. Focusing on the center of my palm, the ice beneath my feet broke off slowly, turning into small particles. They melted into my skin as I descended down the ice pillar slowly.
The fluttering of the pixie grew distant. Guess she went to the higher floors. Hmm… a pixie guardian who could use time magic. Interesting…
Upon reaching the ground, I walked towards the farthest wall, starting with the bookshelves farthest from the entrance. I’m going to make it up there one way or another.
I stood in front of the aisle, back flat against the wall. I held my arms in front of me, palms out towards the two bookshelves in front of me. I felt a tingling sensation at my fingertips. Focus. Pure. Focus.
Books one by one flew out from the bookshelves and gravitated towards me. Yes, this will be quick.
