I pushed the light body of flesh off of me. Leah’s butt making a soft thud as she landed on the floor.
“Ow, ow, ow. Can’t you be more considerate?” Leah scolded, rubbing her behind as she stood up.
I got up to my feet and gave her a stare that if you could see, would pierce into your ancestor’s souls.
“What do you want?” I asked, after she wouldn’t leave after a few minutes.
“Leo… Are you bipolar? Sick?”
There she goes, asking those stupid questions again.
“Neither, now piss off.”
“Sorry, but no. We saw what you did to the other groups in there, and… how did you have enough mana to make that ice pillar? That was way too huge for any first year without royal blood to make.”
“Maybe blood isn’t all that it’s cut out to be.” I replied, walking down the hall of the library.
“And what of your hair? Did you suddenly decide to get a makeover during the test?” she shuffled up towards me, grabbing my arm.
I brought my arm up and down to get rid of her hold and stared at her again. When I looked into her eyes, I could see they were watered up, close to tearing.
Tsk.
I turned back around and continued down the library, trying to find the stairs.
“I just wanted a change of pace. Is that a crime?”
“No, but the way you are acting is borderline hysterical… just.. Just.” her voice welled up. “Just wait a fucking minute, Leo!” She bellowed out.
It’s like all movement in the library ceased because the silence was deafening. I looked up to see heads peering over the railing to look down at us. The bloody blue hair is attracting attention.
I grabbed my brush again and created a doorway.
“Come here.” I said, grabbing Leah’s wrist and pulling her inside with me.
So much for the library research.
We entered out the other side in my dorm room. I tossed Leah onto the bed and her face turned beet red.
“Why are we in your room?” she asked, stammering.
What happened to the confident persistent princess from earlier?
“We can talk here without you attracting needless attention. Now then, what can I tell you that will make you stop bothering me.”
She looked around the room, clutching onto the bed covers. What’s going on here? What is this mood?
“Wait… how did you know this is my room at just a glance?” I asked, seeing her jump at the question.
“I-I it’s my turn to ask the questions is it not?!” She yelled out in response.
The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
Sigh, “Very well, what do you want to know. I just want you out of my hair.”
I could see her throat lump down as she swallowed.
“Who are you.” she asked predictably.
“Leo Lavisellion.” I answered without missing a beat.
“No, who are you and who are the others that are controlling Leo?”
Observant isn’t she.
A smirk crept onto my face. “It’s the truth, I am Leo…. Along with the person that fought with you in the dungeon before. He is Leo as well. We are what you call… conscious personas? We didn’t agree with how Leo was running things, so we fought each other. And eventually… took over this body.”
Leah’s face showed a hint of shock, but quickly died down. Like she knew it all along.
“So, you are all just.... Fragmented personalities?” she asked, twiddling with her thumbs.
“Correct. Nothing more, nothing less.”
“And what of the previous Le- I mean personality? The original!”
“Gone. Unless he is able to rise in the ranks of the Dream Arena which I highly doubt, he will not return. And even if he did, I am not one to put up an easy fight. I will contain this body until the day it decomposes into the ground below and my soul is freed back into the mana.”
A look of confusion finally washed over her face.
“Arena? What is this arena?” She asked, tilting her head to the side.
I waved my hand and the white book appeared onto her lap. Flipping through the first few pages of the arena.
“I haven’t read the book yet, but those images are supposedly more arenas in the Dream Realm. The first arena is where I came from.”
“Wait, wait. How many are there of you?” She asked frustratingly, bringing a hand to her forehead.
The smile grew into a sly grin.
“There are many.” I said cockily.
I mean I’m allowed to no? I beat all those lesser versions after all.
“Okay… now how did this…. Happen?”
“What do you mean?” I asked, conjuring a chair and sitting down to cross my legs.
“How did you all… come to life?” she whispered out, like it was the world’s greatest mystery.
There's many great mysteries out there. Have you heard of the headless horsemen? The tongueless conjurer? The spirit who walks around as a human but is only there to suck off your life energy? See, many, many are more interesting than this.
I took a deep breath and let out a sigh.
“I’m sorry, but even I don’t have the answer for that.” I replied.
“H-how? There were always lots of you?”
I paused for a moment, bringing a hand up to stroke my chin.
“Correct. Except before, before we were broken up into hundreds of little pieces.” I felt the tension in the air grow as I leaned in close. “We were whole.” I leaned back into my chair.
“Can you imagine that? Me, complying with flower heads and pathetic fools. No, I was merely being complacent… I just got sick and tired of it.”
