Chapter 15

I left the surveillance spiders outside just to keep their eyes on things. I was hoping I scared them enough to keep them from sending anyone else through until we can break away from this world.

“I can't believe this is the home world of the elves. Honestly real anticlimactic.” I bitched out loud to no one in particular as I settled down on my throne. Not that I had respect for the elves but from the few times I had fought them I had built up this idea of how they lived. A real spartan lifestyle that matched their killer instincts.

“It is possible that the elves that you previously came into contact with were either not from this world or were born completely in the dungeons they came from.” Daisy's reasoning made perfect sense as always.

“You know, there was a part of me that just wanted to bitch to, but whatever.” I leaned back and closed my eyes. “Wake me up if anything happens.” For some reason ever since I became a monster it was very easy to fall asleep and stay asleep for a long period of time. According to everything I’ve put together with Daisy this is simply because my life force is the dungeon itself. It takes a lot of energy to maintain the dungeon which in turn allows me to fall asleep for extended periods of time to recuperate from the energy loss. I didn’t mind since most of the time it was incredibly boring to just roam the dungeon. I drifted off into dreamless sleep.

“There is movement outside the gate.” Daisy’s voice brought me out of the void and stirred me awake.

“What is the issue?” The image from the surveillance spider came up. There were at least 13 elves moving around the gate. I was about to call the guards to action but something made me stop.

“What the hell are they doing?”

“Unclear.” From what I could tell none of the elves seemed to have weapons. Looking closer at them it was clear that none of them were warriors either. I sat there watching them for a few minutes as they scurried around the gate carrying various objects like baskets and blankets.

“Oh, for fuck sake. What the hell is this?” The elves had laid out blankets in a shabby ‘red carpet’ look with baskets of fruits and vegetables lining the outsides. There were small wooden carvings of spiders that were placed in intervals along the path. At closer inspection, the wooden carvings were based on the likeness of myself and my main attack force.

“It seems like the elves have made an altar in your honor.”

“Yeah, I can see that. My question is why?” I felt a little bit of sadness from the surveillance spider at the fact that there was no spider resembling them among the statues. “They couldn't see you since you were sent in stealth. Plus, this isn't something to be happy about, it's insane.”

“Someone is approaching the gate.” I focused on the image as an elderly elf made his way up to the gate and knelt down in front of it.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

“Hend et ulen con vout shoulten vak mechi weladun” The elderly elf and those that were kneeled behind him all bowed down paying respects. The jumble of sounds that came out of the elf's mouth made no sense. Not only was it impossible to understand them, but the sound itself was unpleasant to my ears.

“Do you know what they are saying?” I asked winching a little as the elf continued to rant.

“No.”

“Ugh. Fine. Can you at least mute it?” I winced again as the elf repeated his words again. The voice turned off in my head which let me breathe comfortably. The elves were repeatedly bowing down while facing the gate. I sighed and made my way to the gate ordering the soldiers to follow me. I had no plans to kill them all, but I also didn't want to have them entering my dungeon either. I exited the dungeon onto the elven world keeping my soldiers ready and on the other side.

As soon as I got through the elves immediately stopped chanting and a cold wave of fear ran across them. The elder elf lowered himself speaking the same jumbled words causing me to wince. I hissed as I shook off the annoying noises. My hiss silenced the elves. “What the hell do you want?”

My words sent another wave of fear over the elves and many of them covered their ears wincing in pain. Looks like my words are just as annoying to them as they are to me. I was a little smug at that fact. Damn, maybe I am becoming a monster, well that or just an ass hole. The elder was the closest and was trembling all over. Looking around I saw the baskets were full of fruits, bread, and other types of food.

“It seems that the elves are trying to make an offering to me in exchange for not killing them.” I instinctively spoke out loud causing another wave of wincing and flinching.

“Floundo weela kella touk.” The elder said pointing from the baskets to me. Well, that confirms that. I turned back and headed toward the vortex leaving the shaking terrified elves behind me. The soldiers came out of the gate as I approached and began gathering the baskets and walking them back into my dungeon.

“With any luck, this will keep them from doing anything stupid.”

“I believe it will.” Well if Daisy agrees then it is most likely true. The last of the baskets were brought into the dungeon and stacked around the throne. I grabbed a fruit that looked exactly like a bright red apple and settled down on my throne.

“Now that I think about it, I haven't eaten anything since I woke up.”

“You do not need to intake any nutrients, since you take in the energy from the dungeon itself.” I held up the apple and sniffed it. It smelt like an apple. I turned it around inspecting every inch of the fruit. It looked like a red shiny apple.

“It looks like an apple smells like an apple. Must be an apple then.” I opened my mouth and bit down on the apple. I was salivating as the familiar crunch of a fresh apple was felt through my jaw. The rushing taste of grapes filled my mouth. I blinked confused as I chewed. It was definitely a grape that I was tasting.

“Honestly, this is really unpleasant yet incredibly tasteful.” I looked at the basket of fruits and pulled it toward me. After a few minutes, I sat there dumbfounded. There were oranges that tasted like vanilla, and melons that were sour. Nothing was correct! None of them tastes bad, but it was just a rush of confusion. I gave up on the food and leaned back on the throne and closed my eyes. From the looks of it, the elves were not coming anywhere near the gate and were slowly starting to rebuild their village which the forming of the vortex caused.

“I'll wake you if anything happens,” Daisy said as I began to drift off to sleep.
