Muzan's face stiffened as she read Kokushibou's letter.
After a pause, she picked up Teru's letter. The content of both letters was similar, but Teru's reaction to that woman was vastly different.
Her good mood was completely shattered, and now she wore an expressionless face.
How dare he? Is it true?
A sense of grievance surged in Muzan's heart, then she began to console herself, only to get chagrined again after a while.
Biwa Demon was scared. She couldn't but kneel on the ground.
In the hundreds of years she had known Muzan, it was the first time she had had such intense emotional fluctuations.
"I'll go in person." Muzan said to herself. She closed her eyes and paced back and forth.
"No problem, Muzan-sama! I'll teleport you to..."
"No, forget it."
If she personally confronted him, wouldn't that show how much she cared about him? Maybe she should wait. He would be back tomorrow, and she could ask for his explanation then.
...
Kokushibou had already left.
Teru tried to open the door as quietly as possible. He planned to give his wife a little surprise.
Huh, not in the tea room? Usually, Muzan drinks tea and reads books at this time every day.
Teru followed the sound of conversing, walked to the doorway and heard the voice of a strange woman.
"Muzan-sama, how does this outfit look?"
"Hmm..."
"What about that one? When I wear it, those men..."
Teru intentionally coughed several times from a distance, and the room fell silent. After a moment of hushed whispers, Muzan walked out of the bedroom, followed by a woman.
The woman was adorned in luxurious clothing, with an extremely beautiful appearance, yet meekly trailing behind Muzan Watanabe.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
"Good morning!" Teru said with a smile.
Daki looked up arrogantly and didn't respond.
After all, she was an upper-rank demon, while he was just a tool for Muzan-sama's disguise. There was no need to be polite to him!
Suddenly, Teru broke out in a cold sweat because Muzan slightly turned her head and was gazing at her. Daki forced a smile and greeted him.
"Are you Muzan’s friend? You’re such a beauty! Still, Muzan is the most gorgeous girl I’ve ever seen." Teru thumbed up.
Daki could see that Muzan's face blushed slightly when she heard that.
"Since you're here, let's all sit down and have some tea." Teru said gently.
Muzan didn't seem to have much social interaction with people, so he wanted to entertain this rare friend properly.
"I brought some wisteria flower tea. What do you think?"
What should I do, brother? Daki was urgently asking for help in her mind.
Just come up with an excuse to leave! Gyutaro replied.
"I actually have some business to attend to at work. Sorry, have to leave now!"
Daki then rushed out of Watanabe's house.
She was proud of her quick thinking, now she didn't have to drink the deadly wisteria flower tea meant for demons. She sensed Muzan-sama's approving gaze from behind.
The little girl went to find her brother to boast about her intelligence, and as usual, Gyutaro doted on his sister and praised her a lot. He was deliberately protecting her childishness.
"What a strange woman!" Teru said, astonished, as she watched Daki running away.
"Oh, you don't like wisteria flowers, do you? Let's have something else then!"
While sipping tea, Teru also kept his eyes on her wife, trying to make up for the two days they hadn't seen each other.
Today, Muzan was dressed in a Western-style dress, as opposed to her usual kimono. She was charming, not as usual, but in a different way. When she wore a kimono, she was a virtuous wife, but in the Western dress, Muzan looked like a dazzling princess.
"What are you looking at?" Muzan asked.
"You." Replied Teru.
Muzan lowered her head. The slight upturn of her lips was a sign of her good mood.
"How was the meeting?"
"Pretty good. I collected much useful information. Yet it wasn’t that interesting though, since most attendees were middle-aged men..."
Teru got lost in thought for a moment, then suddenly clapped his hands.
"There was a young female doctor, we had a courteous exchange."
She quietly sipped the green tea in her cup and responded leisurely, "Is that so? Haven't you told her that you have a strong bond?"
Teru leaned forward, getting close to Muzan's fair face.
She looks so pale, she should get some sunlight, he thought with concern.
"Through prosperity and adversity, in wealth and poverty, in health and sickness, in joy and sorrow, I love you, cherish you, forever." Teru said earnestly, gazing into Muzan's eyes.
"I will never forget or betray these vows."
Muzan blushed, so she instinctively turned her head away.
Why was her husband suddenly so articulate today? Thinking about other things, she tried to distract herself.
And that was when Teru held her hand in his palm. Muzan felt as if her face was burning.
He shouldn't let his wife know about the demons. Otherwise, she might get scared. Teru decided to come up with a white lie.
"You misunderstand me. I have an acquaintance with that female doctor, and those words were nothing but expressions of politeness."
Suddenly, Muzan pulled her hand back.
Teru was a bit perplexed.
Was she not mad anymore? Just now, he felt her heartbeat and breathing quicken. Could it be that she was shy?
"Tomorrow, there's a celebration in Fukushima Prefecture tonight. Shall we go together?"
