Chapter 6 : Letters

The next day was another cloudy one.

In the afternoon, Kokushibou sat under the roof, arms folded over his chest. Today, there was no sun, so he could safely come out and move around without worrying about being harmed by sunlight.

Not far away, in the courtyard, Teru was chatting excitedly with a woman.

They chatted and laughed, as if they were not in an academy, but were expressing affection for each other. They stood out among the group of elderly doctors.

"That attire...is she one of the hashiras from the Demon Slayer Corps?"

But it doesn't matter. The foundation of the Demon Slayer Corps lies in the Kaguya family. If the Kaguya family wasn’t eliminated, hashira-level swordsmen would keep regenerating like worms, no matter how many times they got killed.

Nowadays, there are obviously more important matters at hand.

Kokushibou returned to the room, took out paper and a pen, and began to write a letter to be handed to Muzan-sama.

"Yesterday on the train, I encountered a new hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps. He possesses extraordinary talent and wears a demon mask and red haori. It would be best to find out and eliminate him."

"Teru knows nothing about fighting. Also, heis an ordinary person who knows nothing about demons. He poses no threat to me."

"The scent of wisteria flowers makes weak demons uncomfortable, but it barely has any effect on me."

"Teru and the female hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps had a delightful conversation. They seemed to get along very well, addressing each other as 'destined ones.'"

"I witnessed all of this with my own eyes, and there is no falsehood..."

On the other side.

"What aspect of medicine are you good at, Miss Shinobu?"

"I am skilled in using poisons," Insect Hashira, Kocho Shinobu replied with a smile.

"Really? Hahaha..." Teru's smile seemed a bit stiff. After a while, he suddenly remembered something and asked, "Miss Shinobu, are you a member of the Demon Slayer Corps?"

Kocho Shinobu appeared surprised.`

"Dr. Watanabe, where did you hear about the Demon Slayer Corps?"

This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.

"It seems that I have a destined encounter with the Demon Slayer Corps, haha! I've met a boy named Tanjiro before, and today I met Miss Shinobu. By the way, what exactly are demons?"

"They are dangerous beings who feed on humans. They can only be killed by sunlight or specially crafted blades." Kocho Shinobu replied without elaboration.

Is that so?

Teru stroked his chin and thought to himself, "Last time, I killed it with just one slash. It seems like there's nothing special about demons."

Sunlight...Teru tried to recall a thought that had flashed in his mind earlier, but he couldn't remember it.

After some more small talk, they bid each other farewell.

Teru noticed that Kokushibou was writing a letter. He quietly approached from behind and patted his shoulder.

Kokushibou was startled and turned around, only to see Teru's smiling face.

"Are you writing a letter to your wife?"

"No." Kokushibou replied apathetically.

"Then I want to write a letter to my wife. Could you lend me paper and pen?"

Kokushibou hesitated for a moment, then handed him some new pieces of paper, silently sitting in place. Teru moved the desk away, deliberately turning his back to prevent Kokushibou from seeing the content he was writing. The samurai's mouth twitched as he walked out of the room.

"She must be very happy to receive my letter!" Teru felt content in his heart.

He straightened his posture and picked up the pen:

"A day without seeing you, I miss you so much..."

Is this opening too insincere? He threw it away and took out another blank paper.

"...I've been researching a lot about your illness recently and have discussed it with other doctors. I've made some progress in understanding the condition, but haven't achieved a complete breakthrough yet. However, I will definitely cure your illness."

His wife was easily jealous. After thinking for a moment, he added:

"...I also met a female doctor, but I had no intimate contact with her. Recently, your employee, Kokushibou, is with me. He and I get along well, and he can confirm that I haven't done anything."

"Miss you much. Teru."

Teru looked at the letter and felt very satisfied. Muzan would surely be pleased with this. The letter conveyed his dedication to curing her illness and his heartfelt affection as well.

Perfect!

He took the letter to the entrance and handed it to the people from the Kaguya family, telling them to deliver it.

...

"Muzan-sama, the letters from Kokushibou and Teru have arrived."

Inside the Infinity Castle, Biwa Demon received the letter from Kokushibou through a miniature portal and handed them to Muzan.

Muzan held two letters in his hands—one was Teru's letter, and the other was Kokushibou's report.

She hesitated for a moment and decided to read Teru's letter first.

Muzan pursed her lips and opened the letter.

Biwa Demon knelt quietly beside her, awaiting her orders.

At this moment, Muzan's ears turned red.

Is she angry? It's rare to see Muzan-sama in this state.

"Puff!"

Did she just chuckle out of great anger?

Biwa Demon shivered. This was terrifying—Muzan rarely gets angry to this extent. No, not rarely, she has never been so infuraited before!

Muzan moved the letter a bit, her expression returning to calm. She turned her gaze to Biwa Demon with a cold look.

"Forget what you just saw!"

"Yes!"

Indeed, it must be a crucial secret! Biwa Demon immediately manipulated her own memory and forgot everything from the previous minute.

Muzan's mood was quite good as she picked up Kokushibou's letter.

It was delivered almost simultaneously with Teru's letter, and the content would definitely be similar, right?

"Hmm?" Muzan looked at the letter with a furrowed brow.
