Teru felt very lucky that after he time travelled to the Taisho period of Japan, he had such a beautiful wife. Although she appeared cold, her figure and face were perfect, surpassing even the most famous star. Pitifully, she seemed to suffer from a strange illness and couldn't be exposed to sunlight.
Teru turned his head to look at his wife in the room. She liked to wear kimonos with floral patterns, but wisteria was her least favorite, and she never wore clothes with that pattern. Her eyes were slightly red, giving her a unique beauty. Her long hair was coiled up behind her head, and her fair complexion and graceful neck. She looked perfect.
"What is it?" She felt Teru's gaze and asked coldly, tilting her head.
She enjoyed reading medical books and was currently sitting on the sofa reading, often speaking in classical language.
During the Taisho period, there was a clash between Western and Japanese cultures, giving rise to a unique cultural blend. Some people wore Western clothes, men in suits, and women holding Western umbrellas. Trains traversed through the fields. It was a peculiar era.
Teru, Teru Watanabe. He didn't have exact memory of what he was before he time travelled to Taisho period. A year ago, when he woke up, it turned out that he had time travelled to Taishou Era. He became the eldest son in a Japanese family which had gained the locals' praise through their medical practice. They had accumulated some wealth and were considered a prosperous family in the area.
"Reading with a coal lamp at night is not good for your eyes," Teru said kindly.
His wife's name was Muzan Kibutsuji, an unusual name, but she was recommended by a local matchmaker and was knowledgable and gentle.
"I can't concentrate during the day," Muzan Kibutsuji replied with her red eyes, in a nonchalant tone.
Teru didn't mind; she had always been this way.
"If you want to cure your condition of not being able to go out during the day, I'll do my best," Teru said with a smile. "That would be wonderful," Muzan Kibutsuji nodded gently.
Little did she know that after Teru time travelled, he gained access to a system.
He had acquired impressive medical skills from this system.
However, the system was a bit peculiar; as long as he stayed alive each day, he would be rewarded.
[You survived one day, achievement unlocked: "Mortal does not die to a BOSS," reward: Master-level medical skills]
[You survived two days, achievement unlocked: "You're stronger than the protagonist," reward: Master-level swordsmanship]
The most valuable rewards were the first two. The subsequent rewards were all strange things, like "You will never lose a spinning top battle". Teru demonstrated it to Muzan Kibutsuji, but she brushed it off.
Teru didn't know if it was malfunctioning; it always gave him such incredible rewards even though he didn't seem to do anything special.
Every evening, Teru would go out with Muzan Kibutsuji because she couldn't go out during the day. Today, the shops were still open, making it a bustling time. Teru held Muzan Kibutsuji's hand as they walked down the street.
Stolen novel; please report.
The streets were bustling, but Teru made sure no one bumped into his wife.
"Unnecessary," she glanced at him, indifferently.
Teru chuckled, patting his head.
"But you did well, I'll praise you a bit," Muzan Kibutsuji said casually.
"Thank you," Teru slightly bowed and led her to a more lively area. "By the way, Muzan, do you know what 'demons' are?" Teru asked, striking up a conversation.
He had never encountered demons before, but among his achievements, there was one titled "You're Stronger Than an Upper-Rank Demon." However, Teru didn't know what demons were. Could they be some kind of spirits?
Could it be like something from Tokyo Ghoul? That seemed ridiculous; this was reality. And can demons have titles like "Upper-Rank Demon"? Did demons even have vanity?
That would be cute, Teru thought.
"No, I haven't heard of such things," Muzan Kibutsuji replied after glancing at him, denying.
"That's a pity," Teru sighed.
"A pity?"
"If there were demons, I could protect you from them," Teru said, trying to look like a hero, waggling a finger in front of her.
"Ridiculous,"
"I'm serious," Teru laughed, poking her white and tender face. Muzan Kibutsuji swatted his hand away and continued walking.
Teru walked beside her, looking around. "Hmm?" Suddenly, he furrowed his brows. He had obtained an ability in the system, a range perception ability. Within this range, all living beings would appear as models in his mind, with hostile individuals marked out. Now, he felt a strong sense of enmity and anger.
It wasn't directed at him; it seemed to be aimed at someone next to him!
“You!”
A teenager in a black and green coat appeared before Teru. He had strange patterns on his forehead and earrings on his ears, carrying a small box on his back. His face was filled with anger.
Teru could sense his emotions through his ability.
He was a very gentle young man, and not just that, he had the power to put gentleness into practice. The calluses on his hands and the sword hung by his waist proved that he was a formidable swordsman. Although he still had a long way to go to achieve the strength as Teru, achieving such strength at a young age meant he must have undergone rigorous training.
"What's the matter, young man? It's not good to shout like this on the street," Teru said with a smile. Suddenly, he stopped and, with a glance behind him, he wasn't sure if it was his illusion, but he felt that Muzan had been staring at the young man's earrings and the patterns on his forehead just a moment ago, and her steps had slightly retreated. Was she scared?
Teru was puzzled.
"That... I'm sorry, but!" The teenager in the black and green coat was indeed gentle. Despite that he was angry, he fell at a loss when faced with Teru's goodwill. But soon his eyes turned to Muzan Kibutsuji, filled with boundless anger.
"Let's go," Muzan Kibutsuji pulled Teru and walked into the crowd.
"It seems that the young man has something urgent..." Teru scratched his head and said.
Suddenly, he was startled as he sensed someone collapse behind him. It was a young man, and it seemed that his neck had been slashed with a knife, and blood was flowing out.
So fast! Who did this?
The young man in the black and green coat? No, although it was just a glance, Teru knew that it couldn’t be him, and whatsoever his sword wasn't that fast.
Were there superpowers in this world?
"No matter where you hide, I will never let you go!" The young man was busy trying to save the young man, all the while shouting with his voice on the verge of breaking.
His voice was filled with anger and the pain.
"That young man seems to have been hurt. He got infuriated." Teru said to Muzan Kibutsuji.
"You can continue walking; I'm going home first," Muzan Kibutsuji suddenly said indifferently.
"Uh, so early?" Teru was puzzled.
Although it was almost midnight, she usually liked to stay out a little longer during the evening when she could come out.
Muzan Kibutsuji didn't reply and walked in the opposite direction.
"I'll buy you a gift!" Teru’s voice from behind.
Muzan Kibutsuji walked into a small alley.
"Oh, dear madam? Let’s have some fun, together..."
Two drunkards stumbled over, but those were the last words they could say. The red eyes stared at them. Their minds were crushed, turning into a mass of pulp.
Both of them were dead.
Muzan Kibutsuji wiped the blood off her fingers and snapped her fingers.
"Muzan sama!"
But the response she received was silence, leaving the kneeling men anxious.
Finally, she spoke.
"Why does he know about the existence of 'demons'? I explicitly said he shouldn't know!" Muzan's eyes were blazed with anger.
