Teru held up an enormous black umbrella, as if it were made for a giant. The umbrella's ribs had a radius of about three meters, the handle was of exceptional length, and the material of the canopy was specially designed to completely block out sunlight. The edges of the umbrella even had black gauze to prevent sunlight from refracting. Moreover, it had a telescopic function, so that it would be easier to navigate through narrow spaces.
Throughout the journey, Muzan smirked and gazed at Teru.
"This umbrella? Ah, I had it custom-made because you can't tolerate sunlight. Need to guarantee your safety, right?"
He stated matter-of-factly.
The Minamato residence was not far from the Watanabe family's. Soon, the couple arrived at the Minamato residence's entrance.
Minamato Asahi, the head of the Minamato family and Sayo's father, warmly welcomed them. He had a healthy flush on his face, radiating energy and good health.
"Doctor Watanabe, I'm truly grateful! Thanks to your medicine, my daughter's been feeling much better these past few days. The only issue is that she refuses to open the windows and see the sunlight." He spoke.
Teru responded with a polite smile. Perhaps it wasn't an improvement in her condition, but the complete invasion of the Demon genes into her body, huh?
"This is my wife, she’s a skilled medical practitioner as well." He introduced Muzan this way.
Minamato Asahi's expression turned serious, about to bow deeply, when Dr. Watanabe headed straight for the girl's chamber.
"No time to waste, let's start today's examination!" He declared.
An oval-shaped bottle that looked like a decoration sat in a corner of the corridor. Upon closer inspection, one could see several deformed, small hands extending from behind the bottom of the bottle.
Gyokko was so excited to meet Muzan here that the bottle trembled, but Muzan glared at him fiercely, immediately quelling Gyokko's movements. He began contemplating where he might have gone wrong, wondering why Muzan-sama looked so angry.
This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.
She sternly ordered Gyokko in her mind. After turning a corner and looking back, Gyokko had vanished, and only then did Muzan breathe a sigh of relief.
It had been a long time since she felt nervous. Although it wasn’t very likely that her husband, a mere human, would detect Gyokko, she didn't want to take even the slightest risk of him discovering the existence of Demons.
Teru discreetly cast his gaze at the bottle, sighing inwardly.
The door pushed open, cheerful voice of Minamato Sayo rang out from the room.
"Father! Dr. Watanabe?"
Hearing the sound of the door opening, Miss Sayo put down the book in her hands and greeted the visitors with a polite smile.
Her smile appeared warm under the illumination of the light. The only abnormality was that the curtains in the entire room were tightly drawn, not allowing a hint of sunlight to filter through, even though it was daytime.
After conducting the routine examination, Teru didn't say much. Instead, he produced some new powdered medicine and explained its usage to Minamato Asahi, all the while observing Muzan from the corner of his eye.
At that moment, a servant whispered something to Minamato Asahi, and the head of the Minamato family nodded slightly in response.
"Dr. Watanabe, would you mind having a private conversation with me?"
Teru stood up and followed Minamato Asahi to the Minamato residence's courtyard.
This was the season when wisteria were in full bloom. Coincidentally, the Minamato residence had a wisteria tree as well. Petals carried by the wind blanketed the roofs and the ground. Minamato Asahi caught one of the flying wisteria flowers in his hand, remaining silent for a long time.
On the other side, something peculiar was happening to Sayo, who was staying with Muzan.
She stared at Muzan, her face inexplicably flushed, and a strong sense of closeness welled up within her, as if the woman before her was a destined family member, a close friend, a lover, or the combination of all of these.
Muzan frowned as he faced the dazed Sayo. She was considering how to handle this girl who was about to transform into a Demon.
The Minamato family was a crucial piece in the plan. In fact, in Tokyo they took control of most security forces, and thus they were a pivotal force in the plan to eliminate the Demon Slayer Corps.
But this young girl happened to be his patient...
Muzan quietly withdrew all of Sayo's demon blood that flowed within her and reabsorbed it. After a moment, Minamato Sayo regained some clarity and looked at Muzan in surprise and puzzlement, before falling asleep due to fatigue.
She was the Demon King. To turn a demon that hadn't fully transformed back into a human was nothing but a piece of cake for her.
Teru and Sayo's father returned, one after the other.
"Within the span of a few days, she shall regain her health."
His countenance cleared, Teru smiled with relief.
