"Shut the fuck up, you keep on asking that. You know what I'll say it, it would take 10 hours to arrive from Great Adam City to Ascendancy City. With the power of my calculation, you woke us up at 7 AM in the morning, ate and rested for 30 minutes, went out of Great Adam City, 3 hours to get to the diner, and drive 4 hours now so it would take another 3 hours to arrive and our only drive here wants to rest and sleep because of that kind of posture, we might arrive there the next morning. "Wonder where the soldier and people from that car went" Jayden asked

I continued driving, the side roads suddenly got covered full of tall grass of corn. This is probably a farm, I continued driving.

I stopped as I saw a trail going to the farmhouse over yonder. There are bloodstains going towards the house.

"Want to loot?" I asked with curiousity

"What do you mean?" Jayden asked

All of us went outside the truck

"Bloodstains? Maybe it is connected from the military car" Jane said

That is a lot of blood flow, I could see a smoke behind the house. We followed the bloodstains to the house. We are at the porch, I turned the doorknob, the door opened, why is it not locked? I opened the door wide open, the blood trail still continued inside the house.

We went inside, there's room on the left and room on the right, on the other end is a door to the backyard and a window beside it. We went deeper inside, on the left is an old fashioned living room, the TV looks old, the sofa looks old, the antiques and others, there are bloodstains on the wall and on the floor.

Jayden, Glenn and Kristy just went inside the living room looking around. Jane and I continued walking, we went and took a peek at the entryway of the right room. We saw an old man sitting on a chair, it looked like a kitchen. The old man saw us and picked up his double barrel shotgun from his table.

"Hey! What do yer think you 2 doin here!?" The old man shouted while pointing his gun at us

"And do you know why I burn them?" The old man asked

"It's because they are the reason why my wife is dead! They came here with a bruised one and asked for some medical kits! My wife and I let them in! My wife treated the wounded which looked like a bite of a human! When I was just giving the others some coffee, the soldiers and civilians, we heard screams back to the kitchen, the one she is treating started biting her face! I shot him but it was too late, my wife died in my arms, loss of blood. I got angry and started shooting everybody in my house, they are just cannibals, came to my house and tried to eat us! Make a fire, burn them all for what they have done! Buried my lovely wife below the dirt. So tell me, how does this virus the president say, how does the virus spread? Or is this virus actually real"

"It... It spread by bites" I answered

"Anything else?" He asked

We shook our heads

"Sooooo... The people you have killed soldiers or not and instead to the one who killed your, ahem, do they have bites on their body?" Jayden asked

"No" he replied

We started to panic

The soldier and the old man fought on the wall, the soldier is tanking the shot he just got. He is trying his best to aim his pistol at the old man while the old man is preventing to get pointed at his pistol while he has his gun pointed to the side stomach of the soldier.

Another familiar shot headed, the soldier the nearly half of his body but still continued and tank the pain he pointed his pistol and shot the old man. The old man stopped moving and fell to the ground, soullessly. The soldier stumbled to the chair and fell to the ground, a bit revealed on his neck.

Around the bite and his face is full of purple veins we went to the kitchen and followed the soldier.

"It's... Okay, I am also infected and there's no cure, nothing to do but to die. "Oh, that hard headed soldier, I tried my best to stop him. Our car broke down just outside the bridge on Great Adam City, the infecteds are coming towards us walking. He said he will lure the infected back to the bridge, we shouted no but he continued. He started shooting upwards reeling the infected to him back to the bridge. We succesfuly get the car working and escaped because of his sacrifice, we didn't know what happened to him after but seeing him without the 5 of you gave me bad news, did he.... Die?"

I nodded

"We found him with a bite on his arm, the bridge is full of infecteds. He used his gun to reel the infected to him making us have time to escape, he also gave us his 3 guns" I replied

He smiled

"That's a, double assist huh? Say, I'm kind of sleepy right now, you said he gave you his guns? You know how to shoot?" He asked

"No" I repled

"That sounds bad but here take this, it has my name on it, Ivano also has his name on his gun if you haven't noticed" he said while handing me over his gun, some boxes of ammo and clips

I looked around the gun, I saw the name at the barrel of the gun, Hendrick Kent. The gun looks custom made and different from the gun Ivano gave.

"Take care of my gun if you want to make it last longer and remember, save ammo. Even in war and we have a rich country, us soldiers in war still ran out of ammo, and safe travels."

He took out his dog tag and handed it over to me and suddenly passed away.

Fuck, this is the second soldier I saw to die and even died in front of me, bot of them even sacrificed theirselves from us.

We nodded and spread out and started searching around. I am not going to loot the dead of soldiers outside the house without their consent. I stumbled upon a bedroom, probably the old man and his wife's bedroom.

I could find pictures of them on the table. There are a lot of trophies and medals on the cabinets. I saw a young boy just at my age and newly pictured. I picked it up and turned it around. There is a message written on it.

"We will soon visit ya there in Ascendancy City"

I put the picture in my pocket, I looked around, I found a beautiful good old fashioned lighter, out some books for the one who is interested to read and went outside, I met Glenn holding a welding tool and Jayden holding a cellophanes of fresh food.

"Let's go, the others I are waiting at the truck" Glenn said

I followed them back to the truck, there are new comfy blankets stored on the truck, maybe Kristy and Jane got it.

"So, we will be sleeping here tonight?" Jane asked

"Well"

I looked back at the cabin

"Let's get out of this cornfield or get away from that house, I don't want to see someone coming towards us at that cabin"
