I went back to the living room, my sister Jane, the same age as me, is on the sofa doing something with her phone. I went to the kitchen and opened some noodles for lunch.

Damn, thinking about college makes me think about the money to pay for our college. I should have quit school after finishing grade 10, I can earn all by using my knowledge on publishing novels, poets, making drawings or artworks, finding a job without completing school or some shit if they make us pay college but my father still let me go on. 

My father sent us money every week from abroad, he has to earn as much money as he can for our college. My mother, died from a virus 8 years ago, sigh, I missed my mother, and father from abroad.

I put the eggs in the cooking noodles and stir it. I waited for it to cook.

"Jane, food is ready!" I shouted 

"Okaaaaayyyy"

She jumped off the sofa and went here to the kitchen and took a seat. I prepared the noodles, rice and leftover meatloaf from the cabinet.

My phone is ringing, I went to the living room and picked up my phone from the sofa, it is Jayden.

"Yow bro, what do you wa-"

"Hey, are you watching the news right now?" He interrupted me

"What do you mean?" I asked while looking at the TV 

"Just watch it, it might be a new virus. School will be suspended again! Hell yeah!"

I took the remote and went to the news channel. There is a reporter with a mask on, and a guy walking strangely behind her, there is also a girl near him.

"Breaking news, in Gingerway street. Something's happening about this human, who looks dead and walks weird. People reported us about this to see about this phenomenon early so that we will report this early to you all if this is a new virus so that we will do the lockdown as early as possible to prevent it from spreading"

"What is wrong with you?" The girl asked while the guy was approaching her

They focused the camera on the guy and the girl.

"Madame, I think you should get away from him!" the reporter shouted

"Why!? Why would I be scared of a man!? I am a strong, independent woma-!"

*Scream*

The guy grabbed the girl, she pushed her to the ground and suddenly bit her face. Blood gooshed out.

"Cut the camera! Cut th-!"

*Psssshhhhh*

"Wait what the fuck! What the hell just happened!? Isn't Gingerway street just near you?" Jayden said

"Wait i'll go and see if it is real" I replied

"I'll be back Jane! I'm checking on something!" I shouted

"Okay"

I opened the door and ran towards the Gingerway street.

"Is it real!?" Jayden asked from the phone

"Bro, I just got out of my house"

I ran as fast as I could and went to a turn. The guy is biting the girl's face with a lot of blood on the road, there's also another guy trying to get the weird guy off the girl.

"Holy shit, it's actually real! Ah shit I'm about to throw up" I said to Jayden from the phone

I could hear running from my left and right, there are also people coming to see.

The weird dude turned around and jumped at the guy who was trying to get him off the girl and bit his neck.

"No, no no no! I am not watching this!" I said to Jayden and ran back home

"Is this even a virus or what!?" He replied

"I...I don't know! But someone should stop him!"

I closed the door and locked it

"Let's just say, we will go on a lockdown" I said to Jayden

I went to the kitchen and joined Jane to eat.

"Is there something happening?" Jane asked

"No, it's just nothing, there's just...happening on Gingerway street, maybe a new virus is going to happen" I replied

"Wait what?"

"I'll explain it later after finishing eating"

She nodded and continued eating

Damn, I'm about to throw up thinking about the scene. Why am I thinking about it while eating? I'll just fight it. We just continued eating, fighting not to think about the scene.

*Bang bang*

*Scream*

There's gunshots and screaming from a distant

"What was that?" Jane asked

"Holy shit! I think they killed the guy!" I said out loud

"What is really happening!?" She asked

"This is not a good time to explain it while eating" I replied

She continued eating, her face is full of curiousity. We ate until our plate was empty, outside is very quite, and suddenly, screams continued again.

"I'll go check outside" Jane said after cleaning our plates

I followed her to the door and looked, there were a lot of people running panicking. A guy ran past through our drive way while a different weird guy is chasing him. He stopped walking and look at us, his body is bloody and there's look like a bite is on his shoulder. Jane closed the door and locked it.

"Johnny!? Explain!" Jane shouted 

I explain to her what happened on the news and what I saw.

"It doesn't even sound like a virus, I mean virus kills people but this..... Isn't even normal at all!"

"Let's just stay in the house and be safe" I said to her

She nodded and walk past through me.

*Scratch scratch*

*Grrroooowwwwwllll*

"Hey! What are you doing!? You're destroying our door" I shouted at the door

*Groooowwwllll*

"Just talk and leave us alone!" I shouted again 

*Grooooowwwwwwllllll*

*Scratch scratch*

"Hey, we don't want to open the door for you! Why do you want to spread the virus!?" Jane asked

*Groooowlllll*

*Scratch scratch*

"Let's just ignore him, he might get bored and go away, use your headphones" I said to Jane

Jane went to the sofa and use her headphone. I called Jayden while going to the laundry room and take our clothes out.

"Jayden, it spread fast! A lot of people are screaming outside our house and another weird dude, looks dead, a blood on his body, and looks like a bite on his shoulder. He is literally scratching our door, we tried to stop him but he just don't talk, he just growled and continued scratching"

"What the fuck? That's weird, just be careful okay" he replied

"Yeah, thanks, soooooo, it still didn't spread on your neighborhood?" I asked

"No, wait, are you wishing the virus to get me? Bro? I'm literally on the street going to the store to buy chips and freaking out what is happening" He replied

"No no no, I'm just.....curious how fast this thing spread"

"Yeah, I'll be curious too, I'll call you again for news"he said an hang up

I put the clothes on the laundry basket and went back to the living room. The scratching stopped and no growls can be heard outside.

"Jane, the noise stopped" I said to her

She took of her headphones and continued watching.

I approached the door and opened it to look outside, there's blood on the streets. There are people, eating other people with their mouth and hands. What the fuck are this people doing!? The people turned their heads looking at me, their face are pale and mouth are bloodied, bodies bloodied. They stood up and started walking towards me I closed the door and locked it.

"Uuuhhhh, uuuhhhhh Jane, I think we have a problem!" I shouted 

"What?" She said and stood up

I walk back away from the door, there's a lot of scratching, banging, and growling from the door.

"What are we going to do? Asked them to go away!" Jane asked

"They don't even look like listening!" I replied

*Crack lingi ling*

"They destroyed the porch window!" Jane yelled

I looked around to look for a weapon, a broom, yeah. I took the broom and waited for them. They climbed the broken window with some shard still on it, they crawled inside, they don't look hurt while the shards are is slicing their body.

"Johnny! Do something" Jane yelled

I approached them and hit them with the broom

"Hey, you all know you guys are trespassing and destroying our property and we have the rights to defend our property!" I yelled at them

They continued growling and stood up

"Just kill them with something sharp!" Jane shouted

"We have the rights to protect our property but we have no rights to kill them!" I said to Jane while backing away from them 

"We have no choice! They also killed people!" 

Jane is pressuring me, but she's right, we have no choice. I ran to the kitchen and took out the machete from the from below the sink. I ran back to the weirdos and slash one of them on the neck. Ewwwww, their blood gooed out. I slashed him again on the neck, the head came off.

"I think I'm about to throw up!" I shouted

"Watch out! On your left" Jane shouted

I looked to the left, one of them is near me. I raised my machete out of panick to defend myself. It raised his head ready to bit me but his mount went to the sharp of the machete, making a slice on his mouth, it made his mouth bigger. 

"Shit! Shit! Shit!" 

I pushed him away and sliced where the damaged part is, making it easy to slice his upper head off. I kicked the incoming woman to the door and stabbed her forehead, I didn't realize one is on my right and bashing him on the wall. I took out the machete from the woman's forehead and did a slice on his face. I kicked the woman's head and hold it to make her head stay the door and cut the other guy's head off.

Last one is the woman, I let go of her head and sliced her head off. I panted and panted, I could hear Jane throwing up from the bathroom.

*Riiinnggg* *riiiiinngggg*

My phone rang, I took out my phone from my pocket, it was Jayden.

"Hello?"

"Holy shit! They are here already! They are so different, pale and bloodied out! I am running as fast as I could back at my apartment" he replied with a running voice

"Man, literally killed 4 of them"

"Wait what? Is that even legal?"

"They literally broke into our house! I have no choice, just be safe going back home! I really don't know what is happening!" 

"Uhhhh, Johnny, I have a big problem" Jayden said, I could hear him stop

"Hey, is everything okay?" I asked

"There's lots more of them back home!" He replied

"They are already around the city!?" Fuck, just looked around you for and escape route, we will join you if we have the chance, I don't want to stay here"

"Okay, I found one, I'll call you later, the phone is making me hard to move" 

"Okay, we will meet in front of school, you know? The highschool we just left off" I said to him and hang up

"Jane, we are leaving!" I shouted while she is wiping her mouth from the sink

"Are you crazy!? Look what they are doing to the people!" She replied

"I don't want to live here! Look what they did to the window! And look at this bodies! I don't want to carry this bodies out! And of course we want to go to a much safer place!" I replied 

She understood what I said

"We will pack our bags up with clothes and foods and take the other machete from the cabinet below the sink" I instructed her

We went upstairs and went to our room, I packed my important things, clothes, and some money. I took the other bag and went downstairs to pack the unopened canned foods.

Jane came downstairs, took some of his valuable things and took the machete. I held my machete on my right hand and the bag full of food on my left hand.

"You ready?" I asked Jane

She nodded, we went to the door and opened it. 

*Bang* 

A loud explosion came from a tall building just 4 blocks away, it looks like something is coming towards us.

"Get down!"

I pulled Jane down and took cover.

*Crack*

I opened my eyes, one of the building's steel destroyed the top of the door and landed on the stairs.

"You see what I said? We have to leave!" I said to Jane

We started running and look around, to the left street, we saw a guy getting bit by a human, I ran towards them and kick the human on top and slashed his neck off.

"Are you okay?" Jane asked the man 

There is a big wound 1/4 of his neck.

"Take this keys for the truck and escape! I don't know what is happening in this city and please, put me out of my misery! I-I want this pain away!" The man replied

The wound, doesn't feel like healable at all. I raised my machete, wait, my body move on it's own, out of pity.

"Please! Do it fast!" The man yelled

"Jane, please, look away" I said to Jane

Jane looked behind him and closed her ears, I closed my eyes and slashed the man's neck off, it was a clean cut. The head of the man rolled. I am about to throw up but my stomach is holding it off.

I took the keys from the man's hand and went to the truck nearby and unlocked the door. I unlocked the other door for Jane to enter. I put the keys on the slot and turned it on.

"Okay okay, how to make this go?" I said while looking at the 3 pedals below me

"Please, drive safely" Jane said

I started to experiment the pedals and what my father teach me, my father teached me a little bit about cars and peddaling. This one is forward, brake, and the third is I think you should step on it too while kicking the forward pedal to prevent from destroying the car. I took out my phone and called Jayden.

"Okay where are you now?" I asked

"I'm infront of the school of the school you mentioned, it looks peaceful, it's a good thing it's summer vacation, I don't want the students to be like them" he replied

"We are on the way now!" I replied and hang up 

I started pedalling forward on my way to the school, I could see a lot of people running and some people eating the bodies or walking. I avoid them as possible, it's getting peaceful and peaceful as we arrive the school. How do I forget? The school is not near to anyone's phone that's why. I am now near at the school, I saw Jayden outside the school. I stopped infront of him.

"Get in, now!" I shouted

He ran to the other side and entered, my sister gave space for him.

"Where to now?" He asked
