I Don't Want to be Evil, but You're Forcing me to be.
Chapter 2: Meeting the First Companion.

Chapter 2: Meeting the First Companion.

Ivan has been wandering around the sewers for a few hours now, unfortunately he has no idea where he is heading. He picked a direction and started walking until there was an exit that lead out of the city.

A rat scurries past Ivan with a quick pace while squeaking loudly. Surprisingly, this is the only life Ivan has seen since he had entered the sewers. On top of that, they are cleaner than he thought they would be.

A simple, yet smelly stream flows in the same direction as Ivan is walking. Everything else is made of grey stone that looks like it is cleaned regularly.

Ivan looks back to the rat that is already past him and he senses as if it is running from something.

Ivan turns back around and realizes that his suspicion was right. Ivan sees two bright golden eyes shining directly at him.

The golden eyes belong to what looks like a young girl who hasn’t eaten a meal in weeks. Her malnourished body is covered by only simple rags and the girls skin is deathly pale. Her white hair seems pure and is the only part of the girl that isn’t dirty or messy.

Realizing that Ivan has seen her, the girl hisses at Ivan and Ivan is able to recognize the fangs in the girls mouth and her sharp pointed ears.

She’s a vampire huh? Well looks like we are in the same boat.

Not feeling even an inkling of fear towards the girl in front of him, Ivan slowly and confidently walks towards the girl.

“Hello, my name is Ivan, what is yours little girl?” says Ivan with a soothing voice. The girl’s eyes look horrified and tries to move her body to get away from the beast in front of her. Once again, Ivan’s aura is causing only problems and misunderstandings.

Ivan sighs as he notices the fear coming from the girl, causing him to scratch his head in confusion.

Am I really that scary or ugly? I would look in a mirror but I doubt that’d help.

Ivan stops walking towards the girl and crouches to get eye level with the girl. The girl is shaking from the gaze of Ivan. Ivan tries to appeal to the girl with his rough and heavy voice.

“Hey, I promise I’m not trying to hurt you. I only want to talk to you. Let’s ask some questions to get to know each other.”

Ivan looks for a change in the girls demeanor and wait for a response but nothing about the girl changes.

“Alright, I will go first. Can you understand me?”

The girl is silent for a while before she manages to nod yes, implying that she can understand what Ivan is saying.

Yes! We are getting somewhere!

“Amazing, now for another question. Can you speak?

Once again the girl is silent for a little bit before nodding her head yes again. Her shaking has gone down a little but is still prominent.

Ivan chuckles and smiles at the progress he is making with his first real conversation in this new realm. After seeing Ivan genuinely happy from her answering, the girl starts to calm down a little and she no longer has the face of someone who thinks they are about to die.

“Okay, next question. What is your name?”

The girl thinks for a while, as if she is truly having a hard time remembering her name. A small and delicate voice comes from within the girl.

“I… I’ve never had a name.”

Ivan’s heart skips a beat at the adorable voice of the little girl but his heart is quickly broken after hearing this poor girl never got a name.

“Do you want a name little girl?”

Ivan asked as living without a name isn’t a way to live at all. He would happily give the poor girl a name.

The girls eyes shine brightly and her face has changed from that of being scared to that of having a glimpse of hope.

“You’d be willing to sacrifice a bit of yourself to give me a name?!”

The girl is nearly screaming in excitement. Ivan then remembers a crucial fact that he had nearly forgotten.

That’s right, Vampires are classified as monsters by this realms standards so to give them a name is a big deal. I have to sacrifice a bit of my power to be able to give her a name she can actually use. If not, she is just a lowly monster that will be forgotten by everyone in history.

Ivan doesn’t even think about whether he should do it or not and immediately decides that he will give the poor girl a name and take care of her until she is ready to go out on her own.

“Yes I am, Elizabeth.”

As Ivan speaks out to the girl with a newly donned name, he can feel a bit of his soul be cut off and thrust away towards the girl. To Ivan’s surprise, the bit of soul was extremely tiny and was healed in an instant.

The girls body quickly and easily accepts part of Ivan’s soul and her new name.

In the eyes of the girl, the blood red moon-like aura around Ivan that was once frightening her now is a loving and kind aura. It is aura that is inviting Elizabeth in to be held and accepted for what she is.

Without missing a beat, the small and skinny girl runs towards Ivan crying and hugs his large chest while he is crouched.

Ivan laughs joyously and hugs the small girl back. Surprisingly, the girl is warm, which is out of the expectations of Ivan since he thought that vampires were as cold as the dead.

Elizabeth has joined your party. Check her info?

Sure.

Ivan didn’t expect to be able to check the girls info or even that there was something as formal as joining a party for the laws of this world.

Ivan is surprised when he sees Elizabeth’s class.

So she is the daughter of a human and vampire, making her a Dhampir and not a Vampire. That would explain why she is slightly warm and also doesn’t have all the skills a stereotypical vampire would have. Well doesn’t matter anyways, she is in my care now.

Ivan takes Elizabeth out of his embrace and brings his face close to hers, looking into her eyes.

“We are friends from now on, so let’s take care of each other. Okay?”

Elizabeth beams a smile and giggles at the warm way she is being treated. Elizabeth was never treated like this and her long lost childish side is now spilling out with the new discovery of a father figure in her eyes.

“Okay!” says Elizabeth with an enthusiastic yell.

Now the journey of the two ‘monsters of the night’ starts as Elizabeth knows a way out of the sewers and out of the city. The two converse as they travel out of the sewers and it is not long before the light from the moon in the sky is cast down upon the two.

Being outside, Elizabeth informs Ivan that she knows about a place where monsters like them stay at, like a town for evil creatures.

With that being said, Ivan follows Elizabeth to the dark town of Blightwood.
