He waited as I sat down again.
“You have noticed that the cottage you are staying in has multiple floors,” He asks eagerly.
“Yes, I was going to ask you about that. I figured that the place belonged to an Alvair correct? And that he was a mage of some type?”
“Yes, the tower belonged to Rogul he was an Alvair mage of the high order. He was the one who told me of the curse. He had come here in his shame of what the Alvair had done. He lived out the rest of his life in exile here in my glade. He died over a thousand arcs ago, though it might have been longer time is different for me.” His tone saddens when he talks about his friend. “He said it was my duty to pass along the tower and the knowledge it contained. He said I would know when the right person came along. I believe you are the right one to have it.”
I am overwhelmed by the gift but I don’t know how I will transport it I do not have nearly the amount of storage needed to move something like that. My concern must show on my face.
“Ah, don’t worry my young friend the tower is an item. One that Rogul found himself it was a relic of the first ones. Once you bind it to yourself you will be able to carry it with no issues. It also has many other features that are currently dormant.” He says happily. “I also have more to teach you. It is not generally spoken of but beasts are not the only ones who have evolutions. The races also can improve as well.” I can tell he is watching my response to this knowledge. When I don’t react, he starts again. “Ah, so you have had some experience with this already may I ask what has happened?”
I can tell by the way he asks that this is a sensitive subject but I see no issues here.
“Yes, once I hit one hundred in all of my base stats my racial bonuses all improved. The bonus I got to my physical stats, and my regeneration increased. I had been wanting to ask about this because I am close to hitting another milestone and I wonder if it would happen again.”
If his face could show shock, I am sure that’s what I would see. “That explains much young one how you have been able to survive for so long. I had equated it to your remarkable equipment. But it was not just that. I can see it now. Most beings that are not beasts have a hard time transitioning stages. Even beasts in the higher tiers require inspiration. Like the information you gave me to make it to the upper tiers.” He pauses to think.
“It must be a function of your status as a traveler. If I may ask may I see your status, this is not a request I make lightly but it will help me figure out the best way to assist you” he asked seriously. The change in his tone and the lack of joviality let me know this was a serious ask.
“I will allow it but, your change of tone has me concerned. Is seeing someone else’s status a big deal?”
“Yes, young Van. Someone who has seen your status has access to many things they can do to you. It is advised to only allow those you trust implicitly to view your screens. Even then in those cases, it is best to have a sworn oath from that person to never disclose what they have seen. I will take that oath with you as well.” He is very solemn when he speaks so I can tell he is very serious. I am also confused about what good an oath will serve my confusion must show.
“I forget that since you are new here things that are natural to us require some explanation. If someone swears an oath here it is enforced by the system itself. I swear an oath to never talk about your status my status will enforce that oath” he says his voice low, and deadly serious.
The entity Devine Guardian Avatar has requested to share statuses. This request comes with a binding oath that neither party will discuss what they see with a party outside of the two parties of this transaction without the approval of the other party. This exchange will also not show any information that would be detrimental to the status holder such as the number of hidden statuses, or true names if known. Any breach of oath will result in severe penalties. Do you agree to this exchange Y/N?
I was expecting the request for him to look at my status. I was not expecting to be able to look at his as well. I wanted to see what a true being of this world status looked like. I accepted the terms and was greeted with his status as he reviewed mine.

The first thing I noticed was the massive amounts of HP and stamina. He would definitely qualify as a field boss. I also noticed that one of his boons added ten times boost to his pools and spell effects while he was in the glade. The same boon reduced them to one-tenth of that if he were to leave the glade. It explained why he did not go deal with that issue himself. I was also amazed at the limited number of skills I would have figured that being as old as he was would have hundreds of skills. But I guess being a tree he did not need that many skills. The more I thought about it he probably had more skills these were just the ones that translated over. He probably had numerous plant-related skills that I would know nothing about.
While it was looking at his health and spells. I almost missed the fact that he had a luck score. As soon as I realized that I was hit with a large notification.
Secret Attribute unlocked LUCK (LCK)! Luck is one of the hidden attributes. The only way to unlock the luck attribute is to commune with one who has done so. Or to find a relic that affects the luck stat. Unlocking luck also reveals any hidden boons. Luck-based boon will remain hidden from the user until the luck attribute is unlocked. Unlike other attributes, luck cannot be manually increased. Hidden Boons: Blessed Son, Cosmic Luck 2.
Shit, so luck is a real thing here I had been wondering about that. I had also been thinking about my luck falling into a portal arriving here. I wondered if my luck was low, but seeing two boons and triple digits I wondered if that was good or bad. The guardian was still looking over my status. I wanted to see what those boons meant.
Blessed Son:
You were blessed as a child by someone with a high luck score. When this party passed part of their luck score was passed on to you. +25 LCK.
Cosmic Luck 2:
You were forcibly transported across the void. The cosmos recognizes this fact and to improve your chances of survival you have been granted a measure of luck. You will find that having a high luck score does not mean bad things will not happen to you or around you. A high luck score just means that if you happen to survive an event that the results will be positive for you. It also means that if an event can have a positive or negative outcome you will more like end up with the positive outcome. +75 LCK.
The explanation of the second boon helped, but I had even more questions. The guardian was done now and staring at me intensely. I exited out of my status, and before I could start to ask questions he started speaking.
“I know what you found and what you might want to ask. I must caution you that even though you have discovered that, and you have questions. Those of us who know about it only speak about it in the abstract. It is a fickle thing and can change with the wind” he says sternly. “I know what you want to ask, but if you think about it will all make sense.”
When he says that I start to think. He is right little things like arriving in a safe cave. I could have arrived in the middle of the forest and fallen into a spider web. Everything that I have made is with me. Hell, the fact that it all converted into something close to what I was pretending it was. That would all be luck. Like it said it would not keep bad things from happening. But everything I had survived I came out of it better than when I started. That was my luck stat at work or part of it at least.
“Thank you for this trust, my young friend it will show me how to help you for all that you have done for me,” he said jovially.
“Where I am from friends don’t count favors,” I said jokingly.
He looked at me seriously “Yes, but here the fates do! The things you have done here have shifted the balance here. I must balance the scales or face severe repercussions.”
I can tell he is deadly serious. His tone leads me to believe that it is not me that he is worried about. From what he said there is some higher power that regulates these things. It was them who dictated the rewards that must be granted for the acts.
“I can see that you have worked some of it out for yourself. No one knows for sure but there is something that oversees us all. Even the gods of this realm. It is what generates the notifications and the quests. It also gives out the titles and boons. From what I saw it has given you multiple titles for your deeds. That means that it found your deeds to be quite significant, even more than I had initially. If had not shown you the correct amount of appreciation, I would face some terrible calamity. So, I must ask that you take everything I offer if not for your own good but mine as well.” He walks back over the tree and waves his hands at the fruit. He also leans in and touches his head to the base of the tree.
