In the comfort of his room, while examining the pages of the Death Note, Light suddenly closed the notebook.
Light pondered inwardly, 'Could the Death Note kill me?'
[10 Destiny Points for this information.]
The cold, emotionless voice of the system followed shortly after.
'Understood.' Light acknowledged the price to pay.
[The Death Note is capable of killing Level 1 and 2 Existences]
Hearing this, Light squinted his eyes and then quickly opened them. There was an odd gleam in his brown eyes at that moment.
From what he gathered through the system, the Level of Existence is linked to the inherent talent of the species.
Humans rarely exceed Level 1 Existence upon birth. Only a few are born at Level 2, and one in every million is born as a Level 3 Existence.
Pure Blood Devils, on the other hand, start at least as Level 3 Existences, possessing between 80 and 159 in Physical, Magical, and Spiritual Power.
Of course, the Level of Existence doesn't solely determine who is stronger. For instance, he possesses the strength of a Level 4 Existence, even if he's just at the beginning of the power scale of that category, since such existences are born with at least 160 power and have a much greater capacity to amplify their strength compared to a Level 1 Existence.
With this knowledge in mind, Light chose not to advance his level of existence for the time being.
'Becoming a Reincarnated Devil would also raise my Level of Existence, right?' Light inquired.
[Yes.]
This clarified many doubts for him.
"Heh, from what I could sense with my Haki, Issei only reached Level 2 of Existence. He's nowhere near becoming a Level 3 Existence." Light murmured to himself disdainfully.
Issei's natural potential was inferior to many humans. Even after his reincarnation as a devil, he still seemed less powerful than many of his original species.
"Nico Nico Nii... Nico! Nico Nico Nii, Nicooo...!"
Feeling the vibration of the phone and hearing the unusual remixed ringtone, Light picked it up, identifying a call from Utaha Kasumigaoka.
"Hello?" Light answered, "Did you change my phone's ringtone?"
"Hahaha, what do you think?" Utaha's laughter sounded amused in Light's ear. She continued, "Are you free by any chance right now?"
"Yes, I am." Light confirmed, adding, "I'll be resetting the ringtone."
"Don't do that!" Utaha's voice sounded a bit louder, and she quickly added, "That's the special ringtone for when I call. Isn't it fun?"
"I'm in the supermarket, everyone heard." Light lied.
"Really? Hahaha, that's hilarious~"
Hearing her laughter, a mischievous smile appeared on Light's face.
"It was a lie, I'm at home." Light revealed.
"Ugh, seriously..." She sounded disappointed. "You got me, Mr. Deceiver."

"It's Light."
"Mr. Deceiver." She insisted, ignoring his correction. "I'm at the coffee shop near the station close to your house. I'll give you 10 minutes to get here."
"Alright, alright." Light agreed. "Hold on, I'm on my way."
After hanging up the call, he stored the Death Note in his ability,
He changed clothes quickly and left his room.
"Light, where are you going?" His mother asked.
Finishing putting on his shoes, he turned around.
"I'm meeting up with a friend." He said. "I'll be back later."

Light entered the coffee shop, drawing attention. Dressed sophisticatedly, his brown hair hid intense eyes. His slightly open white shirt revealed a necklace, and the dark blazer outlined his shape. With a confident and mysterious demeanor, he radiated attraction.
"Light-san!" Utaha called.
Upon noticing the beautiful girl waving at Light, several women let out wistful sighs.
On the other hand, some guys showed disappointment upon realizing that the beautiful girl, who was sitting alone, was indeed waiting for the young man who had just arrived.
"Dai, you missed your chance."
Dai Mitarai has wavy brown hair that slightly falls over his forehead. He has big and expressive brown eyes. His face has an unpleasant expression and he has clear skin. He's wearing a blue shirt with pockets on the chest and a dark shirt underneath.
"Tsk." Grumbled the boy named Dai Mitarai. "So she wasn't lying when she said she was waiting for her boyfriend..."
"Hahaha!"
Noticing Dai's evident discontent, the other three friends with him burst into laughter.
Light, meanwhile, approached Utaha and gracefully pulled out a chair to sit across from her.
"Did I make you wait long?" Light asked with a smile.
"Actually, you were quite punctual, Mr. Deceiver~" Utaha responded playfully.
With a smile, Light complimented her, seemingly oblivious to the frequent glances from the youths near their table.
"I must say, you look as elegant as I remember and even more radiant."
Utaha has long black hair and enigmatic red eyes, adorned with a white band on her head. Wearing a pink blouse, a beige coat, navy blue skirt, dark stockings, and white shoes, she exudes unassuming sophistication.
Utaha turned her gaze to Light and said softly, "Mr. Deceiver, your words are so flattering~!"
Even though Light's remarks were a bit bold, she wasn't displeased.
Tomoya Aki's intentions were clear to her, so no matter what Light said now, his words would surely sound sweeter to her.
Light then looked at the next table and asked, "Are these your friends?"
Utaha said with indifference cold, "I don't know those guys. And the one with the wavy brown hair was bothering me. They even followed me here."
"So, you called me to drive them away?" Light inquired. "Do you want me to deal with them?"
"You don't need to be that drastic." She whispered, and though she kept a neutral expression, her cheeks turned pink. "I just want you to pretend to be my boyfriend for a while."
"If it pleases you, we can make that a reality." He winked at her, jesting.
"... Are you spouting nonsense again?" Utaha grew even redder. Trying to keep her composure, she teased, "Are you sure you can play like this with me? Wouldn't your girlfriend mind?"
"Actually, I don't have a girlfriend," Light said, holding his shoulders up.
"Ohh... I see..." Utaha murmured, almost inaudibly. "So, you're single..."
She lowered her head, absentmindedly playing with the spoon in her glass. A small smile graced her face.

Light noticed a new notification popping up before his eyes. Although his face maintained a serene smile, internally he was laughing.
Seeing the waitress approach their table, Light requested, "Hi, I'd like a coffee with no sugar, please."
"Certainly, sir," she replied, noting down the order.
Utaha, raising her head, added, "And also two slices of cake, please." Looking at Light, she asked, "Do you like strawberry cake?"
"That's fine," Light agreed.
"Then, two slices of strawberry cake," she confirmed. "Oh, and a cappuccino as well."
"Understood," the waitress concluded her notes and walked away.
"Hey, Mr. Deceiver."
"What is it, Miss Third Place?"
Hearing Light's response, Utaha pursed her lips.
Taking a deep breath, she proposed, "Light-san, how about we go to the mall afterward?"
"Is this related to your writing career?" Seeing her nod in agreement, Light inquired, "So, the idea is to pretend to be a couple as we walk around the mall?"
"You really don't hold back, do you?" She looked away, a blush staining her cheeks. "Yes, that's precisely it. I don't have experience in this regard, and even though I can base it on what I've read, I want to feel the experience firsthand."
As she spoke, a smile formed on Light's handsome face, highlighting his elegance.
Light's graceful and captivating demeanor caught Utaha's attention, who quickly averted her gaze, using her hand to fan herself.
"It's pretty warm today, isn't it?" she remarked.
A subtle smile deepened on Light's face as he observed the young woman in front of him.
"Indeed," Light agreed.
