Prologue 2- The 'Demon' turned 'Savior'

AN- Second part of the prologue here, with a different POV. Hope you guys like it. Btw i will try to finish the next chapter in this week, no promises though.  I'm writing this story just for fun, so i don't really know how it'll turn out. I have the basic layout of the story, now just some deep thinking left. Anyways enjoy~~~

POV- Katherine

“Did you watch that drama show last night? It is such a waste that the main character’s brother had to die.”, said a girl with average looks with a bubbly personality.

“Not really Jane, and I know you only care about him cause of his looks.”

The voice was that of a beautiful girl, with shiny black hair, and blue eyes.

“muu, so what Katty! It’s not like there are any good looking guys in our class. I just want something to soothe my eyes, but they just had to kill the most handsome..” before she could indulge herself into her fantasies, the classroom door opened, and in-came the most feared guy. The whole class went silent.

Katherine, whose back was to the door, looked skeptically at Jane who had her mouth open with wide eyes, but she didn’t say anything.

“Earth to Jane! Earth to Jane!” Katherine said mischievously, but when she got no response to her amusing act, she looked back to where her friend was looking at.

She moved back a little seeing the tall figure of the boy who was feared as the demon. But the boy moved towards his seat without paying any mind to the quiet onlookers. Getting on his seat, he just started staring outside looking at the sky in deep thought.

“Hey, look at that attitude, like he’s some kind of gang boss.” Jane whispered to Katherine, as the rest of the class also started making little noises.

Shaking her head, a little, Katherine thought for a while how the whole demon thing started.

-------- Flash Back -----

It was the first day of the school, and students had just started coming into the class room. Katherine and Jane who were childhood friends were already sitting on their seats near the front of the room.

The rest of the class was also talking among themselves, except for the corner seat near the window. There was a boy sitting there looking outside, his eyes covered mostly by his black hair.

It was like an aura was coming from him, “Don’t talk to me.” But to their worries, a delinquent looking student made to his seat while looking down at him.

He kicked the boy’s desk away, while saying, “I heard you took care of my friends. Huh!!”

He said the last words almost yelling, but the boy in question just made a clicking sound with his tongue, and looked up to his face.

Everyone in the class could look at the eyes that made them shiver, and even the senior that didn’t belong in their classroom moved a little back.

“You think..You can scare me you little shit!!” as the upperclassman said that with a shaking voice, he moved to punch the sitting boy.

Everyone closed their eyes, expecting their classmate, only in name, to get a bloody nose. But when they opened their eyes, they got shocked watching the boy easily stopping the punch with his right hand while his left land was still in his pocket.

“Leave me alone”, the boy said while releasing the other guys’ hand.

Looking nervously at his hand, the delinquent heard the whispers from the surrounding students. Not wanting to let a first year student to make him look pathetic, he swung his fist again at the boy.

But Ash moved downwards avoiding the punch, and pushing himself up while delivering an upper hook right to the face.

The whole crowd was left astonished watching a scene from a movie where a guy gets airborne for a few seconds with a punch right before their eyes.

As the big guy hit the floor with a thud, the guys that were watching from outside with bandages on their whole bodies, quickly went in and retrieved their boss while quivering in fear.

As the guy was dragged outside the classroom from his legs, the whole class looked from the closing door to the guy that sat at the end while staring outside the window like the whole thing just didn’t relate to him.

From that point, Ash was known as the demon not only from his looks but also from his fighting ability.

------ Flash-Back end----------

Katherine came back to her senses, as Jane waved her hand in front her face, “Are you lagging?”

Katty just puffed her cheeks. But soon relaxed as her friends always teased her, as they knew she would forgive them due to her kind nature.

As the teacher came in, she got her books out, and started listening while noting the important bits.

Soon the bell rung indicating the lunch break.

“Hey katty lets go to the cafeteria, I forgot to bring my lunch.”, her friend Jane said quickly making an apologizing but carefree face.

“We can share my lunch.” Katty said bringing out her own lunchbox from the bag.

“No way I can fill my stomach with those green weird looking things.” Jane scrunched up her nose as she her friends lunch box.

“Hey!! It’s broccoli and it’s good for your health. You can go alone if you want to but stop eating always from outside, you’ll get fat.” Katty said the forbidden word, yes, ‘fat’.

Jane went down to her while covering face making small sobbing sounds, “I knew you would leave me just because I gained a little weight. Farewell my love.”

Watching her friend like this, Katherine moved to side, while apologizing, “I’m sorry Jane, I didn’t mean it like that. Let’s go together to the cafeteria, I’ll treat you.”

“hehehe..got you!”, Jane made giggling sounds as she uncovered her face showing no signs of tears, “You always fall for my act.”

“Arghh.. why do you always have to tease me!!” Katty quickly jumped back on to her feet while helping her friend up.

“It’s cause you’re too pure.” Jane replied flashing a grin, “Now let’s go to the cafeteria my princess.”

“Stop calling me that.” Katty said annoyed, but didn’t mind that much. As they were making their way to the door, while chit-chatting, Katty suddenly bumped into someone.

As she fell on her butt, it hurt a little, she made a squeaking noise,”kyaa!”

While rubbing her butt, she tried to look up to the one who made her fall. But before her stood the so-called demon looking down at her.

She shivered a bit. She saw him extending his hand while bending a little bit, but when she saw his smiling face, her face lost its color.

Looking pale like a leaf, she placed her arms around her chest while making another squealing sound.

To her rescue came someone she would rather stay away from. The popular guy, and the flirty type. Blake tried to punch Ash, but Ash just tilted his head, and looked at him like he was crazy.

Then he made past Blake by pushing him a little out of the way, but Blake fumbled around like a rag-doll crashing into the desks.

And then Katty heard Ash’s low voice, “Don’t get in my way next time.”

Jane watching her friend on the ground, quickly came to help her up as Ash left the room.

“God that was scary, I couldn’t even move.” Jane said looking at her friend who had a quizzical look on her face.

“What happened Katty? Don’t tell me he touched you somewhere?” hearing that question, Katty got out of her stupor hurriedly retorting,

“No,….no he didn’t.” she said the last part slowly.

Eyeing her friend, Jane said joyfully, “At least you didn’t get hurt, let’s go.” Leaving behind the ‘prince charming’ in his dreams squirming around hugging a desk with a happy look on his face.

…..

While they sat down on a cafeteria table after purchasing their lunch, Jane suddenly started a topic, “Still that guy didn’t even say sorry for bumping into, well not like I expected him to.”

Looking at her lunch, Katty remained silent while thinking over the instance. ‘He was definitely trying to do something…….wait don’t tell me…oh no..I’m such an idiot.’

‘He was jut trying to help me up, wasn’t he?’, as she thought that, she felt low for herself. ‘I’ll try to apologize to him for the misunderstanding.’

Jane while eating her bread, said “Is there a handsome guy in your soup bowl that you’re looking at it so intently?”

“Sigh…the only thing in your head is ‘handsome guys’.” Katty said while shaking her head.

“Hey that’s rude! I also think about other things like……. food?” Jane said skeptically while holding her index onto her chin and moving her eyes upwards.

“……..” Katty just watched empathetically.

“Don’t look at me with those eyes or I’l cry.” Jane said while faking her tears.

As they made their way back into the classroom after eating their lunch, Katty looked around the class to search for the face that could stop a baby from crying with just a smile, but in return take some years off the poor little child’s life.

Jane watching from sideways, “What is it? Lost something?” While still stuffing her mouth with another cream roll.

“No, just…nevermind.” Looking a little puzzled at the reluctantly answering Katty, Jane just shrugged, and moved back to her seat.

………

‘In the end, Ash didn’t come back to the class after lunch.’ Katty sighed as she walked to a nice looking house.

Ringing the door bell, she heard a female voice muffled by the door, “Wait a minute.”

After a couple of seconds, the door opened, showing a middle aged woman carrying a tiny toddler in her arms.

Katty smiled looking at both of them before greeting, “Hi auntie, hi Abby I’m here for my piano lessons again.”

The woman also smiled ushering for Katty to come in. As she walked inside the house, the woman let the toddler down who ran away quickly making her way to the upper floor.

“Don’t run on the stairs!!!” The woman yelled after the little bundle of energy who tried to skip her way.

“This child of mine…..sigh..”, turning back to the giggling Katty, “How’s your mother doing Katty?”

“She’s doing pretty well.” Katty replied to woman who was her mother’s sister.

“I never get the time now to meet her, even when we live in the same city. Well the good thing is that you can learn your piano lessons for free.” She said with a teasing smile.

“Auntie that’s not true! I look after Abby, and help you with the housework from time to time.”

“Yes, yes.. you’re a big help.” Katty smiled pleasingly at her aunt’s remarks.

“Now let’s start the practice without wasting any more time.” The woman motioned for her to the black piano placed diagonally at the corner of the room.

………

“It’s getting dark outside, let’s finish it here for today.”, the woman said looking outside the window.

Katty covered the lid on the piano keys, and thanked her aunt.

As she left the house, she heard her Aunt, “Stay safe.”

“I will!!”, she shouted back. Smiling she started walking back to her house which a was little far from her aunts.

As she was walking on the street, she saw a black car with black tinted windows following her at a slow speed. She turned around the corner, but the car did the same.

Panicking she started picking up her pace.

At night no soul could be seen on the more or less busy street, and the black car screeched coming to a stop in front of her just near an alley.

She turned in the opposite direction to run away. She knew that there was no way the people in the car would mean any good to her. But as soon she turned around she saw two men blocking her path with disgusting smiles on their faces.

She stepped back in fear, but bumped into someone. The guy smelled of alcohol and drugs. As she slowly turned her head, she saw lust oozing out of his whole body.

“Oh my Oh my little kitty~~~” he said in singing raspy voice while spreading his arms.

“Did you lose your way?” he approached her with a repugnant smile on his face.

The middle aged man continued on his own, “Don’t worry I’ll show you the way to heavenly pleasure.”

He grabbed her by her wrist, and tried to push her into the car. But she quickly hit him the face with the bag in her free hand.

Grabbing the bag from her hand, the guy looked in her eyes with anger, “You little bitch!”.

He suddenly grabbed her from her luscious black hair, and pulled her into the alley.

“I’ll just enjoy you here, and leave you for the homeless to rape you over and over again.”, he said laughing sinisterly.

While Katty could only cry for help.

“Save your voice for moaning little runt.”

Katty felt her end nearing. She knew what was coming for her, and she wished this was all a dream. But the pain from having her hair pulled was a definite sign that it was all a cruel reality.

But a miracle happened, the guy holding him from her hair turned backwards to look at the noises happening behind him.

In an instant he pulled her close to him, as she tried to squirm around to free herself from his grasp.

“Stop there brat or this girl gets the bullet.”, the man said while Katty wondered what had happened.

Looking up to her savior, she couldn’t comprehend for a minute for why he was here.

Ash was bleeding profusely out of his right arm, holding a gun in his left hand. Katty felt relieved but at the same time she worried for what was about to happen. She saw the other men laying on the ground, not moving.

But Ash slowly moved towards them.

“Throw the gun away!!”, the man yelled loudly near her ear, which made her flinch in fear.

“Didn’t you hear me!! I said throw the gun away and stay there, or she will be dead!!”, he yelled again but Ash didn’t stop at all.

Before Katty could say anything, the man pointed his gun quickly at Ash and shot three times. Ash threw his gun at the man’s face. When his grip loosened around Katty, she fell on her butt.

Before she could open her eyes she heard a cracking noise from her right side. Slowly moving her eyes, she saw the man’s head bent sideways.

She heard Ash’s voice, “Are you alright?”

She looked up to her savior, but her face lost its color. The boy was soaked in blood. His white jacket was turning more and more crimson.

Katty shook her head a little, and pointed with her hand at his chest.

When Ash saw where she was pointing at, he suddenly fell onto his knees. Kattly panicked, and rushed to his side. Trying to support the boy with her small body, she could only cry for help.

Katty felt helpless, her mind was in turmoil. The boy was slowly dying right before her eyes, yet she could only watch helplessly.

Ash took something out of his pocket. Katty saw it was small sized red box. He looked at it with his hazy eyes, and a peaceful expression. And after a few seconds, his head hung lifelessly.

Katty sat there for a minute not realizing what had happened, she slowly started shaking him. But after a few tries when she saw no movement, she took his head into her arms, and just sat there crying while apologizing to him for the earlier incident in the classroom.

The police arrived after some time. They were astonished to see that the young boy alone had suppressed 5 adult men that had weapons.

They asked katty a lot of questions, but all they got was a moan in response. Her eyes were filled with sorrow. Ash’s mother had come running to the scene while still wearing her work clothes.

The police tried to stop her, but when she saw her son kneeling on the ground without any light in his eyes, she pushed them aside and hugged her child.

But she didn’t get the hug back which she always got from her son. She slowly started speaking,

“Ash what’s wrong? Are you hurt anywhere?”, her mind had broken, she didn’t want to accept reality. She took her head into his hands and looked at his face, a light smile was on his face.

She just sat there while slowly shaking him, repeating, “Ash wake up, let’s go home.”

Watching the whole scene from far away, Katty felt her stomach churning. Her eyes grew blurry as tears rushed down her face. She quickly ran to Ash’s mother, and hugged her.

“I’m sorry this is my fault.” Katty said in between her sobbing. She started telling Ash’s mother the whole story.

Ash’s mother just sat there looking between her son, and the beautiful girl’s face ruined by the tears. Her gaze moved onto the object that was held by his son in his right hand.

‘Happy birthday Mom’ was written on the small red box.

She took it slowly from his hands with utmost care. Opening up the box, she saw a beautiful peacock necklace.

She just smiled a little bit, as tear again started flowing down her aging face. She knew that her son had saved someone from the pain she felt that day. She was happy, but her heart was torn on losing the only thing that kept her alive.

Katty watching the expression on Ash’s mother face, closed in and started pleading, “Please don’t do anything rash.”

Watching the girl begging her, she knew Ash would be sad if she did something to herself.

………………

It had been over a year since that incident happened, where the ‘demon’ now called the ‘savior’ had saved a girl from a terrible fate.

The media had covered the story, and Ash was seen as a hero. But her mother still felt sad, that they couldn’t see her son in that way before he died.

Ringing the bell, Katty smiled at the face who opened the door, “Hi Katty, how are you doing? Come inside.”

She greeted Ash’s mother back, and came inside the modest home.

“You know you don’t have to come everyday. I’m fine now.” said the woman, who had a wrinkled face now instead of that beautiful appearance.

“Aunty, you don’t like me visiting you”, Katty said sadly as she looked down.

“No honey, it’s not like that. I was feeling bad that you spent all your free time here with this old woman; you should enjoy your life.”

Hearing her say that Katty looked up again, “No aunty, I like it here.” She looked at Ash’s picture behind the sofa.

Following her gaze, Ash’s mother looked at the picture of her son.

“I hope he’s doing well wherever he is.”, said Katty while praying with her eyes closed.

Ash’s mother also closed her eyes, “I know, he is.”

…………

In pitch black darkness, which threatened to consume everything…. Something stirred….

“Finally found you.”
