AN- Howdy!! Filled my quota of a chapter for this week Yay!! But seriously i almost had a heart attack yesterday, you wanna know why? I was writing a 4 page assignment for my Psychology class on my latop, and i was almost done with it, but suddenly it turned off. I was like wtf?, and tried switching it on again but instead of an apple logo all i could see was 'error- Harddrive corrupted or was removed forcerully'. I swear when i read that my life shortened by 10 years. I had my assignment due the same day, and i didn't have the time to do it again. But suddenly I remembered that i had switched my HDD to SSD at home 2 months ago, and thought that maybe it was the connecting wires had plugged out. So i had to open up my latop again, and double checked the wire connections. And Viola!! it worked. My friends had told me before to use google docs, i was not really a fan, but now i'm definitely going to write all my work there. And yeah somehow my assignment was saving continuously, so i didn't lose any data. Phew~~ Without any further tragic (lol) life stories of mine please enjoy-
POV- Grace Walker
Caressing the silky silver hair, tears dropped down her face without any stop as she heard the soft breathing of her daughter.
“Please wake up..*sob* please…”, she spoke in between her cries.
The sight was heartbreaking; Grace had sunken eyes, she hadn’t eaten much over the 3 days as her daughter had not woken up.
Watching the scene, Marcus who was standing behind her, put his right hand onto Grace’s shoulder, and tightened his grip, reassuring her, “Don’t worry, Aurora is strong, she’ll definitely wake up.”
Grace knew that Marcus wasn’t sure himself if Aurora would wake up or not, but she held onto the hope that her daughter will open up her beautiful eyes again, and smile at her.
Looking back at her husband, who had lost his left arm while protecting her, she nodded her head which was bandaged and murmured, “Thank you”
Returning her gaze to the girl laying in the bed that hadn’t moved a muscle after that calamity, Grace reminisced the past.
……….
She was born in a village not far from Bellsvere town. Her father was a farmer, and her mother would help with his work.
They owned a small patch of land near the edge of the village where their house was located at. She didn’t have any talent in magic, not that she expected as her parents didn’t have any mana themselves.
Helping her parents with their work, playing with her friends when she was free, the monotonous life continued on.
But when she was 15, Mitters, a low level creature that looked like bulldogs had attacked their village, eating the crops and the livestock. The monster was a low level one, but it would attack in groups that even an average adventurer would have trouble with them. The village chief had asked the adventurer guild in the Bellsvere town to post an emergency request for the monster eradication.
The next day, a group of adventurers had come to do the task. Two boys, and a girl of her age, were assigned to kill the monsters near Grace’s house.
She was surprised to see someone of her age to kill the Mitters with ease, and their party was well coordinated. The elf boy, Errick moving behind the Mitters group, picking them off one by one, while the human boy Marcus would agro them from the front, protecting the girl, Jane who would shoot arrows from far away.
When the night had come, her parents had offered the group to rest in their home, and surprisingly Marcus had readily agreed despite the refusal of the other members.
In the end, they decided to just eat dinner, and sleep in the guest room. But while eating dinner, Marcus would shyly take glances at Grace.
When their eyes would meet, Marcus would quickly turn his head the other way. Grace found it really funny, and giggled to herself thinking how the brave adventurer had turned into a maiden in love.
They talked about each other, sharing stories as they ate their dinner. She found out that Marcus’s parents had a small inn in the Bellsvere town, but he didn’t want to work there, and after rebelling against them he became an adventurer.
She could also see that the other two, Errick and Jance, would often go into their own world looking into each other’s eyes passionately. Grace hadn’t talked to another boy of her age this much, because she had always been busy with work, and the little free time she had was spent with her girl friends in the village. She hadn’t cared about romance that much, but watching the couple she also began to yearn for that love.
The next morning, they had to leave back to the town to report their accomplishment. Marcus had slumped shoulders as he left, and would peek back every other step to see Grace who was waving goodbye to them.
She felt a little lonely; the fun she had talking to Macus, and his party was still present in her mind, but was also sad at the thought of them leaving.
To her surprise, the next week, Marcus had come again to her house laughing awkwardly saying that he had a patrolling job to do in the nearby area, and to make sure that there are no more dangerous monsters. She was happy to see him, but she couldn’t see his other party members. Questioning him about Errick, and Jane, Marcus panicked, and made excuses that they had some other tasks to perform.
They talked for a while, and Marcus helped with her work, even though she had declined his help. He was a funny guy, but also reliable. Grace had to part him again at the end of the day; Marcus’s face was again downcast, but when she asked him if he would come again, he happily agreed, and skipped back to his town yelling something.
The next three years continued like this, Marcus would find one reason or another to meet her. Grace didn’t mind, moreover she enjoyed his company. When Marcus would leave for a quest for a month or two, she would feel lonely at the prospect of not meeting him. She didn’t know when her feelings for him had grown so much, but she had accepted them.
When she finally turned 18, Marcus mouthed his love for her. She was beyond happy, but also angry at him that why he took so much time to propose her.
He asked for her hand in marriage from her parents, and they both happily agreed. They knew that the boy was nice, and caring, not only that he would also be able to protect their daughter from harm as he was an adventurer.
Grace after her wedding had moved with Marcus to his house, and started helping with her in-laws with the inn’s work, while Marcus would go on his quests.
After two years, she got pregnant with her first child. She was beyond happy, as she always dreamt about having a cute little child. Marcus also felt that he should stop being an adventurer; he didn’t want to die somewhere, and leave behind his love, and the unborn baby.
The pregnancy period went smoothly, and the delivery itself too. Marcus’s grandmother helped with the process. The tired Grace could see the worried expression of her mother-in-law; her heart sunk low thinking if something was wrong with her child. But her worries washed away, when she heard Sarah tell her that the baby girl was healthy.
As soon she held the baby, she could her looking back with her beautiful steel blue eyes. But as Grace told her grandmother that her child was too cute, the baby started crying.
Hearing the cries, Marcus, and Hume came in the room. Looking at the baby, they started chatting happily, asking what would she name her. Thinking for a minute, she said “Aurora”
As if she liked her name, the child beamed a brilliant smile. Grace was stunned for a second looking at the cute smile, and also smiled in return.
They talked for a while, but left the room to let the mother, and the newborn to take a rest.
….
Months had passed, the child was full of energy, looking everywhere with keen eyes, and listening to the conversations as if she could understand everything.
Grace felt blessed having such a good child, who would never cry at nights, only when she was hungry or stained her diaper did she cry. She could also feel the intelligence that the baby held in her eyes, and she was proven correct.
When Errick had come to their inn after such a long time, Grace and Marcus were overjoyed, but not as much as when Aurora suddenly spoke her first words only at the age of 7 months.
Hearing Aurora say “Mommy”, Grace was on the verge of collapsing from happiness, but she directed that energy to squeeze her daughter as she rubbed her cheeks with Aurora’s. But Aurora just didn’t stop showing how much of a genius she was, and started walking at the age of just 1.
The time flew by, and soon Aurora was going to ResenCrek for her awakening ceremony. Grace was worried. ‘Will Aurora have any talent in magic?’, she thought. Magic talent was rare, but Grace thought that her genius of a daughter might have some.
But at the sunset when they came back home, she saw Aurora’s stats. Even when her child didn’t have any mana, her other stats were beyond her age. Grace didn’t feel disappointed at all, and even if Aurora didn’t have those stats, she would love her child unconditionally; it was natural for a mother, moreover Aurora was a very good child.
Years passed, her life was fulfilling, a caring husband, and a beautiful daughter that helped her all the time, what more could she ask for? The future looked bright as much as the present time. But they say tragedies occur at the most peaceful periods.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
On that terrible day, she was waiting a person in the inn when suddenly she heard shouting, and screaming from outside. Worried she got out with Marcus to find people running towards the front of the town. Looking towards the other direction, they could see many houses on fire. Marcus feeling the danger, immediately went back inside to grab his sword.
Grace asked someone to know what was happening. The answer left her terrified.
‘A king Bear! Aurora where is she?!!’, not caring for own safety, the first thought that came into her mind was Aurora’s well-being.
She heard a roar, as Marcus came out with his long sword. Down the street, destroying everything in it’s path the Monster was looking towards their direction with red blood eyes.
It was enraged by something, and started running on all it’s four with killing intent. Marcus knew that he wouldn’t be able to kill the giant, so his only option was to get his family out of here.
But before he could take any action, the Bear was already in front them. Standing on it’s hind legs, it swung its massive sharp claws down at the stunned Grace. She had never seen something so terrifying in all her life; closing her eyes, she thought it was her end. But Marcus appeared before her, and tried to parry the claw.
But the monster’s strength was no joke, as Marcus crashed into Grace, while Grace was thrown away on the road. She was losing her consciousness from the impact. The King bear picked up a nearby cart, and threw it towards the inn’s second floor destroying it completely.
Grace closed her eyes, thinking about whether this was their end, but soon she heard someone’s steps, and some soft whispers. She didn’t even have any strength to open her eyes to look at the newcomer.
She heard a crashing sound, and soon followed a chilling cry of a woman. She somehow recognized that voice but didn’t want to believe that ‘she’ was here.
Partly opening her eyes with all her will she saw her daughter moving in, and out fighting the King Bear head on.
Her mind went blank, ‘Run away!!’, she couldn’t voice out her thoughts no matter how much she tried. But to her surprise, Aurora seemed to disappear for a second, and appear right near the monster’s face. As the Bear fell down with a thud, she felt the ground shake, and the she saw her daughter covered in blood slowly falling down.
‘No…No..NO!! Aurora!!’, she moved her body despite the pain she felt in her head. Slowly crawling through the wreckage, Grace found her daughter lying in a pool of blood.
With whatever strength that she had left, Grace pulled her daughter’s head onto her lap. Caressing the silver hair that was tainted with blood, she felt a little relieved to see that her daughter was still breathing but it was really slow.
She tried to close the wound on Aurora’s chest by ripping the hem of her dress, and pressing it against the terrible slash. But the blood didn’t stop, and soaked her dress completely.
Watching this she started crying, and looked around for help. Marcus was laying unconscious a little further away, and was also bleeding profusely from his missing left arm.
“Help..someone help”, she croaked through her sobs, and soon as if hearing her cries, someone came to help.
“Grace!!!”, she looked to the incoming voice; Jane was running towards them with a bow, and some arrows in her hand.
Throwing away her weapons and looking at the blood, Jane composed herself, “We need to treat those wounds immediately.”
Without even waiting for Grace’s reply, Jane quickly pulled out a vial with a red liquid in it. She poured the content forcefully down Aurora’s throat, and made Grace drink the rest. The bleeding somewhat slowed down, but didn’t completely stop.
Jane picked up Aurora in her arms, and told Grace to stop the Marcus’s bleeding. Grace got out of her stupor, and quickly made her way towards her husband. Carefully ripping the apron off Marcus, she pressed the clothe against the stump where his arm was missing. While Jane brought Aurora inside their house, which was not damaged surprisingly.
Jane came after a minute, quickly helping both Marcus, and Grace move into their home. Grace saw Aurora was laid on the dinning table, with bandages on all around her chest.
“Don’t worry, I gave her a quick first aid,” Jane said, while she tightened the bandages around Marcus’s arm to stop the bleeding. “You also shouldn’t move around too much”
Even if her bleeding had stopped due to the health potion, Jane wasn’t sure if Grace had any internal head injury. But she didn’t listen to Jane, and started tending to daughter.
After a few hours, Grace could see Marcus standing by the door. She had moved Aurora with extreme care to her bedroom with the help of Errick who had rushed back from his job hearing the news of a monster attack.
Jane explained that she had come back leaving her daughter to an acquaintance, because she was worried when Aurora had gone back alone. Grace was appreciative that Jane had been there when she needed help otherwise she would have lost her family.
While everyone in the town was flabbergasted thinking as to who killed the King Bear, Grace couldn’t help but look at her daughter’s face, and her tears would flow out every so often.
One day had passed, Grace changed her daughter’s bandages, but was surprised not to see any wound; there wasn’t even any scar on Aurora’s chest. She was happy at the same time puzzled. But her worries started growing more, when Aurora didn’t wake up even on the next day.
Marcus told her to eat properly, and not ruin her health anymore. Food was the last thing that she cared about, right now only Aurora was on her mind.
She prayed to whatever god she could think of, but as if her prayers fell on deaf ears, Aurora didn’t move a muscle even on the third day.
But on the fourth day, Aurora slowly opened her eyes. Watching her daughter move her eyes, Grace bawled in happiness, “Aurora!! Aurora *sob*” as she hugged her tightly to make her point of not letting go anytime soon.

POV- ???? (Location: Capital City- Jornmill)
“Curse this world”, a middle aged man groaned under his breadth, as he moved into a dark alley.
Knocking on the door twice, the slit on the door opened, and revealed a pair of dark red eyes. After a quick look at the man in black cloak, the door opened.
“You are late”, the red eyed man said as he closed the door.
“It takes time to get here from across the kingdom” the middle-aged man replied nervously. He could see other 4 four figures in the dark room with cloaks over covering their whole body, revealing only a little part of their faces.
“You completed your task properly right?”, he heard a man’s voice, but couldn’t differentiate who spoke.
“Ye..s I did as I was told,” he spoke with a little stutter.
But the next second a figure disappeared from the room, and appeared right next to him with a sword pointed at his throat.
“We heard what happened,” the sweating man heard woman’s voice, “tell us the truth or you will die.”
“I swear I completed the job without even raising any suspicion” he tried to get away, but the the woman didn’t let him.
“The town still stands there, only 5 deaths….am I mistaken now?” the woman asked pressing the tip deeper into his neck.
As a trickle of blood dropped onto the sword, the middle-aged man said nervously, “I did as you said, I summoned the King Bear near the edge of the town in the forest, but I couldn’t tame it”
He continued as he felt the pressure of the sword, “But I rented a room in an inn near the market, and placed a magic circle to attract its attention.”
Summoned beasts, if untamed, will try to kill the summoner. The man had run away and masked his presence while the King bear searched for him in the forest. To get the bear do his original task of destroying the town, and creating chaos, he had looked around for an area where the people frequented the most.
Luckily he had found the best location, ‘The Tranquil Wind’ inn, and in it’s way from the forest was a market too. Creating a magic circle to mark his false presence there, he left the inn to get away before the monster would come.
But all his plans had failed when at night he found out that someone killed the King bear.
“I didn’t know there was someone so strong to kill the bear…” before he could speak any further, his head rolled on the floor.
The woman made a sweeping motion to get the blood off of her golden curved sword with a snake outline running on the hilt.
“A failure is a failure”, she spoke as she sheathed her sword back into it’s scabbard.
“Well we were successful in destroying other towns, and villages near the elven lands,” a deep hoarse voice of man was heard, “but we should search for the one who killed the King bear.”
With everyone nodding their approval, he spoke again, “Only a few more years before we conquer this world….”

P.S
I feel like i should've waited till summer break to write this ff, so that i could properly write chapters. But i do everything on impulses, and lose interest easily. No worries though, i won't leave this fun little project of mine in the middle, and drop it.
A chapter next week? umm sure, but no promises.
