Chapter-89: I can Apparate

Chapter-89: I can Apparate

Harry didnt know what to think or say to Ronan. On one hand, he was furious at him, because he lied to him. And he even let the real killer of his parents slip by him. While on the other hand, he saved an innocent man.

Harry knew that Sirius and his parents were friends, which is why he wanted to talk to the man. He wanted to know more about his parents. But he never got the chance to meet the man.

After returning to his normal composure, he wondered what kind of man Sirius was. That man had suffered so much for all these years. He could only imagine what kind of pain Sirus would have gone through. He wanted to talk to the man but had no way of contacting him.

But it was then, he received a letter one day that changed everything…

It was typical breakfast of that morning, people were still gossiping about how Ronan had defeated and imprisoned Sirius, which annoyed him for some reason. His friends, who knew him well made sure that they didnt gossip about that matter, but they couldnt stop everyone else from talking about it.

It was then, a bird came to a stop in front of him. It was not like any other bird that Harry had seen in his life. It was black, it was slightly bigger than an owl and it had a weird banana-shaped long yellow beak. The bird had a letter in his mouth, addressed to him. He took the letter, and the bird flew away.

“Was that a Toucan?” Hermione asked.

“What is a Toucan,” Ron and Neville asked simultaneously.

“It is a tropical bird,” she said. And then she went on to describe where the bird was from, but Harry was listening to none of it. His mind was on the letter.

He opened the letter, sent from someone called Padfoot.

Dear Harry,

I hope that you are doing well. There were a lot of things I wanted to say to you, I wanted to talk to you in person as well. But destiny had some other plans for us, I think.

I am assuming that your friend Ronan had told you what happened that night, and I hope that you know that I am not the person, that you might would have thought I was. Your father was like a brother to me, and I would have never betrayed him, even if that meant me dying…

This letter is from Sirius, Harry thought.

There are a lot of things that I wanted to say to you. I wanted to meet you as well, but I feared that I might get caught. Which is why I came solely to meet you, when you, Neville, and Ronan were by the lake. And let me tell you Harry, but you have your mother’s eyes. I felt very happy that day, seeing you standing tall there, happy with your friends. It was the most beautiful highlight of mine, of the last decade.

I dont know whether you know this or not, but your friend Ronan invited me to his house this summer. I was hoping that we could meet in real life. I would understand if you dont want to meet me, and I won't blame you either.

Take your time and decide. If you want to meet me, just hand a red ribbon out of the third-floor window. I will only approach the house if I see the ribbon.

Yours Truly

Padfoot.

Harry then passed the letter to Hermione, who after reading started looking at him with worry. Then Ron snatched the letter from her, and Neville took it from him. After reading its content, they all started looking at each other, not knowing what to say.

It was then Neville was the one, that spoke, “So.. What do you think? Do you want to?” he asked.

Harry thought for a moment, and then shrugged, “I dont know.”

When the bell rang, and they started heading towards their potion class, Harry was still thinking about what he should do. But it was then Neville asked him a question, that made his stomach churn, “Harry.. Now that you have fought with Ronan, do you think that he would let you stay in his house?”

He hadn't thought of that. And before he knew it, he started having another headache, he didnt know where to go. He couldnt go back to the Dursleys while staying with Weasleys was fun and all, he couldnt be a burden to them. In that class, he messed up his shrinking potion twice, making Snape pass various snides and remarks on him. But he didn't react, he was just too busy thinking about what was he supposed to do now.

It was halfway through the class, did something happened, that got his attention as well. A blue ball of light entered the room, startling everyone in the room, even Snape. The ball of light came to a stop in front of Snape and suddenly the voice of Ronan started coming out of the ball of light.

“Professor Snape, I have somehow apparated out of the common room. Daphne had splinched her leg. We are at the edge of the lake and I am making my way towards the castle. Help us,” And then the ball of light vanished.

Everyone in the class looked at Snape, and he looked stunned like everyone else. Snape then said the words, that brought joy to everyone present in the room, “Class dismissed,” and he hurriedly made his way outside.

“Wasnt apparation..” He looked at Hermione. “The magic from which wizard can appear disappear from one location, and appear on another? I thought you said that one cannot just cannot apparate in and out of the magic”

Hermione looked ashen, “You can, but I think Ronan found a way,”

“We should go? See whether he is hurt or not,” Neville said.

“Yeah…” Ron then looked at him. Harry also nodded his head, “Yeah. We should go,” And thus they all hurried out of the dungeon like the other students.

I should really learn how to swim, Ronan thought, as he stared at the ceiling of the infirmary. He didnt know how to swim, nor did Daphne apparently. And when they landed in the water, they were both about to drown. He knew about the bubble head charm that he could use to breathe underwater, but he started panicking as soon as they hit the water. He didnt have the chance to cast the spell.

Luckily for them, the great squid of the Lake was a very friendly beast. He just remembers the sensation of touching its long elongated tentacles, full of suction cups, gently pushing them towards the shore.

When he got his bearing back, he found himself by the shore. He checked himself and found him to be unharmed. When he checked on Daphne, that is when he saw her leg missing. The missing leg made him realize that maybe she might have splinched, so he immediately called for a professor, who could be nearest to the common room, that could secure the leg.

And thus he came here. Madame Promfrey with Snape, was reattaching the leg of Daphne two beds down from him. He couldnt see it, as she had put the curtains around her bed. While he was here, staring at the ceiling, not knowing what just happened there.

If I remember correctly, no one can apparate in or out of Hogwarts. Yet I unknowingly did. And as I didnt use any power in the process, I think I might have inherited the will of wand core.

He had read about this before. Wand core can influence what a wizard or witch's specialties are. A Transfiguration Master would always have a phoenix core as their wand core because phoenixes are synonyms for transformation. But never in a million years, would he have imagined that he would inherit the will of Zowu.

If it is indeed true, then doesn't that mean, I can apparate in and out of any place? I could also potentially apparate thousands of miles away.

Ronan wanted to laugh out loud, this power would be very useful to him, he knew it in the bones.

It was then, that the door of the infirmary was pushed open, and Neville and his friends came barging in. They immediately came to his bed.

Hermione who looked worried asked, “What happened?”

He shrugged his shoulders, “Dont know. Somehow I was able to apparate above the lake.”

“Hermione,” Ron said, “Didnt you say that one cannot apparate in or out of the Hogwarts?”

“That is true,” he said, “But I have no idea how I was able to apparate. Maybe their Slytherin Common Room doesn't have non-apparition enchantment to it.”

“That is highly unlikely,” Hermione said, “The whole castle is covered with the enchantments. There is no way that the Slytherin common room would be an exception.”

“You are right,” he said, “One cannot just apparate in and out of the castle. I was able to do so because of the Will of my Core. You know what that is right?”

They all looked confused, even Hermione. So he continued, “The core of the wand could grant certain abilities in certain fields. It is a not very well-noted phenomenon, and not a lot of studies have been done on the topic.. According to the concept, one wand’s core could grant some extra powers to the user. Like a wand core with Vella’s hair could grant the user exceptional prowess when it comes to mental spells.”

“Whats a Veela?” Ron and Neville spoke simultaneously. He sighed upon hearing those words, sometimes he wondered whether these two were pure-blood wizards or not. It is quite shameful, according to him, not knowing the basic stuff about their world, of whom they had been part of since their childhood.

“Ronan,” Harry spoke for the first time since they had come. “I need to talk to you.”

“What?”

“Are we still friends?” he asked, with hesitation.

“Yeah. We are,” he said nonchalantly, “Your anger was justified Potter. Dont beat yourself over spilled milk. Let's just move on, shall we?”

Harry looked relieved, and then proceeded to show him the letter from Sirius…
