The moonlight poured down like water in the forest, covering the quiet night with a layer of silver gauze.
Alexander and Irene, hand in hand, ran through the woods. Behind them were the pursuers of the Demon Hunting Church, and in front of them was an unknown fate.
"Irene, are you afraid?" Alexander asked, his eyes full of worry and pity. He knew that Irene was just a weak human girl, but she had to flee with him, bearing great pressure and danger.
"I'm not afraid, as long as I can be with you, I'm not afraid of anything." Irene said firmly, her eyes full of love for Alexander and hope for the future.
They had been on the run for three days and three nights, but the pursuit of the Demon Hunting Church was getting tighter and tighter. They didn't dare to make a fire or rest, and could only rely on wild fruits and spring water to fill their hunger and quench their thirst. They were exhausted physically and mentally.
"Damn it! Those demon hunters are like dog-skin plasters, they can't be shaken off!" Alexander cursed in a low voice, his heart was full of anger and helplessness. He knew that in their current state, they could not get rid of the pursuit of the Demon Hunting Church at all, and they would be caught up by them sooner or later.
"Alexander, what should we do?" Irene also felt desperate, but she didn't cry or complain. She knew that now was not the time to be weak. She had to be strong to help Alexander.

Alexander looked around. They were now in a dense forest. The tall trees covered the sky and the moonlight could only fall through the gaps in the leaves, forming mottled light and shadow.
"Irene, come with me!" Alexander took Irene's hand and ran into the depths of the forest.
They came to a huge ancient tree. The tree was so tall that it reached the sky and the trunk was so thick that it took several people to hug it. On the crown of the tree, the branches and leaves were lush, forming a natural barrier that completely blocked the moonlight.
"Let's hide in the tree hole. The demon hunters shouldn't be able to find us." Alexander said, pointing to a dark hole on the tree trunk.
Irene nodded, and she followed Alexander into the tree hole.
The tree hole was pitch black, and the air was filled with a damp and rotten smell.
Alexander took out a night pearl from his arms, and the soft light dispelled the darkness and illuminated Irene's pale face.
"Irene, are you okay?" Alexander looked at Irene with worry in his eyes. He knew that Irene was exhausted, but she had been holding back without showing any weakness.
"I'm fine, just... a little tired..." Irene said weakly, leaning in Alexander's arms and closing her eyes.
Alexander gently stroked Irene's hair, his heart full of pity and self-blame. He knew that it was all because of him that Irene suffered with him.
"Irene, I'm sorry..." Alexander whispered, his voice full of guilt and self-blame.
"Silly, what are you talking about?" Irene opened her eyes and looked at Alexander, her eyes full of tenderness and love, "I love you, so I don't regret it..."
They hugged each other tightly, feeling each other's body temperature, as if they wanted to integrate each other into their own body and never separate.
However, fate always likes to play jokes on people...
