----------------------------------------
This majestic vulpine is the adult version of the vul after the kit has mastered an element. Maturation catalyzes mana into the growth of the fox stone—a weightless crystal embedded into the body of the el'vul, usually in the tail. Stronger and smarter than their younger counterpart, the el'vul is often a pack leader and coordinator of attacks.

The vul and el'vul dwell in both their natural habitats (grasslands and woodlands) and city landscapes (old bookstores, schools, and libraries). Not necessarily hostile, the vul species is territorial and will defend itself against perceived intruders. The wild vul tend to be more rowdy and bold, in search of direct, physical confrontations. The urban vul is a sly trickster that prefers to misdirect its foes.
The differences between rural and urban el'vul became more pronounced as they age into their final form. Both magic users, the wild el'vul will enhance its physical attacks and abilities while the urban el'vul aims for distanced attacks as a caster.
The children of el'vul are born as normal, cream-colored vul.
When the tail is broken, the normally agile kitsune becomes much slower. If the fox stone is shatttered within the tail, then its magic power is greatly decreased. For those hunting el'vul, this is considered an unseemly way to kill them since an intact fox stone is regarded as useful in crafting enchantments.
The strongest el'vul seem to recognize a trespasser's intentions—whether they wish them ill, simply intend to pass through, or seeks their treasure. If bested in a trial by combat, the el'vul will guide the traveler to what they seek… or what they think they seek!
