Chapter 42 - Go to Diagon Alley

Chapter 42 - Go to Diagon Alley

The first day of the Christmas holidays.

This is absolutely wonderful! Hoare said to himself.

The night before, Headmaster Dumbledore had sent Hoare a message via a Thousand Paper Crane, arranging to meet at the school gate at nine the next morning.

They were going to Diagon Alley to get Hoare his destined wand.

Early in the morning, Hoare put on his cleanest and tidiest clothes to show his seriousness.

"Hahaha, Henry, you look very excited," Dumbledore said when he arrived, finding Hoare had already been waiting for half an hour.

He couldn't help it. Ever since receiving Dumbledore's Thousand Paper Crane the previous day, Hoare had been too excited to sleep.

He had only managed to doze off briefly at dawn, waking up full of energy, as if ready to play another game of Quidditch.

"Good morning, Headmaster," Hoare said, his face betraying none of his inner excitement.

But Dumbledore understood. After all, he had been just as excited when he got his own destined wand all those years ago.

Oh, how long ago that was.

Dumbledore waved his hand, the school gate opened, and the two of them walked out one after the other.

"Thank you for your hard work, Filch," Hoare greeted Filch warmly as they left.

Filch looked very surprised. He glanced at Dumbledore, who also greeted him kindly, leaving Filch puzzled as he responded with a couple of nods.

The two continued on their way, heading to Hogsmeade.

Hogwarts had restrictions in place, prohibiting the use of magic for teleportation, such as Apparition, within the school grounds. So, they had to reach Hogsmeade before they could Apparate.

Hoare looked at Filch, especially now that he was healthy and had a faint trace of magic, completely different from before, and felt very happy.

Of course, he was happy. After all, Filch was his first loyal customer and the only one who could observe the effects up close.

As soon as the potion was released, Filch immediately took leave to go to the potion shop in Hogsmeade to buy it.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

On the afternoon of the potion's release, Hoare could already sense a hint of magic in Filch.

Afterward, Hoare even wandered around the school gate twice during the day and took night walks just to feel the magic in Filch.

Filch's magic gradually increased, finally stabilizing at a certain level. Although Hoare was still not satisfied, as even a normal third-year student had more magic than him.

But clearly, Filch was extremely satisfied, his once gloomy face now beaming with joy.

It scared the Weasley twins so much that they didn't dare to play pranks for several days.

"Filch is very grateful to the person who invented the potion," Dumbledore said with a hint of gratification in his voice, as it was his student who invented the potion.

It would solve a millennia-old problem in the wizarding world.

Hoare was also very pleased. "His continued support is the best gratitude to the inventor."

A bottle of short-term Squib Potion, effective for three days, was priced at 5 Galleons.

If you bought a month's supply at once, it only cost 50 Galleons, with an additional three bottles as a bonus.

Affordable and very cost-effective.

Indeed, the potion's final name was quite straightforward: Short-term Squib Potion.

It must be said, Lucius Malfoy was a very shrewd businessman.

Upon hearing the name, he immediately wrote to Draco, asking him to inquire if Hoare planned to release a long-term version.

Unfortunately, Hoare had no intention of sharing his plans with them, as the long-term potion would involve the Philosopher's Stone, which was quite a frightening matter.

However, unexpectedly, besides Squibs, other wizards also purchased it.

It was said that a wizard, out of curiosity or skepticism, took a family member's short-term Squib Potion and was surprised to find that his long-stagnant magic had actually increased.

Though not by much, he was certain it had indeed increased.

After continuously taking it for a while, he went to St. Mungo's for a check-up, and compared to the previous year, his magic had increased by 1.83%!

Do not underestimate this 1.83% growth rate.

You must know, for an adult wizard, their magic only decreases and never increases, but now!

This potion turned the impossible into possible.

With St. Mungo's endorsement, the short-term Squib Potion quickly became a hot commodity.

The first batch of potions sold out quickly, and the second batch, still in production, was already fully reserved.

Even many nobles and institutions, like the Ministry of Magic and St. Mungo's, placed large orders, even offering extra money to jump the queue.

Hoare had always thought that this was Lucius Malfoy, the board of governors' business director, and Draco's father, who had arranged for someone to promote it.

Later, after Dumbledore's verification, it turned out to be true.

Crossing the bridge, the two arrived at an open space.

Dumbledore took out his wand and extended his hand. "Henry, are you ready? It might be a bit uncomfortable."

Hoare nodded, taking Dumbledore's hand. "I'm ready. I've read about it in books."

His family used to travel via the Floo Network, which didn't require any magic, and even Squibs could use Floo Powder.

Dumbledore gripped Hoare's hand tightly, flicked his wand, and Hoare instantly felt like he was being sucked through a drain, his whole body compressed into a ball.

Twisting and turning, the sensation was like being a towel wrung out repeatedly.

Just as Hoare was about to lose it, he felt his feet touch the ground.

What felt like a long time was actually less than a minute.

With Dumbledore's help, Hoare stood up straight, then followed his body's reaction to find a corner and threw up.

"Ugh..."

"Hahaha, it's always like this the first time. You'll get used to it," Dumbledore laughed heartily at Hoare's embarrassed state.

Usually so confident, Hoare now looked like a child.

Hoare took the handkerchief Dumbledore handed him and wiped his mouth vigorously. He secretly vowed to invent a comfortable and fast mode of travel.

Once he composed himself, Hoare finally had the chance to look around. The surroundings were unfamiliar, like a secluded alley.

When he looked up, he could see the pointed roof of a distant building, the iconic structure of Diagon Alley, Gringotts, a wizard bank run and managed by goblins.

"Let's go, Henry. We'll get your wand and then head to Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour for some ice cream. I hear they have a new flavor that's quite good," Dumbledore said, waving his hand excitedly and striding forward eagerly.

Hoare quickly followed. Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour?

I must get a huge chocolate ice cream with lots of raspberries and crushed nuts on top!
