Hogwarts' Niffler: All I Need Is Galleons
Chapter 25 - Who wouldn't want to lie on a bed full of gold coins?

Chapter 25 - Who wouldn't want to lie on a bed full of gold coins?

"Headmaster..." Hoare took a deep breath, ready to start his sob story.

However, Albus Dumbledore, the all-knowing headmaster of Hogwarts, was already well-prepared.

"What are your terms?" Dumbledore spoke first, showing his sincerity. "I noticed Henry has been using a second-hand wand. How about I gift you a wand of your own?"

This was beyond Hoare's expectations. He was stunned, not expecting Dumbledore to be so observant and notice that his wand wasn't quite right for him.

In the wizarding world, everyone has their destined wand. Unfortunately, for the Weasley family, with so many members, they couldn't afford a wand for each person.

So, basically, their wands were passed down. Like Ron was using Charlie's old wand, and Percy's was Bill's old wand.

Without their destined wand, they couldn't unleash their full magical potential.

Who in the wizarding world wouldn't want to find their destined wand at Ollivanders?

He almost softened his stance.

"Thank you for the gift, Headmaster," Hoare accepted the offer.

"And about the assistant's salary?" Dumbledore's tone was a bit weak. Hogwarts professors' salaries were not low, which was why people flocked to the positions. But this was the first time for an assistant, so the salary was not high, much lower compared to professors.

Dumbledore spoke with some embarrassment, "How about 100 Galleons per class hour?"

A light bulb went off in Hoare's mind. He hadn't expected Hogwarts to pay so well.

He did some quick calculations.

At Hogwarts, the lower years refer to years 1-3, with each year having two classes per house, totaling six classes, each having two Potions classes per week.

After Quirrell's incident, an additional class was added for each year, with each Potions class lasting two hours.

That made it 36 class hours.

If calculated at Dumbledore's rate of 100 Galleons, wouldn't the weekly salary be 3600 Galleons?

Nearly ten thousand a month!

Oh my! Hoare realized for the first time how wealthy Hogwarts was. No wonder the student-to-professor ratio was so skewed, and no one ever resigned.

With such a high salary, unless something unexpected happened, this was a lifelong career, with fame and fortune! Who would want to quit?

Hoare glanced at Dumbledore's expression, guessing that this price was probably considered pitifully low for Hogwarts professors.

Otherwise, a shrewd person like Dumbledore wouldn't show such a guilty expression.

Since Dumbledore had made an offer, it wouldn't be right not to raise the price.

Hoare estimated a reasonable price, "Headmaster, you know, besides my coursework, research, and Quidditch training, my time is really tight." He put on a helpless face.

Dumbledore's blue eyes, hidden behind his half-moon glasses, showed a hint of amusement. "How much do you think is appropriate, Henry?"

Hoare's eyes lit up, and he held up two fingers to Dumbledore. "200 Galleons per class hour."

"Deal." Dumbledore agreed very straightforwardly.

Dumbledore's straightforwardness made Hoare hesitate slightly, wondering if he had set the price too low.

Hoare got an advance on a week's salary from Dumbledore.

To be honest, his hands were shaking a bit. As someone who loved money, if it weren't for the fact that there were others in his dorm, he would have spread the Galleons all over his bed and rolled in them!

That was a full 7200 Gold-Galleons!

"Upgrade Potion-making talent level, upgrade Spell talent level. Learn Felix Felicis, Veritaserum, Venomous Tentacula Juice. Learn the Body-Bind Curse, Leg-Locker Curse, Jelly-Legs Jinx."

Since he became an assistant, he naturally couldn't be underestimated.

Hoare tried, and his B-level talent was about the same as Snape's level in potion-making, except he was slightly lacking in experience.

Since he lacked experience, Hoare decided to make up for it with talent abilities. Higher talent abilities would eventually compensate for the lack of experience.

Originally, Hoare only planned to exchange for potion-making talent, but after recalling Scabbers, it had been stuck in his mind.

Hoare noticed through the Marauder's Map that Scabbers moved freely through Hogwarts' pipes, as if it were his home.

He ate the food provided by Hogwarts house-elves and slept on Gryffindor's soft beds.

Considering that in Hoare's memory, even when they finally caught Peter Pettigrew, he still escaped the cage due to his familiarity with Hogwarts' pipes.

He resurrected the man with a snake face.

Hoare would never let Peter Pettigrew have a chance to escape.

He wanted to immobilize him, forcing him to stay obediently in the cage.

Hoare had been an assistant for about a month now. Initially, the students were very skeptical. After all, Hoare had only just enrolled a few months ago. How could he be qualified to assist in teaching higher-year courses?

Now, whenever they saw Hoare, they enthusiastically called him "Professor William."

Hoare rubbed his forehead. He understood why his headmaster always kept a stern face. If he didn't, these students would run wild!

Literally run wild, considering this was the wizarding world.

He was contemplating whether to get some Aging Potion to make himself look older.

For second-year students, it was fine, but third-year students often came up to the podium just to pinch his cheeks!

At eleven, he was still too young. When pretty young ladies saw him, all they wanted to do was pinch his cheeks.

Hoare sighed.

There was no romance, but there was plenty of money.

Hoare could now be considered a small-time millionaire, but the assistant job wasn't permanent. Once Quirrell recovered or Dumbledore found a new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, he would be out of a job.

So Hoare's focus remained on the Squib Potion.

As for Scabbers, Hoare had a sudden inspiration and decided to use him as a test subject.

Animagi don't have magic; they are purely in animal form unless they transform into humans.

If the Animagus form could possess magic, then the potion would truly be successful.

Hoare thought to himself that he was truly kind-hearted, giving Peter Pettigrew a chance for redemption.
