The next morning came earlier than I expected and that morning I woke up with a smile on my lips. Today was the day I would meet my family. I went to take a bath and then I dressed up in a black Homer Simpson t-shirt, black jeans and white sneakers. I made sure to comb my hair.
'I can't believe that it's finally happening', I thought to myself as I ordered breakfast. It was around 8 am when Vince came to my door and told me it was time to visit the Migration Office where I would go through a DNA test to confirm whether I was indeed related to the Calvin's or not. Vince Harold came to pick me up with his two bodyguards behind me. We went down to the lobby and out on the hotel. The sedan was parked waiting for us to get in. It was sunny outside and it had a peaceful atmosphere about it. We took of down the highway. The drive only took a few minutes before we arrived at the Migration Office parking lot.
"Caroline Calvin...your aunt... is waiting inside but before you meet her you'll have to do the DNA test," Vince said.
"Alright," I said with my cells overcharged with excitement and anxiety.
***********
Laura had gotten off the bus with the other students who were piling out onto the school parking lot. She wanted nothing more than to get out of the open and get inside before she ran into Brandon. She never bothered to look around her as she went up the terrace steps to get into Crimson Academy's hallways.
She had just barely gone through the door when she saw him standing with his group of friends. They were a group of delinquents.
They didn't care about the school rules or the school dress code, they preferred to wear black denim jackets even though they were supposed to were the school's crimson jackets and they had outrageous haircuts that were an abomination to the standards of the school and even if the teachers saw them they wouldn't do anything about it because everyone knew that Brandon MacDonald was the one and only son of the vice leader of the Rattlesnake mafia which had been gaining influence more rapidly than the mayor's office campaign.
There was a rumor that a teacher gave him an F in a test and was found the next morning lying on his front lawn beaten to a bloody pulp with a broken leg, arm and a damaged kidney, the teacher was still alive though and after he had gotten treated he quit his job and moved out of town.
Laura had heard of the rumors but by then she was already dating him and though those were the rumors she couldn't bring herself to believe them because Brandon seemed like a nice guy at that time but then he started pushing for them to have sex and Laura wasn't down for it so she broke up with him hoping that he would stop bothering her.
That was never the case though. Brandon had made sure that no guy would get close to her and her continued to push her further only that this time he would harass her, embarrass her and try to manipulate her life in public areas. One of those public areas were the school hallways.
Laura's legs felt heavy as she was glued on the spot. Brandon looked her way and had an amused smile on his face when he saw the state she was in. He whispered something to his friends before they all walked away which was unusual because Brandon would normally approach her and make it clear to her that even though they were not dating she still belonged to him, like she was some sort of object that could be possessed or disposed of but it was clear to her that all Brandon wanted was to at least have sex with her before letting her go which was a scary thought for her.

She shook her head and regained her composure. There was no way in hell she was going to let that happen. She walked towards her locker and took out her history text book before heading to her class.
Laura was a third year student that belonged to Class 3C that was located with the other two Class 3 rooms on the third floor. The Crimson Academy Highschool was organized like that, it was a large facility with four floors, each floor was for a designated classroom that even had its own library with books that corresponded with the class located on that floor. There were also other blocks that led to computer labs, biology labs, physics and chemistry labs and even geography labs.
Laura was excited to get to class since it was the only place where she wouldn't have to deal with Brandon and his crooked personality as he and his friends were fourth years. She climbed up two flights of stairs before making it to her classroom floor.
By the time she reached her class the history teacher Miss Amanda Waller had already started teaching the class on the ancient Aztec culture before the war with the Spanish which was the cause of the kingdom's fall. She knocked on the door and held on to her text book nervously. Miss Amanda was standing infornt of the entire class and even after she heard the knock at the door she continued talking to the class.
"I assume you also think it was a bit much with the human sacrifice no? I if you ask what I think. I'd say the Aztec gods were a bunch of psychopaths," she said and the class laughed. "Yes come in," she said and she wasn't surprised to find Laura Calvin coming through the door. Miss Amanda just sighed
"Sorry I'm late," Laura said in the nervous voice she usually does but this time Miss Amanda could tell that something else was wrong and she decided to let her off with a warning rather than detention.
"Yes yes take a sit before I decide to give change my mind," Miss Amanda said.
"Thank you" Laura hurriedly went to her front desk and quickly dropped her bag on the floor.
She could hear the other students whispering behind her and most of them were girls. Among some of the whispers... "I feel bad for her" . "Yeah this is like the third time this week". "I bet it has to do with that bastard".
Laura internally groaned and tried to focus on what Miss Waller was saying but no matter how hard she tried she just couldn't bring herself to concentrate. Her mind was troubling her with questions.
What if her brother really was alive? What would he even look like? Would they get along? Would she be able to protect him like she used to when they were kids in kindergarten? She couldn't even protect herself right now how in the world would she even be to protect him?
What the hell was she even thinking? There was no way he could still be alive right?
"....ura...Laura Calvin?!"
"Yes?" she snapped out of her daze.
"Good to know you're not a living corpse," Miss Waller said and everyone in class laughed silently.
"Sorry," Laura said with her cheeks bright red with embarassment. "What was the question?"
"There was no question. I got a message from the headmaster saying your family needs you so you're get your things and head to the parking lot your getting off school early today," Miss Waller said and Laura looked at her like she was an alien or something.
"Don't look at me like that. I also don't know what's happening," Miss Waller said with a shrug. Laura nodded and packed up her things.
"She's so lucky," she heard someone whisper behind her.
As Laura stepped out of the academy's black and stepped into the mid morning light. She was surprised that she was getting off school early but she was more surprised to see to men in Black suits and sunglasses standing in front of a black Sedan.
"Miss Laura Calvin?" one of the men asked.
"Yep. That's me," she replied awkwardly as she stood holding her bag. She was extremely nervous.
"No need to be distressed ma'am. We're here to take you to your brother," the other one said. Laura's shock was evident on her face.
