Four men were being held in the middle of a camp within a desert region filled with militarist movements. The men were all in their late thirties and all of them were bound to wooden poles at the center of the camp. They were stripped down to nothing which was not only humiliating but also given that the temperature of the desert during the desert were plummeting at fast rates as the desert sun set, they felt extremely cold. They were naked and in the open. Surrounded by a group of thirty people who looked at them with amusement in their eyes and some where even having some sexual deliberations but stayed still, doing nothing. At the very front of the group, a man currently sat on a wooden chair as he looked towards the four. He had a large beard that made him look like a Viking and his dark cold eyes looked at them as though he was looking at ants. It was clear that this man didn’t take these prisoners seriously at all.
“You Americans are really something else,” the man spoke with amusement evident in his voice. “You come here knowing that I have at least 50 armed men with me, and even with that taken out of the equation, I have at most 25 military jeeps that are fitted with machine guns as well.”
The four men who were naked and were of course the prisoners, were of American descent. And not only that they were soldiers too, belonging to the nations’ top secret organization that acted as America’s blade in the shadows. If there was an operation that required them to take action and wanted nobody to identify them as American assets, they were the ones who would be sent and as a result they couldn’t send in larger forces especially in cases like this.
The camp they were captured in was of course an armed camp that has been experimenting on newly discovered mineral crystals that so far have been found to hold power that was equivalent to a nuclear missile!
Yes they were that devastating. The four men were sent here on a covert ‘search and destroy’ mission but who would have expected them to be waiting for them. The moment the small team had arrived, they were immediately surrounded. With guns aiming at them from all sides. The four men could only accept their surrender and get captured.
“Who is your leader?” the man who was known as Adwoc Abllah asked this time there was a chill in his voice.
“We don’t have one” all four men answered simultaneously. Not even a second passing when they question fell on their ears.
Adwoc was shocked at first. He didn’t expect this kind of response but that shock instantly turned into annoyance. These good for nothing ants actually dared to speak to him like that?
A vein visibly stretched out across his forehead. Adwoc stood from his seat before heading for a bench that lied a few feet away. A stack of rusted and bloodied metallic tools lay on top. He merely picked up an iron bar with spikes at the tip. Before walking towards the captives.
He swung the bar at the nearest man with a bald head. hitting him in the collarbone where a crunching sound was heard across the cold night. The spikes ripped through flesh and met bone, snapping it like a twig.
A soul chilling shriek caused the rest of the captives to have pale faces. True they were loyal to the ACD but they weren’t fully prepared for torture afterall just a few years ago they used to be normal soldiers. They weren’t Delta, Seal, Special forces or even marines. They weren’t even in the navy. They were simply just your average soldiers at least that was before they joined the ACD and got to appreciate more of what they were capable of.
Adwoc brought the bar that was now stained with fresh blood and prepared to swing it down once more. He swung more viciously than the first time. The bald man’s screams intensified. The other ACD soldiers felt a chill down their spines.
The brutally that Adwoc showed etched into their minds. They were told to this would be a simply mission. Get through the camp, find the mine and blow it up before heading for the extraction point. But they were ambushed and forced to surrender the moment they got here. They were stripped and captured and now this.
Adwoc threw the bar away and raised his foot right before slamming it into the bald man’s face. The bald man could do nothing but take the hit as his head slumped back. His face bones were most definitely broken and the profuse bleed from his nose and mouth showed just how seriously he was injured. Baldy spat another mouthful of blood and teeth before fainting and hitting the desert floor.
“Adwoc looked down with disgust before sneering at the other ACD soldiers.
“Still not going to talk?” Adwoc stated before taking a step towards another soldier. This one was a young man in his early thirties and he seemed to be the most terrified of the four as his body continuously shivered. Adwoc prepared to kick him as well but before he could do so an explosion resounded off in the distance.
Adwoc hastily turned and to look in that direction before his eyes finally widened his expression turning solemn for the first time.
‘That’s the direction of the crystal mine!’ he internally screamed. He was now officially angry someone was seriously pushing his buttons. He turned to the rest of the ACD soldiers.
“I just kill you now” Adwoc reached for the small of his back, pulling out a desert eagle. He prepared to fire at one of the ACD soldiers but before he could pulled the trigger another explosion rang out this time men could be heard screaming. The explosion had gone off right among the numerous tents were some men were resting.
It didn’t end there though as more and more explosions rang out throughout the camp one after another. Men were sent flying through the air with either missing body parts or even no body parts at all.
This situation really frustrated him. How had so many explosives been set up when the ones he had caught were all here? There was only one possibility.
“Find whoever is responsible and bring me their head!” Adwoc stated.
Meanwhile the culprit behind it all simply took out a lollipop from his mouth before tossing it to the ground. It was time to get serious.
A young man could be seen leaning onto one of the military jeeps belonging to Adwoc. Of course there were also other jeeps but he didn’t seem to care much about them. The dark camouflage cargo pants he wore hugged to his legs closely but not to the point of hindering his mobility, a weapon holster was strapped to his left thigh. He ballistic vest and plate carriers he wore made him look formidable. A utility belt circled his waist. It was equipped with three spare magazines for immediate reloading, smoke grenades and a KABAR knife. His hands that wore fingerless gloves held an M4 Carbine to his chest. He also carried a small backpack that had a first aid kit and a few rations because he had a feeling that those old fogies who got their asses captured would definitely need them.

‘I just had a memory about my past and before a could even talk to the Lieutenant you just had to get yourselves into a situation where I’m need’ the young man who was actually a 17 years old boy with black skin, short black hair and a face that could be considered handsome by the opposite gender pushed off the jeep before entering the jeep with a grumpy expression and as if he hadn’t just blown up a mine full of rare energy crystals.
Adwoc had just finished issuing some orders. He had completely forgotten his previous plan of just simply killing the captives.
The sound of an engine could be heard from afar.
What was it now? Adwoc complained in his head. Too many things were happening and there was no time to react efficiently at all.
Just when he had this thought a jeep came towards the center. It was crushing tents and hitting his men without any regard whatsoever. Adwoc concluded that this was an enemy. His desert eagle barked as he fired at the jeep’s windshield but they harmlessly bounced off.
Meanwhile the young man behind the steering wheel only sneered.
“Who is this idiot. Can he tell that this glass is bullet proof?” the young man said as he continued to push the jeep forward completely unphased by Adwoc’s attempts.
Adwoc cursed as he saw the jeep heading straight for him. He jumped out of its path and landed on the cold sand. The jeep seemed as though it would continue to move forward as though it would hit the ACD soldiers but turned at a 3600. The only harm being the sand that was violently kicked into their faces.
The ACD soldiers coughed heavily as they say the jeep stop right infront of them. The door to the driver’s seat opened and the young man came into full view.
Adwoc had stood on his feet and he stared at the young man. Rage filled his features because the one who was causing so much trouble for him was a 17 year old and not only that but the boy seemed to look at the ACD soldiers with an amused smile on his face.
Of the course the ACD soldiers recognized the boy he was the youngest yet also the most talented and deadliest of the ACD soldiers. He was commonly known as X-1 and they all had one thought at this moment
‘Why the hell did they send this little devil?’
X-1 then looked at Adwoc and said, “Let’s make this quick old man”
A vein popped up on his forehead. Adwoc had never felt this humiliated in his life and by a child no less. He prepared to fire his weapon but X-1 beat him to it. Something landed right next to Adwoc before it exploded and released a thick cloud of smoke that cover the entire field.
X-1 leisurely walked towards he ACD soldiers. “I wish I brought a camera with me right now. Ha ha ha!” he laughed at the nude men as he cut their bounds. “Get the injured guy and head to the back of the jeep”
The men did as they were told meekly because they knew that X-1 wasn’t someone to take lightly. X-1 used his Carbine to fire in Adwoc’s direction.
The smoke was just clearing out when the sound of gunfire echoed. Adwoc’s eyes widened as he leapt to the side once more. Some of his men had reorganized themselves and had prepared to confront the young man called X-1 but before they even took a step they found themselves impaled with bullets.
‘Time to get out of here’ X-1 thought. He had destroyed the mine as well as safely secured the team. In his mind this was more than enough.
He entered the jeep behind the wheel before shooting off into the distance. He was obviously heading for the extraction point about 60 kilometers away.
Adwoc seeing his enemies escaping had a grim expression on his face.
“Get them! Don’t let them escape!”
The other jeeps were filled with Adwoc’s men already shoot off in pursuit. One jeep stopped beside Adwoc who got on and joined the chase. The vehicles only moved for 30 meters before the suddenly stopped moving.
“No no no no what the fuck!” Adwoc cursed
“Boss the fuel lines…of all the cars were cut” one of the men came to report
“Fuuucck!!” Adwoc got out the jeep and shouted at the night desert.
Meanwhile X-1 was berating the old men
“Seriously how can you get captured just like that? I mean was it really that hard to just blow up I mine?!” the young man complained. “Now thanks to you I have to do extra work”
X-1 sighed as the middle aged men looked down in shame.
“We’re sorry X-1 it won’t ever happen again” one of them said. X-1 sighed
“Good job surviving at least. Oh and from now on call me Tyler. Tyler Calvin” X-1 replied with a slight smile as a large cargo plane came into view. “Now lets go home”
…
ACD HQ…Somewhere across the Atlantic
“We did some research and we discovered that Tyler Calvin really did exist,” the Lieutenant said as he leaned back in his inclined chair.
“Did?” I asked after catching on the fact that the Lieutenant used the name in past tense. I was standing infront of Lieutenant’s desk in his office. It was tidy wide room with a book shelf stacked with books on one side, a red small sofa on the other, a glass table in the center of the room under which was a carpet made from the pelt of a black grizzly bear and a desk where Lieutenant was currently seated.
The Lieutenant was a man who oversaw the progress of the Advanced Counterterrorist Division-ACD in short, which is a confidential government agency that is know to a few individuals in the higher up hierarchy is the United States defense department, even the president has no idea of it’s existence and because it’s base is a mobile ship that travels constantly in the trans Atlantic sea route, it’s even harder for outsiders to locate.
The ACD was where I had been for as long as I can remember which was a little less than seven years and though I have been here for seven years I did not learn everything from here. Before I joined the ACD, an organization called Tonitruum took me in and trained me. I was not more than seven years old at that time after surviving in a plane crash and severely wounded.
Agents from Tonitruum found me and brought me to their base on an island not too far to Puerto Rico, there they nursed me back to health but I had suffered amnesia and I couldn’t recall anything from before the plane. On top of that, my treatment was a debt to Tonitruum that I had to repay by doing their jobs. I went through hellish training from that point and went on missions to extract fallen agents from captivity so that they could not say anything about the agency.
But on one particular mission I made contact with a man who was a former CIA agent by the name of Jake Harper who helped me to escape as well as being Tonitruum down in flames using operation Thunderclap. From there I was recruited into the ACD and since nobody knew my name I was known as X-1. The Lieutenant saw to my needs and only deployed me when the situation was dire.
“Yes apparently Tyler Calvin died in a plane crash ten years ago together with his parents and seeing as you said you were in a plane crash at the age of seven and couldn’t recall anything further back than that…,” the Lieutenant leaned on the desk with his arms, “…then it would be safe to say that you might actually be Tyler Calvin.”
The edges of my mouth twitched slightly into a smile. My head was spinning with questions at that moment but I didn’t know if I could even ask him.
“You’re wondering if it would be possible to get you home aren’t you?” the Lieutenant smiled and arched an eyebrow.
“How did you…” I asked feeling slightly flustered.
“You’re face says it all kid,” he laughed, “…don’t think too much about it though. For now let me gather up more intel then we’ll see how this plays out okay?”
“Yes sir!” I said and turned to walk out the door. “And thank you,” I said as I walked out.
