This is my first time writing something like this, I have written a few essays but never stories.
So constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.

After spawning I looked around to get a grasp of where I was. I noticed that I was standing in front of the large oak tree that marked the town’s center. The tree was on a circular plot of land that was in the middle of a river. There was a bridge on each side of the island connecting it to the other sides of the river.
After grasping my current position I started off towards the west. I took the main street for about a third of a mile. ~Okay there's the tailor and there's the flower shop, it should be right around here.~ I walked a bit further until I seen the side alley I was looking for. I followed the ally until a large crest like, pentagon shaped sign could be seen. The sign had a picture of a beaver on it. Under the picture engraved at the bottom in large letters was "Eager Beaver".
I entered the tavern and looked around, only to see that it was fairly empty. There was only a bartender and a waitress to be seen. The tavern was dark, dingy, and for some odd reason smelt strongly of peppermint and peaches. As I was walking in, the waitress came up to me with a smile and said "I'm sorry sir but children are not allowed in here and it's not even opening hours at the moment." The girl wasn't the most beautiful person in the world but she was quite cute. She looked to be a little taller than five foot and around the age of seventeen. She had a young face, brown eyes and curly, dark brown hair that flowed a little past her shoulders. The rest was just average, except her chest. It was a bit disproportionate to her small body, a little too large for someone her stature.
I replied with "Is Derek in?", as I walked past her. The waitress said "Yeah" without even thinking, "Wai, what? Sir you can't be here!" I continued walking, ignoring the woman’s ranting. I walked up to the bar and stood in front of the bartender. The bartender was scruffy looking old man probably in his late forties; he had bulging muscles that made it look like his shirt would rip at any moment. He just didn’t give off a bartender aura. More than anything he was intimidating; he gave off an aura that sent shivers down my spine.
Before I could say anything the bartender looked me in the eyes and said in a loud, deep voice, "You heard the girl now scram.”. "Are you Derek?" I replied, "My father sent me, he told me to look for a scruffy old bartender who can't hold his liquor." The bartender glared at me for a moment and then moved his face closer to mine; it almost felt as if we were having an intense stare down. After about twenty seconds he smirked and then started laughing his ass off. "Holy shit, are you that man’s son!? I haven't seen him in ages! Hows he been?".”A longwinded drunkard.” I said with a sigh, "Ha-ha, same as always huh".

"My father sent me here to collect something, He said you would know what it is.", "Ay I know what it is, but I can't let you have it.” I was dumbfounded, ~Can't let me have it, it's mine what the hell does he mean that he can't let me have it.~Derek continued "It's down in the basement and there seems to be a rat down there." ~What the hell, a rat? ~, "Okay and?" I said with a sarcastic tone "Why haven't you dealt with it yet?”. "A rat is the same as a big mouse and there's no way in hell I'm touching a mouse!” Derek said while squirming around in place.
"Okay I'll do it.", I said. Derek replied with "Sorry sonny but that would be much too dangerous, you don't even look like you can handle the job.” “What's that ****'s that support to mean?” I said angrily. Derek sighed and responded with "Even if you had a weapon, I don't think you would be able to get the job done.” Then Derek continued with a bit more enthusiasm in his voice, "I know, how about this, you go get yourself a proper weapon and some training. Then I'll let you take a whack at it?” After he said that, a pop-up message appeared in front of me.
Splat the Rat

~Well I planned on going to the training hall anyways, but this is just plain bullshit. "Okay that sounds fair." I said after a moment of thinking while trying to calm down.~ I have to except I know how hardheaded this bastard can be, if I start to argue with him he'll just add onto what he wants me to do.~
You accepted the quest.
"Dad I'm done" The waitress said as she walked towards us. With a bit of an excitement in Derek’s voice he said "Oh this is my daughter Elizabeth, Elizabeth this is ...”, "Seriously dad, you have been talking with him all this time and you still don't know his name?" Elizabeth said with a reprimanding voice. With a quick change in her voice that was a bit too charming she said, "Hello I'm Elizabeth and you are?”. "I'm Bunny; it's a pleasure to meet you." I said as charming as I could, which sadly wasn't very charming at all.
“Shoot look at the time.” Elizabeth squealed. She then turned to me and with an attitude said, "Once again you need to leave, we are about to open.”. Elizabeth seemed to be a little pushy, even for a woman. So with that I decided to leave, as I was leaving I announced "I'll be back, for what is mine."
