"So many documents," Reyna mumbled.
She shuffled her papers on the desk. Exhaustion, fatigue, and hunger is all she can think of.
Despite her being a role model for many, setting an example all the time is exhausting.
That triggered her memory of the day before. (Reyna being in trouble cuz of taking some time off)
"A break once in a while isn't bad at all..." Reyna sighed.
"Princess!"
"What's the matter for you to bang the door open!" Reyna already being fed up didn't make things any better.
"Sorry, but this is urgent!"
"Go on."
"Terrorists have invaded the magic academy of Noreth!"
"Only the magic section?!"
"Yes!"
Reyna stood up, got her sword, and rushed towards the academy.
"Gerald, i thank you."
"The least i can do, princess."
----------------------------------------
"I asked who you are."
"The Almighty." said Kira.
...
"Huh?!" He stomped the ground out of impatience.
"What did you do to make magic become like this?"
"I. Don't. Know." He said out of mockery.
"Your mission will fail."
He and Kira swung their swords continuously, each strike delivered with accuracy, strength, and rapid speed. They followed the same attack pattern with each hit.
The clashing of swords silencing their mouths.
Kira disappeared right in front of his eyes.
"Where did he go?" he mumbled. In caution, he guarded up.
He starts looking around, trying to find her but to no avail.
"The sound of lifting a sword..." he thought.
He felt a presence behind him as if Kira teleported.
Turning around, he blocked Kira's full swinging attack. Kira halted and disappeared out of thin air, surprising him again.
And again, he blocked Kira's swing.
And once again, he blocked Kira's swing.
He got impatient and felt this little game of hide and seek was her messing around.
"COME OUT!!" he shouted.
"Why not have some fun since it is just the two of us?" said Kira.
Kira appeared in front of him.
"There's Imperial Officers outside this puny field you've placed."
Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.
Kira pointed towards the other direction.
"And! What's your point?!" he said with anger.
"Do you not see the students?"
He gasped out of confusion and surprise. "Ho- How! The students were supposed to be!-"
"Yeah, yeah. How about stop worrying about the ones you held hostage and worry about yourself?" Kira interrupted.
He looked like he was going to explode.
"Enough! Enough is enough! I had it with you idiots who can't do anything!" he said in frustration, stomping his way to Kira.
He swung his sword with even more speed than before.
"He's overpowering me. Who is this even?" he thought.
"Gah! My sword!"
Kira found the right moment to disarm him. Kira drops her sword and charges at him.
One fast strike to the stomach and another to the solar plexus brought his guard completely down.
Seemingly, Kira is about to low-kick him—a move he sees coming. However, she changes direction, lifting her leg and slamming it downwards onto him, sending him a few yards away.
In frustration, he tries to look for one of his terrorists but sees through the windows that they all have been wiped. He wonders who done that.
Kira comes closer, lifting his head up with her finger. "Don't worry about that and look here," said Kira in mockery.
Kira front kicks him, sending him a few yards away.
"AAAAHH! DAMN YOU!" he shouted as he punched the floor.
"..."
"DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU!"
"THERE'S NO WAY FOR YOU TO DEFEAT ME AS THE FIELD I INSTALLED BEFORE HAND COUNTERS MAGIC!"
"Magic suppression."
"Dispel!"
...
"Are we playing a word game or what?"
"Why not use your magic then! I know you have magic!"
"..."
Kira is in silence.
A loud cold breeze in the air layered over the silence and it stayed like that for a good moment.
"Yeah. I can. But what fun would the sparring be if i did?" she continued, "Are you asking for it? Do you want to be dead that badly?"
He picked his sword back up and stayed silent.
"It's raining. May your stubbornness be forgiven."
"Icicle Rain," Kira summoned multiple ice spikes above her that is ordered in rows and shooting them down on him one after the other.
"Argh!" he spat blood after the ice pierced him through and fell down on his knees. The ice produced by the rain began to evaporate, emitting water vapor in the air.
"Icicle Rain," and again she summoned. This time from the surrounding water vapor in the air.
"AAARGH!" he almost fainted.
"Your just a pool of blood."
"You..." his voice became sore, "...Bastard."
"Don't fucking mess with me," he stood up with fueling anger.
He grabbed a small, round glass jar from his pocket and opened it. It contained some sort of pills.
"You think your shit because you destroyed a faction's heart?!"
----------------------------------------
"There! That key over there should be the key to nullify the effects." Azura pointed.
"Oh, your right...Wait, was that a pun...?" replied Jule.
Azura ignored that last sentence and picked up the key.
"If we just..." Azura held the lock in one hand and the key on the other.
"There we go." Azura disabled the lock, nullifying the artifact's effects.
"I wonder who left that here?"
----------------------------------------
"I'm going to lose. I need to eat them quick so i can get that strength boost...Fuck it," he thought.
"AAAAGHHHH!" after biting them, a red aura emerged around him. His skin turned rough and black, while his short black hair grew long and rough. His hands, arms, and legs all became abnormal.
"Ha ha ha! How do you like that, Kira! You might have successfully get the those students out but that won't save you!"
"You knew me?"
He continued rambling on, "These Demonic Pills gives an immense boost of physical strength- No! Even magic! There's nothing that you can do to stop me now! Ha ha ha ha ha!"
"You say there's nothing i can do to stop you?"
"Don't make me repeat myself! My physical strength and magic cannot be-"
"But what if i created something that gives me the power to destroy at ease?"
"Huh...?"
A gold-like aura emerged from Kira.
"Like an automobile only runs on gasoline, the human body runs on only one kind of energy: chemical energy."
Kira emits her chemical energy.
The direction of the wind changed.
"This is the ultimate technique which you will never see again. So be honored."
Kira chuckled heavily and glared at him.
In a blink, a flash emerged. Everything surrounding Kira has been eradicated. Both magic and swordsmanship sections, every single classroom and dorm, and even some buildings past the academy are gone.
It's raining blood. His body disintegrated but his flesh was before.
Kira stood rock still on the ground of the now demolished academy, looking down.
Far away, Reyna is shocked to see the damage done to the academy.
"The academy..." she noticed that even the swordsmanship section is gone too, "Wha- What happened to the other side!? The swordsman-"
"They're all fine, Princess!" he continued, "All sections have been successfully evacuated! Though..."
"What? Spill it out!"
"...Some magic students have died."
"So, even a few died...I wasn't there and..."
"It's not your fault. There was nothing we could do..."
----------------------------------------
I might not want to become the hero or villain, but does that even matter? Externally, people may think otherwise depending on what they have seen of me. Being powerful and all is great but what about my original goal? Is this the right decision? Am i doing things right? Helping is helping, right? I'm fending off the bad guys. Are they scared of me because the other me is too strong that it frightens them? Ah, well i still have to keep moving forward. No matter what it takes, this world will have a happy ending.
