Golden light surrounded Alex blinding him. He no longer felt like he was lying on the couch in front of Fate. Instead, it was like he was floating in a stream of warm water. The water was a perfect temperature; it was very relaxing. All his aches and pains he had were washed away, even the old wounds he had accumulated over the years. Relief, free of pain, this was the first time Alex had felt this in years.
He didn’t want this feeling to every end, he could stay there forever. Suddenly the voice from before whispered sweetly in his mind, “Do not forget what you desire!”
Hearing the soft words Alex shook, and the feeling of the warm water vanished. That’s right he couldn’t stay wrapped in that comfortable feeling though Alex wished he could stay there forever, he had things to do!
Slowly Alex opened his eyes and sat up. It wasn’t too bright out so Alex’s eyes quickly adjusted. When he could properly see, Alex didn’t know what to think.
He was in a forest with massive trees that spread their long branches to create a canopy. It reminded Alex of a rainforest, only it wasn’t humid or hot, but cool. There was a lot of space between each tree, most eight to ten meters. In the spaces between the trees was lush grass and vegetation. There were small gaps in the canopy that let light seep through in patches here and there providing just enough light for Alex to see.
Taking in the scenery, Alex couldn’t help but take a deep breath. The air was clear, and the sounds of nature calmed one’s mind. Still, Alex didn’t let down his guard. He had read several stories where someone is transported to another world. In that world, there were dangers like monsters, bandits, and demons. Thinking there might be some monsters waiting to pounce on him Alex was cautious as he didn’t know what to expect.
Suddenly his head was filled with a loud, sharp ringing. Alex clutched his head and grit his teeth trying not to cry out since who knows what was lying deeper in the forest, he didn’t want to alert whatever it may be.
When the ringing stopped, Alex opened his eyes to find a blue semi transparent rectangle in two feet from his face. The rectangle appeared to be his ‘status page’ which showed his class, level, stats, and skills.

It really was weird to see his status page, it made Alex feel like he was a character in a game. While looking at his stats, he noticed that his toughness was his second highest stat and could help but laugh. Was it just a coincidence or was this some sort of joke. Did he have such toughness because he had been abused so much? The thought irritated him as it made him remember the countless beating he had received. Merely the thought of Darak and his goons made Alex nearly lose control with rage.
Alex took a few deep breaths to calm himself before he continued to look over his status page.
One thing that was odd was that there was no indication of health points or mana points. He guessed that there wasn’t anything like health points and it worked the same as in his previous world. Most likely if he lost an arm, he couldn’t drink a red potion and it would grow back.
While thinking about how to tell how much mana he had Alex notice that each of his skills had a faint glow to them. Curious as to what that might mean he touch the slot that said <

Summon Familiar: Purple GluttonLevel: 1Summons the plant type monster Purple Glutton as your familiar to aid you in battle
Each one seemed pretty useful in its own right. The skill that interested him to most was his summoning skill. Whenever Alex had time to play games, it was usually RPGs with magic and swords as its theme, just like this world mostly like is. In the games, he played if he ever had the chance he would play as something that could summon or have pets. To him, it was fun having a companion to rely on since he mostly played single player RPGs and when he did play an online game, he usually played solo. It just felt nice to know that you had someone that you could trust and didn’t have to warn about relationships or worry about them betraying you for their own gain.
With excitement, Alex raised his hands and shouted, “[Summon Familiar: Purple Glutton]!”
A few feet in front of Alex a very integrate goldish green circular magic array appeared that was ten feet in diameter. From the array a hulking creature appeared. The body was as big as a small car and resembled a bright green flower bulb, at the top, was a purple flower with foot long petals that curled downwards. From under the bottom of the bulb, countless thin roots twisted together to form four think spider-like legs that lifted the monster two feet off the ground.
The first thing that came to Alex’s mind when looking at his new familiar was that it was huge. Alex could feel a mental connection to the plant and that it was actually very intelligent. Suddenly Alex felt every tired and nearly fell to the ground. He bent over and held his knees to keep balance. Confused about what just happened, an idea struck him. In some games and movies when a person uses their mana, it causes mental fatigue. So this how he had to gauge his mana, by how mentally tired he was!
Still to be so tired after the use of just one skill, he either had a small amount of mana or his skill required a lot of it. He hoped it was the latter because that would mean that his familiar was strong!
Speaking of his familiar Alex realized that though it could make conversation, it mental capabilities was higher than most humans. Along with its natural instincts it defiantly something to be feared. Alex felt a bit of pride by having such a power creature as his companion and protector.
With confidence, he began to think of what he should do. Alex figured that it would take a while to find the way out of this ancient forest if there was even an exit. Think of a few survival tricks he had read in a book, Alex followed by the hulk plant monster he had decided to simply call Glutton, they made their way through the forest searching for food and a water source.

Alex was very much surprised by the fact that with Glutton’s size each of his steps should have at least have made some noise, if not shook the ground. However, the odd thing was that the only sound it made was when it brushed passed a bush or step on a twig. Glutton was really a fascinating creature, Alex wanted to learn more about it and what it was capable of as fast as possible. A child like curiosity appeared in his mind as he fantasized of what cool skills it could have.
After some time Alex did find a few types of berries, he didn’t know if they were poisonous so he left them alone. It wasn’t until a few hours after Alex started searching did he find food. To be more precise it was a group of orange rabbits that were as big as medium-sized dogs were gathered in a large clearing. Some were eating grass while some were relaxing a large patch of sun.
One of the rabbits was slightly bigger than the others. Its pelt had a few gray stripes on it and its left eye which had a gruesome scar over it was closed, most like it was blind in its left eye.
“That must be the alpha!” Alex whispered to himself. In total, there were eleven rabbits. Alex began to think of a plan as to what to do. Looking at the rabbits, Alex knew even one of them could feed him for at least a couple days.
Alex thought this could be a good chance to see what Glutton was capable of! By now Alex had recovered a great deal of mana since summoning Glutton, so he quickly made a plan to get himself some delicious rabbit legs. Alex gave Glutton instructions through their mental to kill as many of the rabbits as possible. With the order receive, Glutton lumbered towards the clearing with a good amount of speed despite its size. The rabbits sensing danger immediately stared at where Glutton would appear from each on the defense, ready to deal with what was to come.
When Glutton emerged from the forest, the rabbits stiffened a glint of fear in their eyes. Suddenly the alpha rabbit let out a loud screech and charged forward. Its moved so fast that Alex couldn’t even make out its form clear. Suddenly it was in front of Glutton its mouth opened to reveal a set of large fangs that shouldn’t belong to a rabbit. As it was about to bit down on the leg closest to it, something unexpected happened.
Glutton’s bulb split opened in to become a beautiful ten petal purple flower. The flower glistened in the light amount of sunlight that touched it giving it a mysterious attractiveness. Normally people would be amazed at such a captivatingly flower. However, Alex wasn’t looking at the flower itself but was in the center of it. Five long thick stocks each ended with a grotesque mouth with four appendages that had hook-shaped claws at their tips used for gripping and ripping apart its prey. The stocks wriggled like worms, each one shot out with lightning speed towards the alpha rabbit. Even though the rabbit was fast, it didn’t even have time to notice the bulb open before it was lifted into the air by one of the stocks.
It shrieked in surprise and fear as it struggled. Fresh blood dripped from where the stock had clamped down on the rabbit. Alex and the rabbits watched as the alpha was devoured by the stock as its claws ripped it apart and stuffed it into its mouth.
Alex heard a couple faint dinging sounds in his head. He had a guess what that meant and quickly opened his status page.

From a single kill, he leveled twice!
A hint of greed flashed in Alex’s eyes if one could level him twice then if Glutton devoured the others…
While one of the five stocks was still finishing its meal, Glutton stepped forward so the other rabbits were in its strike range. The orange rabbits trembled in fear unable to move because of the terror that made their bodies stiff.
While the rabbits shivered with fear, the four remaining stocks lunged forward and grasped a squealing rabbit. Hearing their comrades cries of agony as they were ripped apart awake the other remain six rabbits. They turned to flee, but Alex was already a step faster than them. Alex had circled around the petrified group of rabbits to block their escape. As soon as they had shown signs of retreat Alex used [Binding Brambles] to ensnare the remaining rabbits.
Without warning dozens of thorny bramble vines burst from the ground and attempted to capture the fleeing rabbits.
Though it left Alex near drained of his mana, he managed to capture four of the rabbits. The remain two fled, running passed Alex without even the thought of attacking him, they were to preoccupied with escaping that they didn’t even notice him.
The rabbits struggled to try and break free of the thick brambles vines that restrained them. Unfortunately for them, the more they struggled, the more the thorns that covered the vines cut into them. Because of the poison that coated the thorns, blood gushed out of the rabbits quickly weakening them from blood lost.
By the time Glutton had finished its meal, the bound rabbits had almost no strength left. Alex felt a tiny tinge of pity as he watched the rabbits that could even scream be devoured by Glutton leaving only bits of blood and organs that had escaped the creatures ever hunger mouths.
Alex was about to look at his status page again since he had heard a few more dinging sounds when he saw something weird happen. Around the base where the bulb had opened apple sized fruits appeared. They were golden in color and their shape greatly resembled pears.
Though Alex was hesitant, curiosity got the better of him. He wanted to try this fruit and if it could become a food source that would be perfect. Reaching for one of the fruits Alex could smell something unexpected. It was the smell of grilled meat. To Alex’s surprise, the smell actually came from the fruit! Instantly his curiosity exploded as a thought entered his mind. He didn’t want to believe it as he whispered to himself, “It’s impossible right?” he didn’t want to get his hopes up, but the pleasant smell of the fruit made his mind go blank.
Finally picking one of the fruits it didn’t seem any different than an average pear, except for the meat smell coming from it. With drool cascading from his mouth he took a bit.
A bolt of lightning struck Alex. It was so tasty! Never had he tasted something like it. The meat of the fruit even had the texture of perfectly grilled rabbit’s meat. It tasted as like it had been seasoned with herbs and spices to the point where there were no obvious flaws. Alex quickly devoured the fruit, then quickly ate the reason that had grown.
When he was done, he rubbed his belly. He looked at Glutton with an expression of pure bliss. Not only was it strong, but after eating something it turned it into a delicacy! Alex was so happy and comfortable he nearly fell asleep, but he forced himself to stay awake, after all, he still need to find water and shelter.
After resting for a short time Alex and Glutton once again went off to search the forest, as well as monsters to turn into tasty meals.
