On the rooftop of Orga high school, four thug looking students were sitting. In front of them was a terrified boy handing them bags of fast food. The boy was named Alex Blacklock and he was the errand boy to Darak and his group of delinquents. Darak was someone that no one messed with for two reasons. One reason was Darak was ruthless and would go to any lengths to pay back someone in full. The other was that his father was the CEO of Big Dog, a weapons and electronics company.
If anyone every went against Darak, it would only end up with his opponent losing miserably. For Alex, who was an orphan and barely got by with have a part time job, he was an ideal target for Darak.
While Alex was handing a bag of fast food to one of the thugs, one of the others stood up. The one who stood was Darak himself his expression was dark and a vein was pulsing on his forehead. Darak roared with anger, “You fucking retard!” He threw his burger hitting Alex in the face smearing his face with ketchup. Darak then grabbed the back of Alex’s head and kneed him in the stomach. With a cry of agony, Alex fell to his knees while clutching his stomach. Darak once again grabbed Alex’s head and shoved it into the burger that had dropped to the ground and growled, “What do you see!?”
Alex could barely see anything with his face pressed against the floor, still he manage to look at the nearly destroyed burger. After a moment Alex started to tremble, he had found the problem.
“I said what do you see, you piece of shit!” Darak roared and rubbed Alex’s face into the mush that was once a burger. Alex continued to tremble while we weakly replied, “Onions.” Darak let go of Alex’s head and stood, glaring at him he spoke calmly, “And what do I hate?”
Alex knew he was in trouble, even over something as small as onions in his burger Darak would brutally beat him. Bracing himself for what was going to come next Alex, who was full of fear said, “Onions.”
As soon as Alex replied Darak kicked him in the gut. Alex coughed violently, nearly vomiting up what little he had managed to eat on the way to the roof. Darak bored with the trembling, sniveling boy waved his hand gesturing to the other thugs that were still sit watching the show.
Seeing their bosses signal the others stood up each wearing a devilish smile. Darak spoke in a nonchalant tone indicating his boredom, “re-educate this gutter shit, I’m tired of looking at him.”. Once he gave his command to his underlings Darak walked off with the agonized screams of Alex echoing behind him.
The four thugs continued to kick and step on Alex laughing like lunatics until the bell signaling the end of lunch break. Though Alex was saved by the bell, he still was covered in bruises and cuts. He lay on the ground curled up in a ball, tears streamed down his face.
Why did he have to endure this punishment was the question he asked himself almost every day. What had he done to deserve the cruelty and pain he went through every day. Hatred and despair continued to revolve in his mind, he cursed Darak he wanted to kill him, he wanted to make Darak suffer like he did. All, this time, sinister emotions had eroded Alex’s mind turning his heart black. He also hated everyone else, they turned a blind eye to his suffer to keep themselves safe.
Suddenly the image of a girl flashed in his mind and he let out a long sigh. Alex picked himself up and washed off the blood and dirt from his face before heading to class.
When Alex walked through the door, the teacher scolded him for being late even though he knew why. The teacher just like everyone else was afraid of Darak, who had the backing of his father, so even he didn’t say anything when he saw Alex’s obviously bad state.
After Alex had finished receiving the teachers lecture, Alex made his way to his desk. The students he passed along the way gave him looks of pity. Inwardly Alex thought, “You guys are just happy that you weren’t in my place don’t give me those fake half-assed looks!”.
Slumping in his desk Alex sighed and put his head on his desk trying to sleep. His body hurt, Alex had once thought of fighting back but he was shorter than average and skinny with no muscles to speak of. He wanted to cry, but he was in class with people around him. At the very least he wanted to keep some dignity and not show tears.
Once class had ended Alex was about to leave when some called out to him. He turned to see the girl he had thought of earlier. Her name was Lisa Mirth, the class president and one of the most beautiful girls in the school. Her waist long black hair which was tied in a ponytail swayed as she walked over to Alex. Because of her height being a few inches taller than Alex, Lisa’s enchanting figure bent over to look at him. Her charming blue eyes filled with concern, seductive cherry red lips parted and a heart melting gentle voice spoke, “Alex, are you alright, did Darak hurt you again?”
Alex’s heart warmed slightly from hearing her words of concern. He and Lisa had known each other since middle school and after Alex had helped her complete her science experiment in their second year, they became friends. It seemed that if Lisa had failed the science experiment she would have had to repeat the grade and she saw Alex as her savior.
To Alex, it wasn’t that big of a deal, but to Lisa it meant a lot and over the time they were together she had developed feelings for him, but has never said anything. Alex, on the other hand, saw her as a friend and could not see her as anything more. After so many hardships in his life, Alex’s heart had been covered in a cold black shell that wouldn’t let anyone inside.
Even though she couldn’t become anything more to him, Alex still appreciated Lisa’s existence and the warm feeling she gave him. With a bitter smile, Alex replied to Lisa’s question, “Yeah, but I'm all right.”
Hearing Alex’s carefree tone Lisa’s eyes turned red and she frowned. Alex could tell what she was thinking and sternly said, “don’t even think about it, talking to him will not solve anything!”. Lisa wanted to say something back, but she knew Alex was right. If she tried to stop Darak, it would only make him hurt Alex more. She had spoken to a teacher about it before and the next day Alex was sent to the hospital with a few broken ribs.
Lisa clenched her fist, she hated that she was powerless she wanted to help Alex, but she didn’t know how. Alex sighed and calmly said, “you know, just you asking me if I’m ok and getting anger for me… that actually helps in its self.”.
Lisa looked at him with watery eyes and nodded. Words like that were meant to comfort her, it was something like that that had made her fall for Alex though he didn’t know it he was very kind to her and tried his best to always protect her feelings even when he was the one being hurt every day.
After that, they chatted for a little bit before parting to head home.
On the way home, Alex walked in silence, his mind swirled. He wanted to find a way to get revenge on Darak, to pay him back in full and then some. While lost in thought Alex suddenly tripped and fell face first on the ground.

“You really piss me off you know that!?” a cold voice came from behind Alex. Slowly getting on his hands and knees Alex looked behind him to see Darak with a steel pipe in one hand along with six other men behind him. Alex immediately thought Lisa had indeed gone and said something to Darak, but Darak’s next words stopped that line of thought.
“I can’t stand you being around a girl like Lisa. You are a worthless piece of shit that barely has enough value to be my errand boy and yet you dare to speak to a goddess like Lisa. Just seeing you to talking made me want to break your legs!” Darak’s voice changed into a roar as he spoke. Darak raised the pipe and with a cruel smile brought it down on Alex’s left leg. Alex screamed and the sickening sound of bones breaking could be heard.
Alex desperately tried to crawl away with the mood Darak was in he might even kill him. Laughter came from behind Alex and he felt several sets of hands grab him. He was flipped over and restrained, looming over him was Darak, his face twisted with rage and insanity.
“Stop, please!” Alex desperately shouted, but instead of stopping, hearing Alex was like a trigger for Darak. With glee, Darak again hit Alex, this time, it was his right leg. The pain was unbearable, as Alex continued to cry out tears, snot, drool pooled along with his blood.
Darak repeatedly hit him breaking all this limbs and once he was done break his limbs he squatted down to look at Alex. Alex no longer cried out in pain he only lay there as if his brain had broken. A trail of blood ran from his pale lips and mixed with his tears and mucus. Though Alex was alive, he wished he was dead.
Again he questioned just what had he done to be treated like this. Confuse and sorrow slowly transformed into rage, then insanity as he realized the answer.
Nothing!
He had nothing wrong, it was just fate. Because he existed he suffered hardship because he had simply talked to someone he was beaten to the edge of death, what kind of fucked up luck is that!?
Alex didn’t realize that Darak and his friends had vanished not long ago. He only could lay there lost in thought, curse his existence. Slowly a single word echoed in his mind.
Revenge
He wanted revenge, even though Alex had thought about it countless times, this time, it was different. Before it was merely him whining, this time, however, it was not complaining, but a deep desire. This desire was fueled by a demon that wanted nothing more than to utterly destroy Darak, not just kill him but humiliate, crushed, force him into despair, to make him wish for his death, then Alex would kill him slowly.
Alex could hear something whisper in his ear, it told him to kill, destroy, and conquer. It said that he was meant to rule over others, that he was destined to stand above all. Though Alex didn’t understand where this voice came from it sound similar to his own, but this voice held a terrifyingly oppressive power unlike his own.
The voice brought forth emotions, pain, desires that had accumulated over the years finally broke Alex then reformed him instantly. The voice and madness suddenly disappeared and all that was left was a coldness that could freeze even hell. Finally, Alex opened his eyes and stared at what was before him. A room completely gray with elegant furniture. Sitting in a comfy looking chair was a woman dress in a gray evening gown and had her face covered by a veil.
Alex realized he was laying on a couch that faced the woman, in confusion he looked at the woman and said, “where am I, is this heaven?”
The woman laughed and gently said, “no you are not in heaven, this is a unique space I have created.”
A unique space!? How was it possible, was she some sort of alien or god? Alex was alarmed, just what had happened? One moment he was in an alleyway crippled now he was in the gray room.
The woman laughed softly then said, “allow me to introduce myself, I am Fate, Goddess of Harmony.”
So she really was a god, something like this was too odd, Alex could help but panic. Does this mean he died, no he couldn’t have! Alex refused to die until Darak had suffered and gone to hell!
Since Alex remained silent Fate continued, “if you want revenge I can give you a chance, that is if you do something for me.”
Immediately Alex turned his full attention to Fate with an ice cold voice he said, “what do you want?”
Alex’s tone was rude, but Fate didn’t seem to care as she continued, “you see my sisters sometimes argue and to solve their arguments they play a game where they take a group of people the split them into two teams to make them their champions. The champions then are sent to another world where they grow stronger than fight. The team that claims victory will decide the argument and also the surviving winners will receive a reward.”
Alex's eye brightened and he became more excited, “So you want me to win then my revenge will be granted!?”
Fate shook her head and said, “No, Darak, the one you will kill will be participating in the next game. So I will send you to the world that the game is being held, giving you a chance to kill him and if you win, I will grant any wish you have.”
Alex felt something was off, didn’t this seem a little too convenient. Why would a goddess care about his grudge? Alex looked at her trying to find any hint of lies or manipulation, but because of the veil covering her face, he could find anything. Thinking for a moment, then asked in a friendly tone, “you really are too kind to help me take care of my debts, but why? Out of some many others why choice me?”
Fate twitched for a moment, then sighed, “my sisters sometimes take things too far, so to prevent that send someone to stop if needed. This time, however, I want you to win because of a small bet my sisters and I made.”
Fate seemed depressed and a little irritated, obviously this matter was important. Still she hadn’t answered why him, so he ask again and this time, Fate replied somewhat awkwardly, “The reason… think of it as a whim.”
Her long pause made Alex doubt her, but in the end, this was a chance to return all the pain and suffer Darak inflicted on him, why should he turn it down?
“Alright, I will do what you ask, just so long as I can have revenge!” Alex’s spoke calmly but his chilled words would make people cringe with fear.
Fate nodded, “Good, once you arrive in the other world you will receive some power to start your journey, now go!”
With a flick of her wrist, Alex burst into golden light and vanished. Leaning back in her chair Fate exhausted a faint frown on her face. Thinking of Alex, she whispered to herself solemn words, “Normally a human would even dare to breathe in my presence, yet he was unaffected and even had a little of an attitude. To think even though his blood lays dormant he can displace such power, truly a tyrant is a tyrant no matter what.”
