Going Rogue
A New Friend

A New Friend

As I woke up I felt a soft fur like coat over me, for a second I thought it was all a dream but as I opened my eyes I saw the cave ceiling and a little black wolf cub sleeping on top of me. I try to lift it off of me but end up just having it in my lap until it wakes up, when it opens its eyes it tries to jump back but weeps after putting pressure on its legs, as I inspect it I don't see any claw marks or any sign of injury.

* “Rumble!” My thoughts are cut short as I here a sound coming from it, it wasn't growling

* “Are you hungry?” I ask it and get a slight whimper in response. “I take that as a yes.”

I take out some of my precious meat that I had in my bag and give it to the wolf cub.

* “I guess I should give you a name, huh?” As I ponder on what to call it I hear a voice

* “I’m Lupus!” A voice said

* “Who said that?” I asked as I looked around

* “I did!”

* “You?” The wolf cub was speaking to me

* “Hello.” It said

* “How can you talk?” I ask

* “Why wouldn’t I?”

* “Because I have never seen a talking animal before.” I tried to defend myself

* “What do you mean? Everyone who has magic power can talk to other beings with magical power.” It said

* “But I don’t have any.” I said feeling confused

* “Impossible.”

* “Impossible?”

* “Yeah, impossible, if you didn’t have any magic power then how could I talk to you!” Lupus said determined he was right

* “Well, everyone else I met had a flame around them but I didn’t.” I started to get annoyed with how unwavering the people of this world were

* “Oh, you’re from the kingdom of Santaro, right?” Lupus asked looking disappointed

* “No” I said without hesitation

* “You're not?” Lupus said in shock

* “I was summoned there and was immediately exiled, I’m going to burn it into the ground.” I said adding the burn it to ground part as a joke

* “So, they really are stupid.” It said looking disappointed again, but for a different reason

* “Stupid?”

* “Yes, stupid, they only see magic power bestowed by god’s and not anything else.”

* “Bestowed by god?” I ask feeling very confused

* “When they measure power they only measure how much of the power of the human god they can pull out, not how much of their own power they can awaken.”

* “Human god? Own power?”

* “When a being tries to pull power from the gods they basically become slaves and the only way to free slaves is to kill the owner, but in this case the humans want to be slaves so getting to the gods is very difficult, not to mention the power of the gods themselves.” It explains

* “But isn’t that just religion?”

* “Yes, if this was any other species but, the human god is different…”

* "Different how?”

* “When one person takes the power, every single one of their descendants also gets the power and the seal, it is only broken when another seal of another god gets in the mix, when that happens their latent power comes out.”

* “So getting a god's power is like making a deal with the devil?”

* “I don’t know who this “devil” guy is but it’s like selling your soul to damnation.” Lupus says

* “You seem quite knowledgeable, Lupus.” I say a bit surprised by all of the things he knew

* “It’s common knowledge among our clan of wolfs, that making a deal for power with a god is like selling your will.”

* “It’s that bad, huh?”

* “Yeah, it’s that bad.”

* “Well then, I guess I’ll just have to kill all the gods.” I say as if it was the easiest thing in the world

* “What!” Lupus screamed in surprise

* “Yeah, you said that if you don’t pull power from a god then you can become infinitely more powerful.”

* “No, even though the ceiling is far higher it’s still impossible to go past your limits!” Lupus shouts as if that will help me understand

* “But have you ever seen a human warrior that was summoned from another world without the bindings of a god try to reach this limit?” I ask him knowing the answer

* “Fine, I’ll let you train to kill the gods, but you need to train for at least three more years!” Lupus said trying his best to put restraints on me

* “Fine, I won’t attack the gods for at least three years.” I said agreeing to his demands

* “Good, but I’ll be coming with you to make sure you don’t get into any trouble.”

* “Fine, but we need to find a better place to stay ‘cause this, yeah this place sucks.” I say looking around at the rock walls

* “Yeah, but we need money.” Lupus said

* “How do you know how money works?” I asked as I through the bag over my shoulder

* “I’m from this world unlike you, so just let me take care of the things needing discussion, alright?” Lupes said as he climbed upon my head

* “Sure, but how are we going to communicate without other people hearing what we’re planning?” I ask as I’m trying to find a comfortable head position without throwing of Lupus

* “By doing this.” He says but this time I hear it inside my head instead

* “You could do this all along?”

* “Only when I’m within a five meter radius of the target.”

* “So that’s why you're on my head.” I say as I find a comfortable position

* “That and to see how much power you can gain, and which clans of which species we should go too to get the best training.”

* “How do I find that out?”

* “By finding which elements your magic can shift into and which types of magic you can wield it in.”

* “What are the different types?”

* "There are species specific types that everyone within a species have, Angel’s have light, Elf’s have nature, Demon’s have dark, and Giants just use brute strength.” Lupus said as I start to leave the cave

* “That makes sense. But what about Humans?” I ask as I start to drink water

* “I’m getting to that, the other type is personal magic types, these consist of fire, water, wind, thunder and earth, and humans have a greater chance of getting two of these since they don’t have a species specific magic type.” Lupus said as he tried to drink water from my bottle

* “So as compensation they can have more personal types.” I said as I raised to bottle so he could reach

* "Exactly.”

* “So which types do I have?” I asked as I walked along the mountain wall

* “Let’s see here, it might take a while for me to figure it out so let me concentrate.” Lupus said

* “Sure.”

I kept walking until noon when I spotted some goblins, being aware of Lupus on my head I tried to distract them and sneak by, but before I could even try to begin my plan I heard a scream from behind me, a goblin had spotted me I turned to try and run but got surrounded by goblins. I pulled out my hunting knife and got on the defensive I knew I had to fight without letting them distract Lupus so I went for the ones nearest the mountain wall since they had the most distance from the others I managed to cut the goblin across the chest but my knife had snapped, then I was smashed into the wall by another goblins club. “Am I… Going to die… I can’t die… I have to live…” as I kept repeating the same words in my head over and over the goblins kept coming closer, “No, I won’t die here.” I threw my hand forward, catching a goblins club and punching it into a tree, I took the club I was still holding and threw it at a group of goblins that were heading towards me and knocked them down like bowling pins, I kept going until there were no goblins left, and then everything went black again and I fell to the floor.

* “You did good Loki” The last thing I remembered was hearing Lupus say does words

After awhile I woke up in a house with a wooden ceiling, I sprang up looking around trying to see where I was.

* “Ahh!” I heard a startled scream

* “Huh?” I look down on the girl who fell on the ground. “Who are you?”

* “Uhh, I’m…” The girl whispered seeming surprised at the question

* “I can’t hear you.” I said as I tried to make out what she was saying. “Anyway, I’m Loki, and I’m a fifteen year old human.” I decided to introduce myself first

* “A human!?” She screamed seeming to get scared

* “I won’t do anything to you.” I tried to reassure her

* “All humans are bad humans!” She screamed as she ran out of the room

* “Wait!” I tried to stop her but she was way to fast for me to react

* “Don’t worry about her.” I heard Lupus say from the right of me

* “Why did she get so scared?” I asked as I turned to him

* “Let’s just say that humans don’t have the best reputation in this world compared to yours.” Lupus said

* “If the animals in my world could speak they would probably act the same way.” I said as I realized why she was so scared

* “Elves are beautiful and can please a human the same way another human could, so they're a very popular slave.”

* “So why am I in a building with an elf in it? Especially one that has been sold to slavery by humans.” I said

* “So you noticed, huh.” Lupus said with a slight hint of sadness in his voice

* “I could tell by the way she ran, her left leg was recently injured by a whip and the mark of a chain that was just recently removed was visible around her neck.” I said as I tried to stand up

* “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” Lupus said as I started to put pressure on my legs

* “Why not?” I asked

* "Because you broke your legs and three ribs in your confrontation with the pack of goblins, if it wasn’t for Lexia you would be paralysed.”

* “Lexia?” I asked confused as to who that was

* “The elf that was in here a moment ago.” Lupus explained

* “Why was she healing me if she hates humans?” I asked being even more confused

* “You’ll have to figure that out by yourself. Anyway we should get to training.” Lupus said as he touched me with his paw on my leg and a green light appeared

* “First I need you to explain a few things.” I said as I felt the pain in my legs disappear

* “Stand up and follow me, your leg should be fully healed now.” He said as he left the room

As I stood up I realised he was telling the truth, the slight pain I felt when I put pressure on my legs before was gone. I stood up and made my way towards the door as I heard yelling.

* “Why didn’t you heal him up so he didn’t have any injuries left!” I heard a middle age female voice say

* “I’m sorry.” I recognized this voice as Lexia and realised that she was getting yelled at for not healing me to perfect health

I hurried down stairs to find Lexia crying with the older woman standing in front of her.

* “Are you just gonna cry again?” The older woman said

* “I’m sorry.” Lexia sobbed

* “Stop apologizing and go heal him!” The older woman yelled

* “She has already healed me to perfect health.” I said stepping in between them

* “Wha-” Lexia tried to say something but I covered her mouth

* “And, why would you put her to heal me if she was sold to slavery by them?” I asked keeping my voice calm

* “Because she needs to overcome her fears!” The woman yelled

* “Then why not have her help with healing me or have her start a conversation with me?” I asked again

* “Because she would just run away.” The woman kept her voice loud but toned it down a little

* “Why does she need to overcome her fears at all?” I asked

* “What?” The woman said seeming surprised by the question

* “Well why does she? If she was just freed from slavery then don’t force her to confront the possibility of getting thrown into it again so fast.” I said trying to get her to back of

* “Fine, I’ll get of her back for now, but I need to have a talk with you in private later.” She said as she left

* “By the way have you seen a little black wolf around here?” I asked before she left

* "Out back." She said as she pointed toward the back door

* “Thanks.” I started to walk toward the door when I remembered Lexia was on the floor crying

* “You know, I think you would be much more beautiful if you wiped awa-” I was startled as I turned towards her and saw her sleeping on my hand that was still on her face. “I guess you got tired from all the crying.”

As I crouched down to her level I realised that her hair was silver, when I first woke up I thought it was grey and that she was a lot older than me but as I looked closer at her while I carried her up toward the room I had been in that I saw that not only was her hair dirty but also her clothes, almost as if it was on purpose.

* “So that’s it huh?” I realised that she was wearing dirty clothes and not washing her hair properly so that no one would want to buy her

I took a pen and a piece of paper and wrote something down on it. I put it next to where she was sleeping, and hurried out to Lupus to start my training.

* “Lupus, sorry I’m late.” i said as I opened the door

* “No worries, I heard all the commotion inside, you had a good reason.” He said as he sat on a rock

* “So, which elements do I have?” I asked extremely excited

* “Light, Dark, Nature, Fire and Thunder.” He said looking extremely satisfied

* “Wait a minute, Light, dark and nature? Aren’t those species specific?” I asked extremely confused

* “They are, and you can also use them for empowering yourself and your weapons.” He said avoiding my confusion

* “Not healing?”

* “That’s part of the support magic shapes, if you have the same magic element as someone and you have the support magic shape in you then you can heal any wound, but if you have the nature type then you can heal anyone.” He said as calmly as ever

* “So elf’s are really good healers.” I said

* “Yes, but some are of course better than others.”

* “So are we going to start training?” I asked extremely excited

* “Yes, but not now.” He said

* “Why not?” I asked getting disappointed

* “After your little stunt just now you will have a harder time convincing the master of this house to let us stay.” He said getting serious

* “Why do I need to convince her?” I asked getting nervous

* “Because you were the one who got our permission revoked, she’s an old friend of mine and agreed to let us stay here for a year until you could take care of yourself but now things have changed.”

* “Because I stepped in between her and Lexia right?”

* "Exactly” He said being sure I understood

* “Should I go now or?” I asked

* “She wanted to see you as soon as the explanation was complete, so go to her room, NOW!” He said raising his voice a little

* “Fine, I’ll go.” I stood up and went to the door to her room.
