Liara spent a few hours working with Lily so the young assassin would be used to her new abilities. They were finishing an hour’s break before challenging the boss. They relaxed before a large door.
“Now, what is your role, Lily?” Liara asked.
“Operations. My job is to attack and back off. I am to perform critical attacks and leave aggro control to Daddy.” Lily answered.
Liara nodded her approval.
Michael’s role was to keep the boss’s attention only. Liara and Lily were going to be the attackers. In the possibility of there being support monsters in the room, Rana would be hanging on Michael’s back. Rana fashioned a basic strap for Michael to wear.
Once she was latched onto Michael’s back, the three fighters headed toward the door.
The door opened by itself the moment Michael put a hand on it. A dark mist obstructed the view into the room.
“Is this normal?” Michael asked.
“No…” Liara replied.
She explained that mist had to be a part of the difficulty boost. Typically, they would be able to see the boss and be able to build an initial plan before entering the room.
“I’ll lead.” Michael lifted his large shield and kept his jager mace at the ready. He passed through the mist and was quickly followed by Liara and Lily, who immediately went into stealth.
The dim light in the large room got brighter until they could see the boss.
“That is not a normal first boss,” Liara commented, readying herself.
The boss was a giant clay golem whose joints and torso were covered with ridge bug shell plating.
The golem let loose an odd roar that vibrated through the mana in the air. It began moving toward them to attack.
Michael used a Savior ability and put a protective barrier around Rana before meeting the boss’ punch.
The punch was insufficient to budge Michael, but he could tell the attack would probably kill an average person.
Liara used fire magic and wrapped an open area on one of the giant golem’s legs.
Lily broke her stealth, striking at a few spots on the golem, but to no avail, did no real damage.
Michael kept the golem’s attention on himself by using a custom curse that made the golem hate big-winged demons. The golem’s attacks were decently fast but were easy to predict with how much it wound up its attack. Michael would dodge some while deflecting others with his shield.
Throughout the time that the golem was attacking Michael, Liara maintained the fire on its right leg. Before long, the golem took a step, and the spot crumbled under its weight. Michael used One with Darkness to move out of the way, and the golem crashed to the ground. Some of the protective shells also came off from the impact, opening the joints for an attack.
Lily pounced on one of the joints and quickly severed the golem’s left arm.
The golem moaned in protest, trying to stand back up.
“Hmm… Dearest, could you crush the plating on the back, please?” Liara called out to Michael.
Michael approached the downed golem and destroyed the shell plating on the back with a single strike.
“Thank you. Lily, your turn!” Liara cheerily called out.
The young girl hopped on the back and used Detect to find where the core was. Instead of destroying it, Lily decided to dig it out.
Seeing what the girl was doing, Michael crushed the joint of the other arm, making it impossible for the golem to stand back up.
Michael let Rana down as Lily finished her work.
“Got it!” Lily pulled out a large golem core the size of a volleyball. The previous ones that had been getting were about the size of a golf ball.
“Mom! Look how pretty this is!” Lily came up to her mother and held up the golem core.
“My, this is pretty.” Rana placed a hand on the transparent, red golem core.
“Huh?” Michael was startled.
“Something wrong, my lord?” Rana asked.
Floating before Michael was an unusual info screen, he had never seen before.
Royal Golem Master Class available for
Companion of the Demon-Lord.
Do you wish to change classes?
Yes? No?
“My lord?” Rana looked at him with concern.
Michael scratched his head. “So… Do you want to try a new class?”
Royal Golem Master. A rare class that has specific requirements to unlock. One must have high intelligence, management, organization, and leadership skills. A person will also need to come into contact with a Rank 5 golem core at a minimum and serve a royal, or equivalent, to make the class available. Having an advanced class increases the chances of unlocking. +10 to Int. +4 to Str and Dex. +10 to the following skills: Golem Mastery, Management, Organization, Leadership, and Mana Mastery. +5 to Intuition and Instill Spirit.

Michael finished going over the new class that was available for Rana. Rana initially got scared and removed her hand from the core, but the screen stayed in place until Michael chose an answer.
“So, what do you want to do, Rana?” Michael asked her.
“You should take it, Mom! It sounds so cool!” Lily was all for her mother taking a new class.
“To think that a Demon-Lord can change a person’s class.” Liara was stunned.
Generally, if a person wanted to change their class, they needed to go to a temple and pay for the service. The change required the Blessed Tablet that the temples had. Michael was basically a walking Blessed Tablet.
Rana seemed unsure if she wanted to lose the class she had put so much effort into obtaining.
“Come on, Rana, you complained yesterday about feeling useless. This is a great opportunity. I also doubt you would lose any of your current abilities. Maybe Inspire?” Liara commented.
Rana looked at her daughter, who was smiling expectantly. The mother wanted her daughter to take on a different job than a combat one. She only wanted Lily to live safely. But, if her daughter was going down the current road, it felt only suitable to choose what was best.
Turning to Michael. “Do it,” Rana stated.
Michael selected ‘Yes.’ Rana shivered as she felt the changes occurring within her. Once she steadied, Michael checked her status.

Michael finished going over Rana’s new status. Lily stared at her mother with stars of admiration. Liara threw up her hands in frustration that the two got special classes and went to look for some loot.
“This is so cool! Mom, you are awesome!” Lily danced about.
“My lord. Could I get one of the small cores?” She asked.
Michael pulled one of the small cores out and handed it to her.
“Rank 1 core.” She muttered.
“You can tell, Mom?” Lily asked.
“Uh, I guess I can.” Rana smiled.
She attempted the Convert Core ability. The red-colored core slowly changed from red to a pretty green.
Rana asked Michael to check the Form Golem ability as she could not quite understand how it worked.
Form Golem. The ability to create a golem out of available materials. Lay out materials in the desired form, place the core above desired install location, and activate the skill. If material quality or weight exceeds the capabilities of the core, the formation will fail.
“Oh! Maybe try on the boss?” Lily suggested.
Rana shook her head. “I know this Rank 1 core would be unable to move that. Its original core is a Rank 5.”
Liara returned carrying a few items. “Look what I found.” She tossed a sheathed dagger to Lily.
Lily checked the dagger to find it was a magic dagger that had a simple sharpness improvement.
Liara informed them that the loot room was at the door to the next floor and would be an excellent place to take a break. Rana had Michael collect an arm and leg of the boss for them to form her first golem.
They set up in the loot room, and Rana began converting the numerous intact cores they had collected. Lily and Michael worked together to form the golem’s body. It was humanoid in form. Michael broke and shaped several hardened carapaces, and Lily applied them to protect the joints. They also installed the sharpest ridged parts to the fists and shins.
“We need to make it female!” Lily complained.
“I hear you… But why?” Michael playfully asked.
“Um, well… Oh! She has the possess golem ability! It would work better if it was female!” Lily tried.
Michael laughed at how hard she was trying and decided to let her have her way. They finished forming the armored body and checked if Rana was ready.
“I’m still converting the Rank 5 core. Since my skill is low, it is taking a while.” Rana was sweating as the red core was halfway green.
Michael placed his hands over Rana’s and channeled his mana into her.
“Ah!” Rana made a lewd noise.
“Uh…” Everyone looked at her in shock.
“S-S-Sorry. I don’t know… Your mana just felt so… nice.” Rana was squeezing her eyes shut in embarrassment.
Michael ‘gently’ transferred his mana to her as she continued to convert the Rank 5 core.
After an hour, the core was bright green, like a large transparent emerald.
“Phew. Thankfully that is done with.” Rana sighed in relief.
“Maybe you should top her off, Cael.” Liara teased.
Rana growled at Liara and told her to mind her own business.
Rana set the converted core on the golem’s chest. “Install.”
The surface of the chest rippled, and the core sunk into the golem. Some of the material in the arms formed the connecting joints on the legs, arms, neck, and a large one at the waist. Rana followed up by installing two Rank 2 cores for the eyes and two Rank 1 cores for the ears.
“Okay.” Rana sighed. “Stand.” She ordered.
The golem twitched and stood up in a rickety way.
“Hmm. The movement is rough. I probably won’t be able to help in a fight yet. I will practice until I can move it freely.” Rana concluded.
“Well, just controlling the thing will increase your skill rank,” Liara commented.
Rana then took a breath and turned to Michael. “Make me your second wife.”
Michael was taken aback for a moment. “Uh…?”
She sighed. “You love and want to protect me, do you not?”
“Wait! Rana! Uh…” Liara panicked but then realized why Rana was bringing it up now. She knew it would happen at some point.
“Y-Yeah. All of you are important to me.” Michael replied.
“Then let’s do this,” Rana said.
Lily cheered happily that it was finally happening.
“I swear I will love you, cherish you, and be with you for the rest of our lives. I will never betray you and be with you through thick and thin. I swear in Io’s name.” Rana became surrounded by a haze of light.
Michael looked at Liara, who reluctantly smiled and nodded her approval.
Michael sighed. “Rana. I love you too. I will be there for you whenever you call. I will support you in your endeavors. I will do everything I can to never bring harm to you. I swear in Io’s name.” A silver light surrounded his body.
The two of them sealed their promises with a kiss, blinding Lily, who didn’t close her eyes like Liara.
The light died down.
“Now. Do I have the Spouse of the Demon-Lord Special?” Rana asked with a mischievous smile.
“What? Is that what this was about!?” Michael was shocked.
Rana giggled. “I was thinking of waiting until we got out of here, but circumstances sped up my decision. I am sad that the honeymoon will have to wait tho-.”
Michael picked her up.
“C-Cael!?” Rana was taken by surprise.
Both Lily and Liara giggled.
“You’re getting what you deserve.” “Have fun, Mom!”
Rana realized she was in trouble as Michael sunk them into a shadow.
“Please forgive me!” Rana cried as she sunk inside with her new husband.
